Error analysis and performance test of the volumetric interferometer for three dimensional coordinate measurements (삼차원 좌표 측정을 위한 부피 간섭계의 오차분석 및 성능평가)

  • We have recently proposed the new concept of a phase-measuring volumetric interferometer that enables us to accurately measure the xyz-coordinates of the probe without metrology frames. The interferometer is composed of a movable target and a fixed photo-detector array. The target is made of point diffraction sources to emit two spherical wavefronts, whose interference is monitored by an array of photo-detectors. Phase shifting is applied to obtain the precise phase values of the photo-detectors. Then the measured phases are fitted to a geometric model of multilateration so as to determine the xyz-location of the target by minimizing least square errors. The proposed interferometer has been designed and built with a volumetric uncertainty of less than 1.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$ within a cubic working volume of side 120 mm. Here, in this paper, we also present error sources, an evaluated uncertainty, and test results from the prototype system. The self-calibration of two-dimensional precision metrology stages is applied to test the performance of the interferometer.

  • The ship sailing among waves suffers from the various wave loads that comes from its motion throughout its life. In the rationally-based design, the dynamic structural analysis is carried out using dynamic wave loads provided from the results of the ship motion calculation as the rigid body. This method is based on the linear theory assumed low wave height and small amplitude of motion. But at the rough sea condition, relatively high wave compared to the height ship's depth is induced the large ship motion, so configuration of the ship section below waterline changes rapidly at each time. This re-sults in a non-linear problem. Considering above situation we have already introduced the non-linear dynamic strength analysis method for the hull girder(refer vol. 29. No.4 November, 1992, Journal of SNAK). In this paper, estimation of the hull girder strength for various ship types such as tankers, containers and log carriers is carried out based on the introduced non-linear method. We expect that the results will be used as useful basic data for the es-timation of dynamic strength of ships in the rough sea.

  • Heavy chemical industries have nonlinear loads including electrolyzers. The electrolysis consists of AC-BC converters which generate harmonic currents and create distortions on the sinusoidal voltage of the power system. This paper provides in depth an analysis on harmonics field measurement for the electrolyzer loads, adding a single-tuned filter at the customer bus for reducing harmonic distortion and harmonic assessment by the international harmonic standards IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519. The EDSA program was used as a simulation tool for the case study.

  • With the proliferation of nonlinear loads, high neutral harmonic currents in three-phase four-wire distribution system have been observed It has been also known that the ground impedance has an effect on the neutral currents of a system which operates with harmonics present. On-site measurements of harmonic currents and voltages, and the soil resistivity and ground resistance under case study system were made and the corresponding equivalent circuit for the harmonics analysis was developed This equivalent circuit model was simulated numerically and graphically through the use of MATLAB and CDEGS software packages, and adequate results were obtained.

  • With the proliferation of nonlinear loads, high neutral harmonic currents in three-phase four-wire distribution system have been observed. It has been known that the ground impedance has an effect on the neutral currents of a system which operates with harmonics present. On-site measurements of harmonic currents and voltages according to the fall-of-potential method under case study system were made and the ground impedance modeling using the pattern search method for the harmonic analysis was developed The ground impedance model obtained by the proposed method was compared with the frequency characteristics by field tests and has shown appropriate results, and would be applicable to evaluate the harmonic and transient response characteristics of the ground system.

  • With the proliferation of nonlinear loads such as commercial facilities in all of modern society high neutral harmonic currents have been observed. High neutral currents in three-phase four-wire distribution systems can cause lots of harmonic problems. The most common solution of neutral harmonic currents reduction is a zero phase sequence filter using zig-zag transformer. This paper analyzes a commercially available neutral line zero sequence currents reduction device and applies the equipment to commercial office loads for eliminating harmonics. Experimental results m compared numerically and graphically with simulation results through the use of MATLAB.

  • In order to analyze voltage, current electrical power, harmonic and so on of electrical load equipments, electrical power analysis by real measurement rather than mathematical modeling is necessary, and plan of countermeasure for efficient management, energy frugality and accident prevention of electrical equipments using it is possible Especially, electrical power analysis by real measurement is indispensable in order to consider countermove of harmonic occurred by nonlinear load So, in this paper, we developed DSP(Digital Signal Processor) based low price date aquisition system, and verified it's ability by performing measurement and analysis of electrical power and harmonic in the real power system.

  • An electric arc furnace being used in the steel industry is a time-varying non-linear load causing voltage fluctuations to the power system. Flicker can be defined as the effect produced on the human visual perception by a changing emission of light lamps subjected to magnitude fluctuations of their supply voltage. The level of flicker depends on the amplitude, frequency and duration of the voltage fluctuations. In this paper, the voltage fluctuation problem in an 154[kV] system due to the electric arc furnace loads is investigated and the analysis results of the static var compensator application for the voltage flicker mitigation are presented and evaluated by the IEC 61000-3-7.

  • Most buildings and factories are supplied with electric power by three-phase four-wire low voltage electric distribution system. This method pollutes the neutral line and utility sources with harmonic currents. Today, development of power conversion technology and the popularization of computer cause the neutral current to become serious. In this paper, a novel three-phase four-wire active filter is proposed to solve these harmonic problems has two purposes. The first purpose of the proposed active filiter is that the phase current has a sinusoidal waveform shape under the nonlinear load. The second purpose of the proposed active filiter is that the current on the neutral line become zero under the unbalanced power source and under the varring load conditions. The ability of the shunt active filiter has been proved to be excellent through simulations under the varring load conditions.
