Color is a sense signal for human to perceive being through light, and the color is divided into chromatic color and achromatic color. Chromatic color has hue, intensity, and saturation, but achromatic color has only intensity among the properties of chromatic color and doesn't have hue and saturation. Therefore it is important to split colors of image into area for human to perceive colors and not to perceive ones based on vision of human being. In this paper, we find a function to split colors of image into chromatic region of chromatic color region and achromatic region of achromatic color region. First, the input image of RGB color space is converted into the image of HSI color space in consideration of human vision and get a binary image from the converted image. After then, a function to split colors into ROC(ROC: Region of chromatic.) and ROA(ROA:Region of achromatic) is yield. It is difficult to split color of a general image into ROC and ROA. Therefore, to get the chromatic area and achromatic area, we make gradient images to have all range of intensity and range of saturation and to have a little range of hue and yield the function. The evaluation is tested using subjective-quality by 50 non-experts for result images of test images and general images. The results of the proposed method get better 27.5~32.96% than these of the conventional method
The quantitative analysis of chitooligosaccharide was compared to using colorimetry and HPLC method. HPLC method required less than 10mins per sample in analytical time of glucosamine and its the recovery rate was 98.4% (10 mg/ml, w/v). Also there was no the effects of interfering substances(false positive response) by HPLC method. The content of chitooligosaccharide in processed chitooligosaccharide products obtained using HPLC showed lower levels compared to colorimetry. Thus, HPLC method was more sensitive, effective and precise than the colorimetry currently used to determine the glucosamine of chitooligosaccharide.
A new approach is proposed for restoration of corrupted regions and segmentation in natural text images. The challenge is to fill in the corrupted regions on the basis of color feature analysis by second order symmetric stick tensor. It is show how feature analysis can benefit from analyzing features using tensor voting with chromatic and achromatic components. The proposed method is applied to text images corrupted by manifold types of various noises. Firstly, we decompose an image into chromatic and achromatic components to analyze images. Secondly, selected feature vectors are analyzed by second-order symmetric stick tensor. And tensors are redefined by voting information with neighbor voters, while restore the corrupted regions. Lastly, mode estimation and segmentation are performed by adaptive mean shift and separated clustering method respectively. This approach is automatically done, thereby allowing to easily fill-in corrupted regions containing completely different structures and surrounding backgrounds. Applications of proposed method include the restoration of damaged text images; removal of superimposed noises or streaks. We so can see that proposed approach is efficient and robust in terms of restoring and segmenting text images corrupted.
In this study, we investigated the performance of a portable colorimeter used for the measurements of atmospheric ammonia against the more reliable method like UV/VIS spectrophotometer. For the purpose of this study, we tested a portable colorimeter and UV/VIS spectrophotometer for such basic analytical parameters as detectibility, reproducibility, linearity, and accuracy. According to our study, the performance of the colorimeter was fairly good to show a good agreement with the UV/VIS system. However, the performance of colorimeter suffered from both low and high concentration ranges: it was found to have very poor reproducibility at lower concentration (below $10\mu}g$), while its linear dynamic range was limited at the upper end (e.g., near $100{\mu}g$). If we assume that air samples are collected up to 30 liter, it implies that the colorimeter can be used to measure samples containing NH3 in the range of 500 ppb to 5 ppm (without the aid of diluting technique). Consequently, we recommend the use of such instrument with the awareness of its basic properties pertaining to the fundamental performance (such as its detectable range).
A modified hydroxamate method was developed for determination of fat content in milk. Fat globules in milk were destroyed by adding ethanol and diethyl ether, and a homogeneous reaction system was obtained. The homogenate was reacted with hydroxylamine, milk fat formed ferric hydroxamate chelates which had red-purple color, and the ferric hydroxamate chelates was analyzed colorimetrically. This method was simpler than original hydroxamate method and comparable with the Babcock method in accuracy.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the whitening efficacy and longevity of home bleaching. Materials and Methods: A total of 28 patients were divided into either experimental group (Opalescence F; 15% carbamide peroxide) or control group randomly. The patients in experimental group were instructed to wear individual trays applied with bleaching gel for 2 hours a day for 4 weeks. Any treatments weren't applied to the patients in control group. The color measurements of central incisors, lateral incisors & canines of upper and lower arch were recorded at base line, immediately after the finishment of treatmemt (4 weeks), 8 weeks and 12 weeks using Colorimeter (Chroma Meter, 2600d Konica Minolta co.) and Vitapan classical shade guide (Vita Zahnfabrik). Results: A significantly stronger color change was observed for overall teeth samples in experimental group immediately after treatment (at 4 weeks) compared to ones in control group (p < 0.05). There was also a significant difference between baseline and 8 weeks or 12 weeks separately though color rebouncing phenomenon occurred as time went by (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The clinical effecacy and longevity of home bleaching without combined application of in-office bleaching was observed through this experiment.
It is evident that an elevation of airway albumin excreation rate without clinical proteinuria strongly predicts a later progression on diabetic renal disease. So we studied the correation between Microalbumin checkly RIA & Mitral-Test$^{(R)}$. We collected urine between 08 : 00 h and 08 : 00 h next day and then checked microalbuminuria by radioimmunoassay method and Mitral-Test$^{(R)}$ The results are as follows : 1. There was significant correation between microalbuminuria checked by RIA & Micral-Test$^{(R)}$ 2. There was poor correations between diabetes duration or HV-A1c and maximal change in albumin excreation rate. 3. So we conclued that Micral-Test$^{(R)}$ can be used in laboratory instead of RIA.
Thermal properties of amylose-lysolecithin (AL) complex, amylose content and effect of lysolecithin on the gelatinization of rice starch were investigated by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The melting temperature of AL complex was near to $108.5^{\circ}C$ and the melting enthalpy was about 1.0cal/g. The gelatinization temperature of rice starch was not affected by adding lysolecithin. However, the enthalpy of gelatinization was decreased. The amylose contents in rice varieties were calculated from melting enthalpy of AL complex. The amylose contents for Indica and Japonica types of rice were in the range of 16-19%, which were in good agreement with those determined by iodine binding method. Significant differences were not observed in the amylose contents between Indica and Japonica varieties.
1) The Moisture and glycogen contents of salted-oyster (Zin Suk Hwa Jut) were much less than those of raw oyster, while the free sugar content was dominent. 2) The amino acids were detected and identified as aspartic acid, glutamic acid, cystine, serine, glycine, lysine, threonine, histidine, alanine, arginine, valine, methionine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, leucine, iso-leucine and tryptophan in the juice of salted-oyster by using the method of paper chromatography, and the all essential amino acids from nutritional view point was admitted in this juice. 3) The juice contained 0.264mg/ml of tyrosine, 0.304mg/ml of arginine, 0.046mg/ml of tryptophan, 0.460mg/ml of histidine, 0.350mg/ml of methionine, 0.440mg/ml of cystine and 0.115mg/ml of phenylalanine.
In this study, we described a paper-based neuraminidase assay sensor (PNAS) which can be applied to detect the infection by influenza viruses. The PNAS was designed and manufactured to quantitatively identify the levels of neuraminidase in the sample, which is based on colorimetric analysis using the X-Neu5Ac substrate. The limit of detection of the PNAS was determined as 0.004 U/mL of neuraminidase. According to the amount of neuraminidase in human serum, the PNAS could monitor the enzyme activity with a good linearity ($R^2$ > 0.99). In addition, the initial performance of the PNAS has been maintained up to 70 days in the $4^{\circ}C$. Finally, we demonstrated whether the Michaelis-Menten kinetics is applied to the PNAS, which can show the reliability of the enzyme reactions. The kinetic studies indicated that the PNAS provides the good condition for enzyme reactions ($K_m=8.327{\times}10^{-3}M$), but they were performed on paper chip nonetheless. The paper-based neuraminidase assay sensor may be useful in a wide range of rapid and safe detection of influenza virus.
