In this study HDS(hydrodesulfurization) of thiophene was researched over nickel catalysts added with small amounts of neodymium which were prepared by different methods such as unsupported coprepricipitated NdNi catalysts, unsupported intermetallic $NdNi_5$ catalysts, and carbon supported NdNi catalyst. The HDS activity was remarkably increased when a small amounts of neodymium was added to unsupported coprecipitated Ni catalysts. Thus it was known that the role of Nd is important in HDS of thiophene of Ni catalysts. For the case of unsupported intermetallic $NdNi_5$, the intermetallic crystallinity was destroyed to oxide and sulfide after calcination and presulfidation respectively. The HDS activity of thiophene can be explained by surface area of unsupported catalysts. And Nd acts like as structural promoter keeping the high surface area of unsupported catalysts. The HDS activity was increased by each ten times based on 1 gr. of nickel in the order of unsupported intermetallic $NdNi_5$, unsupported coprecipitated NdNi, and carbon supported NdNi catalysts according to different preparation method of catalysts.
It may not be strange to anticipate that the forth-coming epoch of electronic government would bring us lots of convenience on account of ubiquitous environment with mobile devices. Such environment enables us to access the up-to-date information anytime and also a worker to carry out administration services to perform one's line of duty at anytime with electronic, handy devices such as PDA. What we now recognize from the field of electronic traffic administration services is that the office work flow as well as the public services has been remarkably improved by using of not only text but video and image information under the distributed, mobile environment. One of key requirements of this kinds of services is the feature of exchanging various information among multiple information publishers and subscribers. We call this feature Messaging Services generally The study in this paper focuses on the architecture design of the Messaging Engine software, complying with the pattern-oriented software architecture design methodology. And our contribution also goes to the discovery of three architecture patterns found in the design process and the efficient multi-threading architecture compared to one of the Messaging Engine solutions.
The current test procedure for transfer length, which determine transfer length by measuring concrete strain, has an actual bond stress state in the prestressed pretensioned member : however, it is difficult to determine the bond properties of maximum bond stress and bond stiffness with this method. It is also difficult for design engineer to understand and select a correct safety criterion from the widely distributed results of such a ransfer test alone. An alternative testing procedure is provided here to determine the bond properties without measuring the concrete strain. In this test the bond stress is measured directly by creating a similar boundary condition within the transfer length in a real beam during the transfer of prestressing force. The prestressing force was released step by step by step from the unloading side. The release of force induces a swelling of the strand at the unloading side of concrete block, bonding force in the block, and a bond slip of the strand toward the other side of the block. Two center-hole load cells are used to record the end loads until the point of general bond slip(maximum bond stress). It is suggested that this test procedure be performed with the ordinary transfer test when determining the transfer length in a prestressed, pretensioned concrete beam.
More and more people are suffering from sleep disturbance, which can have many different causes. The healthcare industry, which can help people with this disability, is one technology that is currently in the spotlight. However, current services are vulnerable to data concentration, because they are simple telemedicine services that transmit all data to a remote server and process the data on the server. They have a disadvantage in that the data cannot be streamed in real time by synchronizing the biometric data of remotely protected persons. In order to solve this problem, we propose a service structure for streaming biometric data of protected persons to a hospital or guardian in real time, using a self-organizing distributed middleware platform without a central server. We prove that it is possible to provide an effective streaming service by evaluating the service start time and average delay time.
In this paper, we give a detailed description of KDSM(KAIST Distributed Shared Memory) system. KDSM is implemented as a user-level library running on Linux 2.2.13, and TCP/IP is used for communication. KDSM uses page-based invalidation protocol, multiple-writer protocol, and supports HLRC(Home-based Lazy Release Consistency) memory consistency model. To evaluate performance of KDSM, we executed 4 scientific applications and compared the result to JLAJLA. The results showed that performance of KDSM almost equal to JIAJIA for 2 applications and performance of KDSM is better than JIAJIA for 2 applications.

Wavelet transform is a useful tool for analysis and process of image. This showed good performance in image compression and noise reduction. Wavelet coefficients can be effectively modeled by hidden Markov tree(HMT) model. However, in application of HMT model to image interpolation, training procedure is needed. Moreover, the parameters obtained from training procedure do not match input image well. In this paper, the structure of HMT is used for image interpolation, and the parameters of HMT are obtained from statistical characteristics across wavelet subbands without training procedure. In the proposed method, wavelet coefficient is modeled as Gaussian mixture model(GMM). In GMM, state transition probabilities are determined from statistical transition characteristic of coefficient across subbands, and the variance of each state is estimated using the property of exponential decay of wavelet coefficient. In simulation, the proposed method shows improvement of performance compared with conventional bicubic method and the method using HMT model with training.

We propose a group-based security scheme for hierarchical wireless sensor networks. We model the network for secure routing with 3-tier sensor network comprised of three types of nodes: Base Station, Group Dominator and ordinary Sensor Nodes. Group-based deployment is performed using Gaussian (normal) distribution and show that more than 85% network connectivity can be achieved with the proposed model. The small groups with pre-shared secrets form the secure groups where group dominators form the backbone of the entire network. The scheme is devised for dealing with sensory data aggregated by groups of collocated sensors; i.e., local sensed data are collected by the dominating nodes and sent an aggregated packet to the base station via other group dominators. The scheme is shown to be light-weight, and it offers a stronger defense against node capture attacks. Analysis and simulation results are presented to defend our proposal. Analysis shows that robustness can significantly be improved by increasing the deployment density using both the dominating and/or ordinary sensor nodes.

This paper investigates a design of optimization database structure layout of Message Oriented Analysis and Management Tool (MOMAT) for naval combat systems (NCS). The NCS is composed of heterogeneous and large-scale component such as communication service and data distribution servcies (DDS). Each components are massively made the data as components. To manage the messages, MOMAT is developed. Typical modeling tool have problems that low performance due to duplicate database tables. An efficient design that one of the database optimization is proposed to solve the problems in this paper. It reduces the number of tables and improves application response and processing time. Experiment results shows that an availability of proposed method in MOMAT and decrease of both amount of data from client node to server and sever load.

DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) / IDCT(Inverse DCT) is widely used in various image compression and decompression systems as well as in DSP(Digital Signal Processing) applications. Since DCT/ IDCT is one of the most complicated part of the compression system, the performance of the system can be greatly enchanced by improving the speed of DCT/IDCT operation. In this thesis, we designed a DCT/IDCT core processor using module generator technique. By utilizing the partial sum and DA(Distributed Arithmetic) techniques, the DCT/ IDCT core processor is designed within small area. It is also designed to perform the IDCT(Inverse DCT) operation with little additional circuitry. The pipeline structure of the core processor enables the high performance, and the high accuracy of the DCT/IDCT operation is obtained by having fewer rounding stages. The proposed design is independent of design rules, and the number of the input bits and the accuracy of the internal calculation coa be easily adjusted due to the module generator technique. The accuracy of the processor satisfies the specifications in CCITT recommendation H, 261.

Korean military is developing the next generation military satellite communications system in order to achieve the requirements of future military satellite communication such as high speed, high capacity, survivability, all IP networking, and on-the-move. In this paper, we survey and analyze the research interests about optimal resource allocation and IP networking such as MF-TDMA, random access, satellite IP routing, and PEP. Conventional researches have focused on the increase in channel throughput and efficiency. In addition to these measurements, we consider heterogeneous satellite terminals, full mesh topology, distributed network, anti-jamming, and the like which are the special characteristics of the next generation military satellite communications system. Based on this, we present key research issues and evaluation on the issues by simulation.
