Characteristic analysis of flowfield around a square prism having a detached splitter plate using the PIV (PIV에 의한 분리된 분할판을 가진 정방형주 주위의 유동장 특성 분석)

  • The Flowfield characteristics of a square prism having a detached splitter plate at the wake region were investigated by visualization of the flow field using PIV. The experimental parameters were the width ratios(H/B=0.5~1.5) of the splitter plate to the prism width and the gap ratios (G/B=0~2) between the prism and the splitter plate. As the results the Strouhal number measured at the wake region of the detached splitter plate was decreased with the width ratio and the gap ratio. The clockwise vortex at the upside of the splitter plate and counterclockwise vortex at the downside were represented, the size of these vortices were increased with the width of the splitter plate. The reverse flow was represented at the wake region of the square prism having a detached splitter plate, the size of this reverse flow was increased with the width of the splitter plate.

  • The passive control by vertical splitter plate of fluid force acting on a square prism near a plane wall was studied by measuring of fluid force on the prism and by visualization of the flow field using PIV. The hight of the splitter plate was 10% of the square width. The experimental parameters were the attaching position of vertical splitter plate and the space ratios G/B to the prism height. Time variation of vorticity was most remarkable at 3.0B(B: prism height) position toward wake direction from the center of the prism. The point of inflection of average lift coefficient and Strouhal number on the prism were represented at the space ratio G/B=0.4~0.6 for the prism having vertical splitter plate. The drag of the prism was reduced average 5.0% with the space ratios by attaching the vertical splitter plate at the upper and rear corner on the prism. In this case, the size of the separated region on the upside of the prism was smaller than that of prism having no the splitter plate.

  • 교통 법규 위반 단속이나 주차 관리를 위한 차량 번호판 인식 시스템을 구현하기 위해서는 크게 차량 번호판 추출, 문자 분할, 문자 인식의 세부분으로 이루어진다. 본 논문에서는 차량 번호판 인식 시스템의 구현을 위해 번호판 영역의 색상정보를 이용하여 차량 번호판을 추출하는 방법을 제안하고, 번호판 영역 문자들의 사전 정보와 색상성분을 사용하여 정확하게 번호판 문자 분할을 하는 방법을 제안한다. 자가용과 영업용 차량 영상을 주간/dirks 및 정면/후면으로 나누어 다양하게 취득하여 실험한 결과, 94.6%의 번호판 추출률과 86.8%의 문자분할률을 얻었다.

Drag Reduction on a Square Prism Using a Detached Splitter Plate (분리된 분할판에 의한 정방형주의 항력감소)

  • The Characteristics of the drag reduction of a square prism having a detached splitter plate at the wake side were investigated by measuring of lift and drag on the square prism. The experimental parameters were the width ratios(H/B=0.5~1.5) of splitters to the prism width and the gap ratios (G/B=0~2) between the prism and the splitter plate. As the results the amplitude of the lift on the square prism having a detached splitter plate was remarkably decreased by comparison with the prototypical square prism. The drag reduction rate of the square prism was increased with H/B in case of the same G/B, and was increased and decreased with G/B in case of the same H/B. The maximum drag reduction rate was represented by 24.2% at H/B=1.5 and G/B=0.5.

  • The characteristics of the unsteady flowfield of a square prism having a detached splitter plate at the wake side were investigated by advanced vortex method. The instantaneous and average velocity field and pressure field around a square prism without and having splitter plate were calculated by forcing the gap ratio having the maximum drag reduction rate, at Reynolds number $Re=1.0{\times}10^4$ and the width ratio H/B=1.0 of splitter to the prism width. The drag and lift coefficients on the square prism were also obtained. The calculated results agree with the measured drag coefficients and pressure distributions on the square prism. The vortices of the opposite direction at upside and down side of the splitter plate were generated by installing of the plate. And the drag on the square prism was decreased by increasing of the pressure of back face of the prism with the vortices.

검증용 위성 열모델을 이용한 위성 방열판 최적설계

  • 위성의 방열판 설계 과정은 수치해석을 위해 위성을 모델링한 열모델에서 분할 격자인 노드를 기준으로 방열판 위치와 형상, 크기를 조절하면서 한계 온도조건을 만족할 때까지 설계 엔지니어의 판단에 의존하여 열해석을 반복하는 것이 보편적인 방식이다. 대부분 방열판 면적을 줄이기 위한 추가적인 노력을 하지 않기 때문에 필요 이상의 과도한 방열판 설계를 하는 경우가 많은 것이 사실이다. 이러한 방열판 설계에서 최소한의 방열판 면적을 사용하여 한계 온도를 만족하도록 설계를 최적화 한다면 무엇보다 전체 위성 열설계의 효율성과 경제성을 높일 수 있는 바탕이 될 수 있을 것이다. 위성의 방열판 설계는 방열판 영역 내에서 동일한 면적을 가지더라도 위치나 형상에 따라 그 효과가 상당히 차이가 날 수 있기 때문에 실제 방열판 설계에서는 이러한 점을 고려하는 것이 필수적이다. 먼저 위성은 열해석에 알맞는 격자 크기로 분할된 노드로 이루어진 열모델로 모델링되어 개발된다. 방열판이 설계되는 방열판 영역 역시 격자 모양의 노드로 분할되기 때문에 열해석을 이용하여 방열판 설계를 한다면 노드 크기를 기준으로 노드 분할 형태에 따라 설계를 한다. 그래서 위성 열모델에서 방열판 영역의 각 노드가 방열판 노드 여부에 따라 모자이크와 같은 분포의 방열판 설계를 하게 되므로 방열판 노드 분포의 최적화가 방열판 최적 설계를 의미하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 방열판 설계 최적화를 위해 일반적인 위성 프로그램의 열제어 개발에서 사용하는 위성 열모델과 열해석 프로그램을 최적화 기법과 동일한 언어로 다시 개발해야 하는 부담 없이 그대로 최적화 기법과 연동할 수 있도록 하는 방법을 제안하고, 실제 소형의 검증용 위성 열모델을 개발하여 여러 가지 해석 조건에 따른 방열판 최적 설계 결과를 비교하고 검토함으로써 이러한 접근 방식을 검증해보고자 하였다.

  • In this study, we investigate the characteristics of the drag reduction of a circular cylinder having a detached splitter plate at the wake side. We measure the fluid force on a circular cylinder and visualize the field using particle image velocimetry (PIV) with a high Reynolds number, Re = 10,000. The experimental paraeters used were the width ratios (H/B = 0.5~1.5) of splitters to the prism width and the gap ratios (G/B = 0~2) between the prism and the splitter plate. The drag-reduction rate of the circular cylinder increased with H/B in the case of the same G/B, and it increased and then decreased with G/B in the case of the same H/B. The vortices of the opposite direction on the upper and lower sides of the detached splitter plate were generated by installing the plate. Reverse flow was caused by the vortices at the wake region of the circular cylinder, and the drag of the circular cylinder was decreased by the reverse flow.

  • The drag reduction effect of a freely-rotatable splitter plate was experimentally investigated in the 2-D wake behind a circular cylinder. By arranging the splitter plate to be aparted with a certain gap from the cylinder, the splitter plate was able to be aligned itself automatically to the flow direction in the tested range of 6.2$\times$$10^3$$\times$$10^4$. As a result, it was proven that the self-adjustable splitter plate always reduced effectively the drag imposed on the body against any arbitrary flow directions. In a specific range of Reynolds numbers, the drag reduction effect was dependent not only on the length of the splitter plate but also on the gap distance between the plate and the trailing edge of the body. For a splitter plate with a specific length, there existed a unique optimum range of gap distance to obtain successfully the drag reduction effect, however, the optimum range of gap distance was dependent on Reynolds number.

  • The passive control of fluid force acting on a square prism near a plane wall was studied by attaching horizontal splitter plate on the corner of the prism. The width of the splitter plate was 10% of the square width. The experiments were performed by measuring of fluid force on the prism and by visualization of the flow field using PIV. The experimental parameters were the attaching position and the space ratios G/B between the prism and wall. The flow between the prism and wall was remarkable and Karman vortex in the wake of the prism was considerable in the space ratio over 0.4. The point of inflection of average lift coefficient and Strouhal number on the prism were represented at the space ratio G/B=0.4 for the prototype prism and G/B=0.6 for the prism having horizontal splitter plate. The drag of the prism was reduced average 4.5% with the space ratios by attaching the horizontal splitter plate at the rear and lower corner on the prism. In this case, the size of the separated region on the upside of the prism was smaller than that of prism without the splitter plate.

An Algorithm for Segmenting the License Plate Region of a Vehicle Using a Color Model (차량번호판 색상모델에 의한 번호판 영역분할 알고리즘)

  • The license plate recognition (LPR) unit consists of the following core components: plate region segmentation, individual character extraction, and character recognition. Out of the above three components, accuracy in the performance of plate region segmentation determines the overall recognition rate of the LPR unit. This paper proposes an algorithm for segmenting the license plate region on the front or rear of a vehicle in a fast and accurate manner. In the case of the proposed algorithm images are captured on the spot where unmanned monitoring of illegal parking and stowage is performed with a variety of roadway environments taken into account. As a means of enhancing the segmentation performance of the on-the-spot-captured images of license plate regions, the proposed algorithm uses a mathematical model for license plate colors to convert color images into digital data. In addition, this algorithm uses Gaussian smoothing and double threshold to eliminate image noises, one-pass boundary tracing to do region labeling, and MBR to determine license plate region candidates and extract individual characters from the determined license plate region candidates, thereby segmenting the license plate region on the front or rear of a vehicle through a verification process. This study contributed to addressing the inability of conventional techniques to segment the license plate region on the front or rear of a vehicle where the frame of the license plate is damaged, through processing images in a real-time manner, thereby allowing for the practical application of the proposed algorithm.
