The Effect of Particle Size Distribution of the Nongraphitic Carbon on the Performance of Negative Carbon Electrode in Lithium Ion Secondary Battery (무정형 탄소의 입도분포에 따른 리튬이온이차전지의 탄소부극 특성)

  • Material and electrochemical characteristics of petroleum coke of the nongraphitic carbon prepated with attrition milling for 6~48 hours and heat-treatment at $700^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour was investigated. The milling condition affects the particle size distribution, BET specific surface area and interlayer distance of petroleum cokes. Carbon electrode with petroleum cokes prepared at the milling time of 12~24 hours and having average particle size of $6{\sim}8{\mu}m$ showed best electrochemical characteristics form the investigation of cyclic voltammogram and charge-discharge characteristics.

  • Crude copper phthalocyanine (Cupc) was synthesized by Wyler process, then grounded using various methods such as acid pasting, kneader, attritor and SC-mill. Particle size, shape and crystalline structure were compared and evaluated after particle size reductions. Cupcs prepared by acid pasting and kneader methods that are excellent manufacturing processes in industry were used as our standards. Particle properties of Cupcs prepared either by attritor or by SC-mill were compared with particle size analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Particle size analyzer and SEM were used to analyze the variation of particle sizes of Cupc with milling time. Particle size was initially decreased up to the 90 min of milling time, thereafter it reversely began to increase in case of SC-mill. Cupc obtained from dry milling with attritor displayed strong cohesion so that particle size was not possible to determine with particle size analyzer. However, the optimum milling time was indirectly approximated from the analysis of XRD peak intensity.

  • Since cerium carbonate becomes porous cerium oxide by releasing carbon dioxide and vapour steam during calcination of cerium carbonate, nano size cerium oxide can be obtained by milling calcined cerium carbonate. Therefore cerium carbonate [$Ce_2(CO_3)3{\cdot}XH_2O$] is used generally for the preparation of nano size cerium oxide. In order to obtain nano size cerium oxide from cerium carbonate prepared by reactive crystallization of cerium chloride solution and ammonium bicarnonate solution, the effects of experimental variables in the milling and calcination of cerium carbonate, such as calcination temperature, milling time, rpm of planetary mill, amount of dispersant and ball size for milling on the size of cerium oxide was investigated in this study. Cerium oxide prepared with the conditions of calcination temperature of $700^{\circ}C$, milling time of 5 hour was 160nm mean particle size.

  • The possibility of producing the pigments from potash feldspar was studied by adopting the mechanical alloying technique under various gas environments. The experiments were carried out by varying grinding time with the addition of copper metal and titanium oxide in N₂, O₂, He, CO₂, H₂and air atmospheres. The mixture of the potash feldspar concentrate and copper and titanium dioxide are finely ground by a planetary ball mill, and then the composite powders were calcined at 1200℃ for 20 minutes. As a result, the calcined feldspar with 1 wt% of Cu has shown various colors like green in air, black in O₂, dark green in CO₂, brown in H₂, purple in He, and pale green in N₂ atmospheres, respectively.

  • This study aimed to prepare antimony-doped tin oxide (ATO) dispersion with high stability. The methods to achieve this goal were sought by investigating the changes of ATO particle size, size distribution, dispersion property as wet ball milling treatment time increased. And the changes of wet ball milled ATO dispersion property were also investigated, as pH increased. The changes of ATO particle size and size distribution, according to wet ball milling treatment time were evaluated with laser diffraction particle size analyzer and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The changes of ATO dispersion property, as wet ball milling treatment time and pH increased, were evaluated with zeta potential analysis and Turbiscan. By 60 min wet ball milling treatment time, ATO particle size decreased and size distribution became narrower, as the treatment time increased. After 60 min milling, the ATO particle size decreased to less than 30% of the initial size and the size distribution was narrowed to $0.1{\sim}5{\mu}m$ from $1{\sim}35{\mu}m$. However, more than 60 min milling, ATO particles aggregated and the particle size increased. ATO dispersion stability also increased as the treatment time and pH increased because the reduced particle size increased particle surface energy and repulsion between particles and the increased pH enhanced particle surface ionization. Hence, after proper length of wet ball milling treatment, highly stable ATO dispersion can be prepared, as increasing pH of the dispersion.

Characteristics of whole buckwheat by wet grinding over time (습식분쇄 시간에 따른 통메밀 분말의 품질특성)

  • This study was conducted to that investigate the quality characteristics of wet-ground whole-grain buckwheat powder for the buckwheat husk. The particle size of buckwheat rice was 74.84 ${\mu}m$, which was approximately four to five times larger than wet-ground whole buckwheat by wet grinding. The particle size showed that there was no significant difference after 90 min on wet grinding. The total phenolics and total flavonoids contents of the whole buckwheat powder were higher than those of buckwheat rice, and they gradually increased wet grinding progressed. The rutin contents of the buckwheat increased after wet grinding and was 152.90 ppm at 90 min. There was no significant difference in the quercetin contents after wet grinding at different times. The mineral contents (Ca, K and Mg) of the whole buckwheat powder were greater than those of the buckwheat rice. Further, Zn and Mn were detected in the whole buckwheat powder. The total amino acid content of the whole buckwheat powder increased to 22.27 mg%, and the important glutamic acid increased from 14.58 to 30.45 mg%. These study results were based on 90 min wet-grinding time for whole-buckwheat-powder manufacture. Whole buckwheat powder manufactured through wet grinding can be used as an active ingredient of buckwheat husk.

  • 육각판상 Ba-ferrite의 stacking 현상은 자성도료의 도포 후 자장배향를 행할 때 일어나는 것으로 알려져 있으나 분말의 건식분쇄시에도 일어났다. Edge mill을 사용하여 건식분쇄할 때 치환형 Ba-ferrite 분말의 보자력과 tap density는 거의 비례적으로 증가하였고, 분쇄시간보다는 가해지는 압력에 크게 의존하였다. 이 때 보자력의 증가원인은 분쇄시 생성되는 입자간의 stacking 현상에 기인된 것임을 투과전자현미경 관찰로부터 확인하였다. 분말의 tap density가 증가함에 따라 tape에서 분산초기의 광택도가 크게 감소되어 분산성은 떨어졌으나, 배향도는 tap density 1.3 g/$cm^{3}$에서 최대를 나타내었다. 과도한 건식분쇄에 의해 생성된 강고한 stacked cluster는 자성도료 제조시 분산성과 배향도를 동시에 떨어뜨리는 역할을 함을 알 수 있었다.

Improvement of Grinding Efficiency in Red-Pepper Milling Using Ceramic Roller mill (고추 분쇄용 세라믹 롤 분쇄기의 분쇄효율 향상)

  • 본 연구는 고추분쇄용 세라믹 롤 분쇄기를 이용하여 고춧가루 생산시, 분쇄효율을 향상시키고자 기존의 롤 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s)에서 80rpm(0.704%)으로 증가시키고, 기존의 롤 회전비 2:1에서 5:1로 증가시켜 고추분쇄시 전단력 증가로 분쇄능을 향상시켰고, 연구 내용의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 세라믹치형롤 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s)에서는 롤 회전비 2:1에서 1,190$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자가 32.7%, 590$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자가 19.7%였고, 롤 회전비를 5:1로 증가시 590$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자가 30.9%, 420$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자가 17.2%로 중간 미분쇄 영역의 분포가 증가하여 미분쇄 효율이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다. 2. 분쇄물의 롤 통과횟수에 따른 분쇄능은 세라믹치형롤 모두 분쇄속도 80rpm(0.704m/s)에서 분쇄물의 미분쇄능이 향상되었고, 분쇄생성물의 임계처리 횟수가 3~4차임을 분석할 수 있었다. 3. 보통 고춧가루를 생산하는데 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s), 80rpm(0.704m/s), 두 롤의 회전비 2:1, 3:1, 4:1하에서는 생산되지 않았으나, 롤 회전비 5:1에서는 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s)일 경우 7차 분쇄후에, 분쇄속도 80rpm(0.704m/s)일 경우 5차분쇄후에 생성되어 분쇄처리횟수가 2회정도 단축되어 전단력 증가로 인하여 분쇄능이 향상된 것으로 분석되었다. 4. 기존의 고춧가루 분쇄조건인 분쇄속도 40rpm(0.352m/s), 롤 회전비 2:1보다 본 연구에서 개발한 분쇄속도 80rpm(0.704m/s), 롤 회전비 5:1인 분쇄조건이, 분쇄처리 횟수 단축 등이 분석됨으로서 섬유질이 많이 포함된 고춧가루 등의 재료가공 분쇄기술이 향상된 것으로 분석되었다.. 마늘재배 일관기계화에 의한 노동투하시간과 비용 -종자준비부터 통마늘선별까지의 일관기계화로 투입된 주요작업의 노력은 75∼76%가 절감되고, 재배규모 3ha기준시 비용은 44-53%절감되었음. the annealing texture. Impurity Pick-Up for the Preparation of NiCuZn Ferrite Powder Using Ball Milling Process (NiCuZn Ferrite 분말제조에 있어서 Ball Mill 분쇄 공정 중에 혼입되는 불순물의 함량)

  • The pick up impurity was studied for preparing the NiCuZn ferrite powder by a ball milling method that usually uses in the industrial ceramic process. The raw materials of NiO, CuO, ZnO, and $Fe_2O_3$ powder were weighted according to various spinel composition and mixed for 18 hrs by a wet ball milling method after that the slurry was followed by spray dried and calcined at $700^{\circ}C$ 3 hrs. The calcined NCZF powder was finally ball milled during 65 hrs as same method. The stainless steel ball and jar are used as mixing and milling equipment and the solid concentration of the slurry was 25 vol%. The impurities, stainless steel pickup, were effected by the composition of raw materials especially iron oxide, nickel oxide in the mixing process and by the rate of calcine of NiCuZn ferrite in final milling process. The empirical equation of stainless steel pickup was driven in the wet ball milling system. Finally, the composition of NiCuZn ferrite could be controlled by the empirical equation.

Effect of Corn Processing Method on Degradability and Fermentation Characteristics in Rumen of Hanwoo (옥수수 가공 방식이 반추위 소화특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate effect of corn flake and corn ground on nutrient digestibility and fermentation characteristics of rumen in Hanwoo. The animals used were three Hanwoo cows implanted with ruminal fistula. Corn were categorized in 2 groups based on the corn processing method: Ground and Flake. The rumen digestibility of dry matter, starch, nitrogen free extract and non fiber carbohydrates were increased in flake compared to ground from 3 to 24 hours of incubation(P<0.05). The pH of rumen was lower in the flaked treatment than ground treatment at 3 hours after incubation, but average pH was no significantly difference between treatments. The average acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acid were significantly increased in the flaked treatments compared to the ground treatment (P<0.05). Thus, flake processing can improve the carbohydrate availability of corn in the rumen and increase feed value.
