Characteristics of Dual Transverse Injection in Supersonic Flow Fields I-Mixing Characteristics (초음속 유동장 내 이중 수직분사의 특성에 관한 연구 I-혼합특성)

  • Based on the analyses of the single transverse injection in supersonic flow fields, the mixing characteristics of dual transverse injection of hydrogen in supersonic air flow are studied with computational methods. Three-dimensional Navier -Stokes and the k-$\omega$ SST turbulence model were used. A parametric study is conducted with the variation of the distance between two injectors. The flow patterns and the mixing characteristics of two injection flows are very different from each other, and the flow patterns and the mixing characteristics of the rear injection flow are strongly influenced by those of the first injection flow. The increase of the distance between two injectors up to a specific distance results in the increase of mixing rate and penetration of fuel. However, the increase of the distance over the specific distance results in the decrease of mixing rate and penetration of fuel. From the results it can be stated that there exists a distance between two injectors for optimum mixing characteristics.

  • In the present study, a numerical investigation was conducted to analyze the effect of the distance between the adjacent injectors on the characteristics of flow structure, fuel penetration, and air/fuel mixing. Numerical results were validated with experimental data using a single injection. Subsequently, the same injector geometry and properties were applied on a non-reacting flow simulation with multiple injectors. Total pressure loss, penetration height, and mixing efficiency were compared with the distance between the injectors. The results showed that each injected gas merged into a single stream, resulting in the 2D-like flow fields under the condition of short distance and lower mixing efficiency along with higher total pressure loss. When the distance between the injectors increased, total pressure loss reduced and mixing efficiency increased due to the weakening of interactions between the injected gases.

  • Combustion characteristics of dual transverse injection of hydrogen in supersonic air flows were studied using computational methods. Three-dimensional Navier-Stokes with a non-equilibrium chemical reaction model and the k-$\omega$ SST turbulence model were used. A parametric study was conducted with the variation of the distance between two injectors. Combustion characteristics of dual injection are very different from those of single injection. The combustion characteristics of two injection flows are very different from each other, and the ignition and combustion characteristics of the rear injection flow are strongly influenced by those of the front injection flow. The increase of the distance between two injectors up to a specific distance results in the increase of burning rate. However, the increase of the distance over the specific distance gives no increase of burning rate but makes more losses of stagnation pressure. From the results it can be stated that there exists a distance between two injectors for optimum combustion characteristics.

  • The Process of Pressurized water diffusion is mixing process by pressurized water injection with coagulate and chlorine water in the water treatment system. The objectives of this research were to evaluate the mixing length and diameter of diffusion plate and distance from injection pipe for complete mixing by using computational fluid dynamics. From the results of CFD simulation, when diameter of injection pipe is 50 mm, 100 mm and injection pressure is $5kg/cm^2$ and the diameter of inlet pipe is 2,200 mm, the complete mixing length is 4D (D: Length as diameter of inlet pipe). When diameter of injection pipe is 50 mm, the diameter of the diffusion plate in o.1D and distance from injection pipe is 0.2D, the complete mixing length is 3D that is the most short mixing length. But when diameter of injection pipe is 100 mm and mutually related the diameter, distance of diffusion plate, the complete mixing length is 4D over. Therefore, as the diameter of inlet pipe is 2,200 mm, the injection pipe 50 mm is more efficient than 100 mm.

  • 액체 분무가 벽면의 평평한 면에 충돌할 때의 거동에 대해 실험을 통하여 조사하였다. 각 분사노즐과 벽면까지의 거리 그리고 분사 속도에 있어서 충돌점에서의 액체 액막의 비산 거동과 평면에서의 액막의 흐름에 대하여 관찰하였다. 충돌점에서 비산하는 액적의 비산율을 정량적으로 측정하였다. 분사속도가 증가에 의해 충돌 거동은 5개의 영역으로 분류되며, 분사속도가 증가하면 비산율도 증가하게 된다. 또한, 충돌거리가 분무의 분열점보다 길때의 분사량의 약 반 정도가 비산하게 되는 결과가 얻어졌다.

A Simple Paint Thickness Estimation Model in Shipyard Spray Painting

  • This paper aims to develop a model to estimate the paint thickness in a shipyard spray painting according to changes of spraying distance and speed. We acquired the experimental datasets of five different conditions with respect to the spraying distance and speed using a painting robot. In addition, we applied a preprocessing step to handle noises which might be caused by various reasons such as a nozzle damage. Our method is to transform a thickness function of a specified spraying distance and speed into another function of an unknown spraying and speed. We observed that the proposed method shows more stable and more accurate predictions compared with an artificial neural network-based approach.

  • In order to find the excavating performance of water-jet nozzle on the sand, the authors were carried out the excavating experiment with the model nozzles which were semi circular sectioned nozzles and rectangular nozzle in water tank. The results were as follows. 1) Excavating maximum depth and width on the sand by the water jet were straightly increased in proportion to the velocity of water jet and the section area of nozzle, and that, by the nozzle distance from the excavating point on the sand, the depth was decreased, while the width was increased straightly. 2) Rectangular nozzle which the thick of hole is 1mm, was a little bit better than the circular nozzle of the same sectioned area on the excavating performance. 3) Empirical equations between the velocity of water jet, the distance of nozzle, and the maximum excavating depth and width by angle of nozzle were expressed as linear, they were as follows on the 45$^{\circ}$ angle of the rectangular nozzle(1$\times$12mm); D=0.0093V sub(0)-0.23H+5.7. W=0.0147V sub(0)+1.06H+10.2. where, D is the maximum excavating depth(cm), W is the maximum excavation width(cm), V sub(0) is the velocity of water jet(cm/s); 926$\leq$V sub(0)$\leq$1504, H is the distance(cm) from nozzle tip to water-jetted point on the surface of sand.

Effects of intake flows on spray structure of a high pressure multi-hole injector in a second generation direct-injection gasoline engine (제 2세대 직접분사식 가솔린 기관에서 고압다공연료분사기의 분무 형상에 대한 흡기유동의 영향)

  • 제 2세대 직접분사식 가솔린 기관에서 6공 연료분사기의 연료분무특성을 관찰하였다. 실험에 사용한 직접분사식 가솔린 기관은 2개의 흡입밸브와 2개의 배기밸브를 갖는 텀블형 Spray Guided 연소실과 Quartz로 제작된 실린더 라이너와 실린더 헤드 창으로 구성되어 있다. 선회유동을 유도하기 위하여 흡입매니폴드에 선회유동 제어밸브를 부착하였다. 2차원 Mie 스캐터링 기법을 이용하여 연료분사시기, 연료분사압력과 실린더 내 유동 및 냉각수 온도가 연료분무에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 실험결과로는 흡기과정동안 흡기 선회유동은 분사된 연료의 공간적 분포에 크게 작용하였고, 압축과정동안에는 텀블 및 선회유동의 영향이 흡기과정에 비해 크지 않음을 확인하였다. 또한 성층연소를 위해서 압축과정에서 연료를 분사하는 경우 고압의 연료분사압은 분무도달거리의 성장을 촉진시키나 상승하는 피스톤과 이로 인한 실린더 압력의 상승으로 분무도달거리의 성장이 억제됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구는 직접 연료분사 가솔린 엔진에 장착되는 고압연료 인젝터의 연료공급 특성에 대한 것으로, 두 종류 GDI 인젝터의 분무가시화 실험을 수행하였고, 분무특성을 분석하였다. 가시화 실험을 통하여 인젝터 끝단 분사 초단부근 연료거동을 확인하였고, 인젝터의 특성인 도달거리와 관통력을 확인하였으며, 분위기 압력의 변화에 따른 분무특성을 고려하여 실험을 수행하였다. 두 인젝터 모두 분위기 압력이 증가함에 따라 도달거리와 분사각이 감소하였다. B type의 인젝터 보다 A type의 인젝터가 분위기 압력에 민감한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 분위기 압력의 변화에 따른 분무거동의 변화를 확인 하였으며 직접 분사인젝터의 엔진적용을 위한 기초 분무 데이터를 확보하였다.

20wt% $\textrm{Y}_{2}\textrm{O}_{3}$-$\textrm{ZrO}_{2}$ Powder Spraying by Induction Plasma (유도플라즈마에 의한 20wt% $\textrm{Y}_{2}\textrm{O}_{3}$-$\textrm{ZrO}_{2}$분말의 용융분사)

  • 현재까지 박막코팅 분야에 주로 이용해 오던 플라즈마 용융분사법을 이용하여 고밀도의 두꺼운 세라믹 침적물을 제조하였다. 용융점이 2910K인 ZrO2-20wt%Y2O3분말을 이용하여 최적조건에서 이론밀도의 약 97%의 침적물을 얻었다. 고밀도 침적에 영향을 미치는 변수는 챔버 내부압력, 플라즈마동력, 플라즈마 가스조성, 분사거리, 분말입자 크기 등이었으며, 침적밀도 및 침적된 splat의 형태는 분말의 용융정도 및 챔버 내부압력에 크게 좌우되었다. 높은 밀도으 침적물을 만들기 위해서는 분말을 완전히 용융시키는 것이 중요하며, 완전히 용융된 조건에서는 챔버 내부압력이 낮고 분말분사거리가 짧은 조건 즉, 분사되는 분말이 높은 모멘텀을 가질수록 침적물의 밀도가 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 실험에서 얻어진 결과는 ANOVA 통계방법으로 분석하여 단일변수의 영향뿐만 아니라 이들 변수가 서로 조합하여 밀도에 미치는 영향도 분석하였다.
