Triboelectrostatic Recovery of High Zinc-Containing Particulate contents from Steel-Making Process Dust (전기로 제강분진 중 고아연함량입자 성분의 마찰대전분리 회수)

  • The amount of electric furnace dust has been steadily increasing due to the increase of iron scraps which are usually recycled by electric furnace melting process. To date, this electric furnace dust has usually been treated by landfilling, however, because of shortage of landfill sites and heavy metal leaching more desirable treatment schemes are urgently needed. Among several possible schemes for the proper treatment of electric furnace dust, its recycling can be said to be most desirable. In present study, the triboelectrostatic separation of zinc and zinc-containing components from electric furnace dust was attempted based on its physicochemical properties such as particle shape, size distribution, and chemical assay. The dust was found to be mixed with spherical and non-spherical shaped particles and its major component materials were $ZnFe_2$$O_4$, ZnO, Fe, Zn, and FeO. The content of zinc-containing components in the entire dust was observed to be in the range of 15~30 wt%, which reasonably justified that zinc is recyclable. The triboelectrostatic characteristic of each component material was found to be different each other since their work functions were different, and based on this characteristic zinc and zinc-containing component could be flirty separated from the dust. After selecting a proper tribo-elec-trification material, the separation features of zinc and zinc-containing component were examined by taking the distance of electrodes, electric field strength, and scavenging as the experimental variables. The highest zinc-content obtained under the optimal separating condition was found to be up to 50wt%.

Characteristics of Heavy Rainfall for Landslide-triggering in 2011 (2011년 집중호우로 인한 산사태 발생특성 분석)

  • Rainfall is widely recognized as a major landslide-triggering factor. Most of the latest landslides that occurred in South Korea were caused by short-duration heavy rainfall. However, the relationship between rainfall characteristics and landslide occurrence is poorly understood. To examine the effect of rainfall on landslide occurrence, cumulative rainfall(mm) and rainfall intensity(mm/hr) of serial rain and antecedent rainfall(mm) were analyzed for 18 landslide events that occurred in the southern and central regions of South Korea in June and July 2011. It was found that all of these landslides occurred by heavy rainfall for one or three days, with the rainfall intensity exceeding 30 mm/hr or with a cumulative rainfall of 200 mm. These plotted data are beyond the landslide warning criteria of Korea Forest Service and the critical line of landslide occurrence for Gyeongnam Province. It was also found that the time to landslide occurrence after rainfall start(T) was shortened with the increasing average rainfall intensity(ARI), showing an exponential-decay curve, and this relation can be expressed as "T = $94.569{\cdot}exp$($-0.068{\cdot}ARI$)($R^2$=0.64, p<0.001)". The findings in this study may provide important evidences for the landslide forecasting guidance service of Korea Forest Service as well as essential data for the establishment of non-structural measures such as a warning and evacuation system in the face of sediment disasters.

Effects of Fertigation of Piggery Waste Water on the Growth, the Yield of Red Pepper and the Chemical Properties of Soil under Protected Cultivation (시설재배토양에서 돈분뇨정화처리수 관비가 고추의 생육, 수량 및 토양화학성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of fertigation level such as 50%, 75% and 100% N of standard amount of chemical fertilizer,m and fertigation interval such as every irrigation, intervals of 1 and 2 weeks of piggery waste water(PWW) on the growth, yield of red pepper plant and the chemical properties of soil used. In early stage, growth of red pepper plant fertigated with PWW and that of red pepper plant applicated standard chemical fertilezer was the same, while it were increased as increasing application amounts of PWW, and later growth and total yield of red pepper plant were much more at 75% N fertigation of PWW. Inorganic content such as nitrogen, phosphate and potassium and chlorophyll content of red pepper leaves were increased as increasing fergigation amount of PWW. 50% fertigation level showed the lowest rate of fruit setting of red peper plant. For soil chemical properties, pH was slightly decreased, but available $P_2O_5$, and exchangeable K content were increased as increasing fertigation amount of PWW. Because there was not statistically significant difference in the growth, the yield of red pepper and chemical properties of soil used according to various fertigation intervals, and no need to artificially supply PWW, therefore fertigation by simple automatic system with tensiometer was thought to be better.

Evaluation of the Milk Productivity and Nutrient Balance of Forage Sources for Organic Dairy Farms in Korea (유기 조사료 급여 농가의 영양소 균형 및 유생산성 평가)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the milk productivity and nutrient balance in organic dairy farms located at Gochang-gun of Korea with different feed sources. The total number of organic dairy farms was 12 in 2012, 13 in 2013, and 14 in 2014. The numbers of farms and dairy herds were increased each year. The average milk yields in 2012, 2013, and 2014 were 25.5, 24.6, and 24.4 kg/d, respectively. The average milk fat contents in 2012, 2013, and 2014 were 3.5%, 3.6%, and 3.7%, respectively. The average milk protein contents in 2012, 2013, and 2014 were 3.3%, 3.4%, and 3.4% in 2012, 2013, and 2014, respectively. Although the average milk yield of organic dairy farms was 9 kg/cows/d less than the average milk yield of other dairy farms in Korea, milk fat and protein contents of organic dairy farms were higher than those of other dairy farms. Alfalfa hay, oat hay, corn silage, rye grass silage, Sudan grass silage, rice straw, and barley silage were commonly used as forage sources in organic dairy farms. The average silage intake (15.6 kg/cow/d) of organic dairy farms in 2013 was higher (P < 0.05), while the average hay intake (5.1 kg/cow/d) in 2014 was higher (P < 0.05) than that of other feed intake. Net energy for lactation ($NE_L$) and metabolizable protein (MP) were calculated in accordance with NRC (2001). Net energy for lactation intake was higher (P < 0.05) while MP intake was lower (P < 0.05) than NRC recommendation values in 2013 and 2014. These results indicate that domestic organic dairy farms should use feed considering energy and protein balance recommended by NRC.

  • In this study, the possibility of seismic performance design was proposed and the quality verification test method was reviewed as part of the design of waterproof performance in underground walls under accelerated environment conditions for waterproofing materials, which are barrier and finishing material that can prevent ingress or overflowing water from inside and outside of a building by attaching all of the construction materials used in construction structures. Considering the current state of earthquake-resistant design of construction materials in Korea and abroad, seismic product groups are rare and mostly dependent on construction methods because there are no regulations on materials, although there are still regulations on earthquake-resistant design in the building process under the current law. Overseas, it was possible to confirm that various building materials that gave seismic performance to non-structural materials, such as Japan, Canada, and Germany, are being developed. If it is possible to have a complementary response to earthquakes in the advanced external waterproofing materials, it can be expected to be applicable as leak prevention and prevention technology along with the seismic designed structure.

Effect of Various Sources of Fertilizers and Their Application Methods on Seedling Vigor in Rice for Machine Transplanting (비료(肥料)의 종류(種類)와 시비법(施肥法)이 상자육묘(箱子育苗)에 있어서 묘생육(苗生育)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of various fertilizers and their application methods on pH in seedbed soil and seedling vigor of rice cultivars, "Nagdong" and" Samgang", for machine transplanting. The application of amnonium sulfate as nitrogen sources showed higher plant height and dry weight of seedlings than those of the urea treated plot. Seedling rot was highly occured in the basal application of urea than that of split treatment of urea, while the lower seedling rot was observed in ammonium sulfate treated plot than that of treatment. Regardless of the application methods, the higher rooting ability was observed in anmonium sulfate treatment than that of urea. Ammonium sulfate and superphosphate as nitrogen and phosphate sources, respectively, showed lower pH level than that of urea and fused phosphate treated plots. The use of ammonium sulfate and super phosphate as nitrogen and phosphate sources, respectively, seems to be effective to maintain the optimum pH level and to rear the healthy seedling, than that of urea or fused phosphate application.

  • Natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis occur suddenly, so that they cause massive loss of lives and property. Especially earthquakes represent a particularly severe threat because of the extensive damage accompanied by them. In Korea, an earthquake-resistant design has been rarely applied to a design or construction of slope. However, in resent years, the researches for earthquake-resistance have been performed because the importance on the earthquake-resistance is perceived and highlighted. Soil nail method, one of the slope stability methods, is excellent for its constructability and cost effectiveness, as compared with other stability methods. Also, this method has been widely used for reinforced construction for slope stability. The studies of soil nail method have been performed on the interaction behavior between nails and slopes as well as the varied load condition such as static load, dynamic load and so on. Nevertheless, there has been minimal research regarding the constraint condition of nail head. In this study, the numerical analysis was performed for identifying effect on slope stability for the constrain condition of the soil nail. The result shows that the resistance of constrained the nail head on reinforced slope is larger compared to the one of unconstrained nail head.

Environmental impact on water quality from paddy fields treated liquid manure (액비시용에 따른 논 포장에서의 수질환경 영향)

  • 농경지에서의 액비 수요는 최근 증가하고 있으나 적정 액비시비량에 대한 기준과 사후 관리에 대한 명확한 기준이 없어 환경문제에 대한 고찰이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 시험포장을 선정하고 논에서의 질소 및 인의 동태를 모니터링하고, 관개수, 배출수 및 침투수 중 영양물질 및 중금속 잔류 특성을 분석하였다. 시험구는 대조구(화학비료 표준시비구, A)와 양돈분뇨액비 표준시비처리구(B)로 구성하였으며, 기상관측 측정을 위하여 자동기상관측기, 유입량은 수도미터계량기로 관측하였으며, 시험포장으로부터 유출량을 측정하기 위하여 압력식수위계를 각 처리구별로 설치하였다. 침투에 의한 영양물질의 유출부하량 평가를 위하여 침투계 1조 및 중금속 포집이 가능한 ceramic porus cup 4조를 각 처리구별로 설치하였다. 2014년 6월 9일 써래질 후, 6월 19일 $15{\times}30cm$, 1주 당 3본씩 "동진벼"를 기계이앙 실시하였고, 대조구 A는 농촌진흥청의 추천시비량, 처리구 B는 지상분무방식(액비시비 후 경운을 하는 방식 및 관개수 공급 후 액비를 시비하는 희석식)을 적용하였다. 기비 시비일은 6월 6일, 분얼비 시비일은 6월 26일, 수비 시비일은 7월 30일이었다. 강우량 대비 유출량 비인 유출률은 0.03에서 0.91까지 나타났으며, 담수의 수질조사는 평시 조사로 주 1회 실시하고 있으며, 분석결과는 SS의 경우 처리구 B가 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 영양물질(T-N, T-P 등)의 경우는 대조구 A에서 꾸준히 높은 농도를 보여주고 있으며 이들 농도는 시비 시기에 따라 첨두값이 다르게 나타났다. 특히 $TH_3-N$의 경우 휘발성이 강하기 때문에 처리구 B에서 매우 낮은 값을 보여주었다. 유출수의 화학성분 분석결과는 완효성인 화학비료의 특징으로 전체적으로 대조구 A에서 수질농도가 높게 나타났으며, BOD의 경우는 처리구 B에서 높게 나타났다. 침투수의 T-N은 대조구 A에서 상대적으로 높은 값을 보여주고 있으며 이는 $TH_3-N$의 휘발에 영향을 받는 것으로 보이며, $NO_3-N$은 처리구 B에서 더 높게 나타나 토양중으로 침출되는 양이 많은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 액비시용에 따른 농경지 위해성 평가와 관리방안 개발을 위한 1차년도의 연구 성과로서 지속적인 모니터링을 통하여, 향후 새만금 유역내 축산밀집지역에서 나타날 수 있는 축산분뇨 관리정책 개발의 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대한다.

Effect of K2O/N ratio in rice plant on yield components (수도(水稻)의 생육시기별(生育時期別) 체내(體內) K2O/N가 수량(收量) 및 수량구성요소(收量構成要素)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • In 1969, a pot experiment with four replications of 10 treatments including control(without potash) was carried out in order to study the effect of potash top-dressings in the condition of heavy nitrogen application on rice. The results obtained may be summarized as follows. 1. When potash was applied 70% as basic dressing and 30% as top-dressing at ear-formation stage, a considerable increase of the yield of paddy was obtained as compared to the treatment of the whole amount of potash as basic dressing. 2. The antagonism phenomenon of $K_2O$ contents with N contents in the plants appeared to be severe at the maximum reduction division stage and ear-formation stage is next. 3. $K_2O/N$ ratio gave a positive correlation with the yield components before heading and specially, $K_2O/N$ ratio at heading stage was considerably correlated with ripening percentage.

Effect of Fertilizer Applications on the Morphology and the Pharmaceutical Components of Paeonia albiflora Palls (시비관리(施肥管理)에 따른 작약(芍藥)(Paeonia albiflora Palls) 생육특성(生育特性)과 유효성분(有效成分) 연구(硏究))

  • This study was intended to find out the effect of the fertilizer applications on the changes of the morphology, yield and effective components -Paeonol, Benzoic acid, Oxypaeoniflorin, Albiflorin and Paeoniflorin- of Paeonia albiflora Palls. The treatments of the field experiment were designed as follows ; conventional fertilization(R), organic fertilization(OF), chemcial fertiliazation(CF), combination of organic and chemical fertilization(OCF), and 50% and 100% increase of the chemcial fertilizers in combination treatments (OCF-50, OCF-100). The results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1. Depending on the treatments, the changes of the growth characteristics of the aboveground part were not significant, but the yield of the root had a significance on OCF-100. 2. The large quantities of effective components in Paeonia albiflora Palls were increased from the first year to the second year. 3. The excess phosphate application in the conventional fertilization affected to decrease the root yield and the effective components in its root. 4. The organic fertilizer was more favorable to the yield and the contents of the effective components of Paeonia albiflora Palls than the chemical fertilizer. OCF-50 and OCF-100 had higher values of yield and the amounts of the effective components than the treatments of the organic fertilizers.
