Domestic eco-friendly vehicles currently account for 5.8% of the total registered vehicles in Korea. Hydrogen vehicles, one of the representative eco-friendly vehicles, have grown rapidly as they have been expanded to the market based on the government's policy to boost the hydrogen industry. Therefore, it is time to expand the safety review of hydrogen vehicles in various directions according to the increase in supply. In this study, the effect of internal heat damage was analyzed when a jet flame was generated by a hydrogen car in a road tunnel. It was simulated using Fluent, and the amount of jet flame injection was selected in consideration of the hydrogen tank capacity of commercial hydrogen vehicles for road tunnels. In addition, the study was conducted with the direction of the jet flame and the nozzle distance from the tunnel wall as variables. From the results, when the jet flame erupted in the road tunnel, high radiant heat emission of more than 20 kW/m2 was generated in most areas within ±5 m in the longitudinal direction based on the vehicle (spray nozzle) and 5 to 7 m in the lateral direction based on the adjacent tunnel wall.

A jet cutting system is a new concept of cutting device wihch requires high pressure up to thousands of atmospheric pressure. The use of water as a cutting medium brings in many of working advantages such as no dust, no gas, and no thermal distortion. And an introduction of abrasives into the water jet flow increases signigicantly cutting abilities and improves cutting performance. Cutting with abrasive water jet involves many operating variables, including design of the cutting system. For efficient cutting, the operating parameters have to chosen properly. In spite of several attempts to develop the cutting model theoretically, all of the optimization of the operating parameters is based upon exerimental results of each jet cutting system. In this paper, the effect of the parameters was measured and analysed in terms of pressure, abrasive, and transverse rate of a workpiece. Most of all, sufficient feeding of abrasives is the most important factor for efficient cutting performance.

This study is on the development of 150PS inboard type of compact water jet propulsion system. The water jet is composed of intake, impeller, diffuser, reverse bucket and main shaft. Components of water jet have been manufactured through precision processing after sand casting. Development of water jet propelled engine has been finally completed by processes which are design, production and inspection on each component. The water jet performance characteristics show that 0.29 m3/s of maximum flow rate and 37 m/s of flow velocity have been secured in the ground test pool. Field test was performed by 21ft test ship that water jet propulsion equipment developed in this study was installed. As a result, the weight of hull, engine and other parts of the ship has been almost 1.2 ton and 45 km/h of maximum sailing speed has been recorded with 3700 rpm of engine in the domestic coast test.

When supersonic underexpanded jets are exhausted from the nozzle, complex shock cell configurations such as barrel shock, expansion fan, Mach disc, and exhaust-gas jet boundary are appeared repetitively. The shock cell is smeared by turbulence dissipation and disappeared in long distance from the nozzle. When underexpanded jet is suddenly impinged on a flat plate, it forms very complex flow structure. In this paper, we solve compressible Wavier-Stokes equation adapting finite volume method to obtain jet impingement flow structure and compare calculated data with experimental ones. It is shown that numerical simulation data are in good agreement with experimental one in a short distance between nozzle exit and flat plate and little influence of underexpanded ratio is appeared in jet impingement now distribution.

Effects of injector position and momentum flux ratio on a vertical jet in a cross-flow field are qualitatively studied and displayed using air and water. The position of the injector hole and the momentum flux ratio is changed and image visualization is performed using a shadowgraph technique and a high-speed camera. The visualized images are compared to find differences in spraying using density gradient magnitude image. It is observed that, as the x/d of the apparatus increases, the jet break-up height decreases. When x/d is 0, the spray reaches the bottom and ceiling at any momentum flux ratio.

Several studies of film cooling were accomplished with a secondary flow channel parallel to the main flow. In real turbine blades, however, the direction of the secondary flow channel is generally normal to the main flow. Thus, this study performs a numerical analysis to investigate the effects of the direction of secondary flow on the effectiveness of double-jet film cooling. The blowing ratio is 1 and 2, and the lateral injection angle is $22.5^{\circ}$. The parallel channel case creates a well-developed anti-kidney vortex with a blowing ratio of 1, and the laterally averaged film cooling effectiveness of the parallel channel is enhanced compared to the normal channel. The normal channel shows higher performance with a blowing ratio of 2. Both cases show high film cooling effectiveness. These phenomena can be attributed to a high blowing ratio and flow rate rather than an anti-kidney vortex.

The gas jet from a coaxial porous injector for two-phase flows is discharged radially from the porous surface, which encloses the center liquid jet. Several hot-firing test using ethanol/nitrous oxide propellants was conducted to analyze the effect of oxidizer/fuel ratio on the combustion performance, and the uncertainty analysis was performed for the results. The characteristic velocity was affected by oxidizer/fuel ratio similarly with the results of CEA calculation except that the maximum characteristic velocity was appeared in the stoichiometric ratio. The characteristic velocity efficiency was increased as the oxidizer/fuel ratio increases.

The liquid column trajectory and column breakup length characteristics have been experimentally studied in angled jets injected into subsonic crossflow. Pulsed shadowgraph photography and Planar Liquid Laser Induced Fluorescence measurements were used to determine the angled effects. And the main objectives of this research are to get a empirical formula of liquid column trajectory and breakup length with below the $90^{\circ}$ degree injection angle conditions, and were compared with previous results. It was also found that the empirical formula, which reversed injection conditions of air stream. As the result, This has been shown that liquid column trajectories and column breakup length were spatially dependent on various injection angle, normalized injector exit diameter, air-stream and fuel injection velocity. Furthermore, the empirical formula of liquid column trajectories and breakup length has been some different of drag coefficient results between normal angled injection and reversed injection in subsonic crossflow.

An experimental study was performed to investigate the combustion characteristics of the liquid hydrocarbon fuel atomized by an ultrasonic oscillator. Configuration of the flame was caught by the high-speed camera, and images were analyzed in detail through a post-processing. In addition, the fuel consumption was measured using the balance during the combustion reaction. As a result, the consumption of atomized fuel increased with the increasing flow-rate of carrier-gas, but any correlation between the air/fuel ratio and carrier-gas flow-rate was not found. The variation of flame area was dependent on the fuel consumption and input power of the ultrasonic oscillator. FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analyses using the flame area were conducted in order to discuss flame flickering.

The spray and combustion characteristics of liquid jet in cross flow with variation of injection angle are numerically studied. Numerical analysis was carried out using KIVA code, which may be used to generate numerical solutions to spray and chemical reactive fluid problem in three space dimensions and modified to be suitable for simulating liquid jet ejected into the cross flow. Wave model and Kelvin- Helmholtz(KH) /Rayleigh-Taylor(RT) hybrid model were used for the purpose of analyzing liquid column, ligament, and the breakup of droplet. Penetration length increases as flow velocity decreases and injection velocity increases. Numerical error increases as inflow velocity increases. The results of flame propagation contour in combustion chamber and local temperature distribution, combustion emissions were obtained.
