  • In this paper, we propose a novel true-motion estimation technique supporting efficient frame error concealment for error-resilient video coding. In general, it is important to accurately obtain the true-motion of objects in video sequences for effectively recovering the corrupted frame due to transmission errors. However, the conventional motion estimation (ME) technique, which minimizes a sum of absolute different (SAD) between pixels of the current block and the motion-compensated block, does not always reflect the true-movement of objects. To solve this problem, we introduce a new metric called an absolute difference of motion vectors (ADMV) which is the distance between motion vectors of the current block and its motion-compensated block. The proposed ME method can prevent unreliable motion vectors by minimizing the weighted combination of SAD and ADMV. In addition, the proposed ME method can significantly improve the performance of error concealment at the decoder since error concealment using the ADMV can effectively recover the missing motion vector without any information of the lost frame. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides similar coding efficiency to the conventional ME method and outperforms the existing error-resilient method.

  • In an effort to increase the data capacity of one-dimensional symbology, 2D barcodes have been proposed a decade ago. In this paper, we present an effective 2D barcode detection algorithm from gray-level images, especially for the handheld 2D barcode recognition system. To locate the symbol inside the image, a criteria based on the block contrast is adopted, and a gray-scale projection with sub-pixel operation is utilized to segment the symbol precisely from the region of interest(ROI). Finally, the segmented ROI is normalized using the inverse perspective transformation for the following decoding processes. We also introduce the post-processing steps for decoding the QR-code. The proposed method ensures high performances under various lighting/printing conditions and strong perspective deformations. Experiments shows that our method is very robust and efficient in detecting the code area for the various types of 2D barcodes in real time.

  • In Block Matching Algorithm (BMA), a search pattern has a very important affect on the search time and the output quality. In this paper, we propose the HDS( Half Diamond Search) pattern based on the cross center-biased distribution property of a motion vector. At lust, the 4 points in the above, below, left, and right around the search center is calculated to decide the point of the MBD (Minimum Block Distortion). And an above point of the MBD is checked to calculate the SAD. If the SAD is less than the previous MBD, this process is repeated. Otherwise, the left and right points of MBD are calculated to decide the points that have the MBD between two points. These processes are repeated to the predicted direction for motion estimation. Experiments show that the speedup improvement of the proposed algorithm can be up to 23% while maintaining similar image quality.

  • With supply of the domestic digital camera, the relative importance of the digital camera is coming to be high gradually on aerial photogrammetry, the image of digital camera is more applied in image map or digital topographic map production. But, there are cases that do not have position information or attitude information of each photograph in digital camera results. Therefore, we wish to present additional method to get more accurate photograph control point result. In this study, One is called A method, which is the case of entering positioning information of principal point from topographic map as default values that are need to extract tie point automatically using by 56 pieces of photography that are photographed by DMC to the extent to 5 courses and 35 GCP points. The other is called B-method, which is the case of entering exterior orientation parameters that are processed by block adjustment for A-method using by 4 control points in method-1 as default values. We have analyzed about results per control points arrangement for two cases using MATCH-AT that is photograph control point measurement S/W of Germany INPHO company. As a result of analysis, accuracy of B-method was better than that of A-method, and we could get more accurate results if block adjustments are executed including self calibration. Also, it is more effective in expense side that using self calibration for photograph survey in B-method because can reduce GCP numbers.

  • In this paper, a new stereo object extraction algorithm using a block-based MSE (mean square error) algorithm and the configuration parameters of a stereo camera is proposed. That is, by applying the SSD algorithm between the initial reference image and the next stereo input image, location coordinates of a target object in the right and left images are acquired and then with these values, the pan/tilt system is controlled. And using the moving angle of this pan/tilt system and the configulation parameters of the stereo camera system, the mask window size of a target object is adaptively determined. The newly segmented target image is used as a reference image in the next stage and it is automatically updated in the course of target tracking basing on the same procedure. Meanwhile, a target object is under tracking through continuously controlling the convergence and FOV by using the sequentiall extracted location coordinates of a moving target.

  • Among the compression methods of moving picture information, a motion estimation method is used to remove time-repeating. The Block Matching Algorithm in motion estimation methods is the commonest one. In recent days, it is required the more advanced high quality in many image processing fields, for example HDTV, etc. Therefore, we have to accomplish not by means of Partial Search Algorithm, but by means of Full Search Algorithm in Block Matching Algorithm. In this paper, it is suggested a structure that reduce total calculation quantity and size, because the structure using Bit Plane select and use only 3bit of 8bit luminance signal.

  • GPS location information storage included in the HD black box is using a unique manner for each manufacturer does not have a specific standard. In this paper, in order to overcome the limitations of the storage space and thereby the image quality according to store GPS position information deteriorate to solve the problems that cause, we propose the location information concealment method included in the HDTV video content using a essential hidden region. HDTV video content is a Border Extender of 8 lines in the frame to the bottom of the compression will be required. This was inserted into the image of a gray scale used in block form in order to space the current position information is concealed to prevent image degradation. The proposed method was confirmed using real HD black box, there are more difficult to interpret the format of the ASCII code re-edit the location information when the compression effect disappears with the existing security zones added. Therefore, the proposed method is suitable for location-based services, such as Facebook or Youtube videos.

  • In this paper, fingerprint identification algorithm using pixel direction factor in blocks is proposed to minimize false acceptance ratio and to apply security system. The proposed algorithm is that a fingerprint image is divided by 16 blocks, then feature parameters which have direct factors of $0^{\circ},\;45^{\circ},\;90^{\circ}\;and\;135^{\circ}$ is extracted for each block. Membership function of a reference fingerprint and an input fingerprint for the extracted parameters is calculated, then identification of two fingerprint is distinguished using fuzzy inference. False acceptance ratio is evaluated about different fingerprints of In kinds regardless of sex and shape which are obtained from adults, and false rejection ratio is evaluated about fingerprints which are obtained by adding fingerprints of 10 kinds on different fingerprints of 100 kinds. The experiment results is that false acceptance ratio is average $0.34\%$ about experiment of 4,950 times, and false rejection ratio is average $3.7\%$ about experiment of 1,000 times. The proposed algerian is excellent for recognition rate and security.

  • Various models incorporating Human Visual System (HVS) with the Hadamard transform (HT) represented by Walsh functions are considered. Using the exact frequency components of HT basis functions, the optimum modulation transfer function (MTF) which has a higher peak frequency than DCT schemes is obtimum modulation transfer function (MTF) which has a higher peak frequency than DCT schemes is obtained analytically and visually. The main criterion, for error measurement, is errors at the block boundaries which is an important factor in transform coding. The scheme which has no inverse HVS is proposed. It causes some degradation of image data but it is insignigicant. Crossing area of 4 blocks is equalized by the HVS weighting coefficients. The HVS weighted coding results in perceptually higher quality images compared with the unweighted scheme.
