Grains of naked barley (Baekdong cultivar) were polished, powdered and subjected to the successive extraction into free and bound liquid fractions. These were further fractionated into lipid classes and quantified by means of thin layer chromatography, column chromatography and gas-liquid chromatography. Contents of free and bound lipids in barley flour were 2.27% and 1.01%, which were decreased to 2.12% and 0.76%, respectively, after purification. Free and bound lipids were consisted of monoglycerides, diglycerides, triglycerides, free sterols, sterol esters, free fatty acids and polar lipids. Major constituents of free lipids were 56.2% triglycerides, 14.9% free fatty acids and 13.4% sterols while those of bound lipids were 73.8% polar lipids, 8.4% free fatty acids and 5.2% triglycerides. The content of non-polar lipids in free lipids was 93.6% as compared with 26.2% in bound lipids. However, phospholipids content in bound lipids was 55.5% as compared with 2.5% in free lipids, and glycolipids content in bound lipids was 19.4% as compared with 3.9% in free lipids. Major fatty acids in the free and bound lipid fractions were linoleic acid 52.1%, 54.8%, palmitic acid 24.8%, 30.0% and oleic acid 15.6%, 8.8%, respectively, showing similar patterns in both fractions. The amount of unsaturated fatty acids in free lipids was 72.8% as compared with 68.0% in bound lipids. In comparing the fatty acid composition of non-polar lipids, glycolipids and phospholipids, no difference was observed between free and bound lipid fractions while a slight difference was found among the lipid constituents.
Influence of increased temperature on the standard metabolism in three species of marine bivalves, Crassostrea gigas, Ruditapes philippinarum and Mytilus edulis, acclimated to seasonal water temperatures and collected from the south coast of Korea, were examined in the laboratory. The standard oxygen consumption and filtration rates in the 3 species were measured respectively at the experimental temperature, 4, 7 and 10$^{\circ}C$ or 3, 6 and 9$^{\circ}C$ higher than the mean seasonal water temperature. When the experimental temperatures were higher than the seasonal water temperature, the rates of C. gigas decreased in autumn and spring, and increased In winter, while there was thermal stress in summer. The rates of R. philippinarum increased in spring when the experimental temperatures were 3$^{\circ}C$ and 6$^{\circ}C$ higher than the seasonal water temperature, but the rates increased in autumn and winter when the experimental temperature was even 9$^{\circ}C$ higher than the seasonal water temperature. In summer. metabolic activities of R. philippinarum decreased significantly at temperature higher than acclimation temperature. The rates of M. edulis increased in spring when the experimental temperatures were 3$^{\circ}C$ higher than the seasonal water temperature but the rates were stressed by the increased temperature above 3$^{\circ}C$. In winter, increased temperature did not affect the metabolic activities of M. edulis. These results suggested that the standard metabolism of the three marine bivalves in summer was stressed by the increased temperature, whereas the metabolism was activated in winter.

Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the present conditions of illumination techniques in dental laboratories in order to distinguish colors for esthetic dentistry. Materials and Methods: A total of forty-eight local dental laboratories were selected for sampling a) luminous intensity and b) color temperature. We measured the luminous intensity and the color temperature on a center point of porcelain table with lux meter and color meter respectively. The measurements were performed twice, once on a clear day and on a cloudy day between 12 pm and 2 pm (day light and artificial illumination) and between 7 pm and 10 pm (artificial illumination only). Results: The results obtained were as follows. 1. The average luminous intensity in dental laboratories lighting was 1871 lx, and 67% of dental laboratories had luminous intensity greater than 1600 lx, which was appropriate for operations related to colors, while 33% of dental laboratories had in sufficient lighting for appropriate luminous intensity. 2. The average color temperature in dental laboratories lighting was 6506 K, which was inappropriate for operations related to color. None of the dental laboratories had a color temperature range of 5000 - 5500 K, which is appropriate for operations related to colors. 3. Between daytime and nighttime, also between clear day and cloudy day, the average luminous intensity and color temperature in dental laboratories were not significantly different. Conclusion: Illumination in most dental laboratories selected in this study was inappropriate for operations related to color.
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is an effective tool for detecting shallow subsurface targets. In many GPR applications, these targets are veiled by the strong waves reflected from the ground surface, so that we need to apply a signal processing technique to separate the target signal from such strong signals. A pulse-compression technique is used in this research to compress the signal width so that it can be separated out from the strong contaminated clutter signals. This work introduces a filter algorithm to carry out pulse compression for GPR data, using a Wiener filtering technique. The filter is applied to synthetic and field GPR data acquired over a buried pipe. The discrimination method uses both the reflected signal from the target and the strong ground surface reflection as a reference signal for pulse compression. For a pulse-compression filter, reference signal selection is an important issue, because as the signal width is compressed the noise level will blow up, especially if the signal-to-noise ratio of the reference signal is low. Analysis of the results obtained from simulated and field GPR data indicates a significant improvement in the GPR image, good discrimination between the target reflection and the ground surface reflection, and better performance with reliable separation between them. However, at the same time the noise level slightly increases in field data, due to the wide bandwidth of the reference signal, which includes the higher-frequency components of noise. Using the ground-surface reflection as a reference signal we found that the pulse width could be compressed and the subsurface target reflection could be enhanced.
In this paper, we propose the α-Feature Map Scaling (α-FMS) method which extends the FMS method that was designed to enhance the discriminative power of feature maps of deep neural networks in Speaker Verification (SV) systems. The FMS derives a scale vector from a feature map and then adds or multiplies them to the features, or sequentially apply both operations. However, the FMS method not only uses an identical scale vector for both addition and multiplication, but also has a limitation that it can only add a value between zero and one in case of addition. In this study, to overcome these limitations, we propose α-FMS to add a trainable parameter α to the feature map element-wise, and then multiply a scale vector. We compare the performance of the two methods: the one where α is a scalar, and the other where it is a vector. Both α-FMS methods are applied after each residual block of the deep neural network. The proposed system using the α-FMS methods are trained using the RawNet2 and tested using the VoxCeleb1 evaluation set. The result demonstrates an equal error rate of 2.47 % and 2.31 % for the two α-FMS methods respectively.
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of Capsosiphon fulvescens extract (CFE) on levels of essential amino acids in serum and the rate of protein digestion. CFE contains approximately 68% carbohydrate as fiber, 17% crude ash, and 14% crude protein. Experimental rats were divided two groups, one group receiving a normal diet and the other a normal diet containing 5% CFE. To analyze the absorption of essential amino acids into the hepatic portal vein, blood from the hepatic portal vein was collected between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for 10 days. In vitro protein digestion was decreased in the group fed 5% CFE; these data indicated that CFE affected protease activity. We measured the absorption of essential amino acids in the serum of the hepatic portal vein, at 30-, 60-, 90-, and 120 minutes after feeding. Although there was no difference in the concentration of total essential amino acids between the two groups, the 5% CFE-fed animals had a decreased rate of absorption. Absorption of Lys and Thr into the hepatic portal vein was lower in the CFE-fed group than in the control group. The rate of absorption of Met was delayed nearly 50% in the CFE-fed group compared to the control group. On the other hand, the rate of absorption of Leu, Ile, and Val was increased; Phe showed the same. Therefore, we suggest that CFE could affect protein metabolism by increasing or decreasing the absorption rate of essential amino acids.

Cadastre is a set of activity registering diverse land information in national scope land management works. A nation examine land information and register it in a cadastral book, and must update data when necessary to properly maintain the information. Currently, local governments execute work about parcels of land alternation by manual work based on KLIS road map. Therefore, it takes too much time-consuming and makes problem as missing lots of parcels of land alternation. This study suggests the method selecting the parcels of land alteration for Jinan-Gun of Jeollabuk-Do using the GIS spatial overlay and the following results are as belows. Firstly, the manual work on the parcels of land alteration was greatly improved through automatically extracting the number and area of parcels according to the land classification and ownership by GIS spatial overlay based on serial cadastral maps and KLIS road lines. Secondly, existing work based on KLIS road lines could be advanced by analyzing the parcels of land alternation using the actual-width of the road from new address system to consider all road area for study site. Lastly, this study can supply efficient information in determining the parcels of land alternation consistant with road condition of local governments by analyzing the number and area of parcels according to the land classification and ownership within various roadsides ranging from 3m, 5m, and 10m by GIS buffering method.
Graft cultivation of Paeonia and Moutan was attempted to improve the harvest yields of medicinal parts of the plants. When Paeonia root was grafted with Moutan stem, the harvest yields of underground roots showed 35% increase, with Paeonia radix and Moutan cortex ratio of 3 : 1 paeoniflorin and paeonol contents among grafted Paeonia radix (11.71 and 0.35 mg/g, respectively), Paeonia radix (9.91 and 0.80 mg/g, respectively), and Moutan cortex (10.81 and 2.84 mg/g, respectively) were not significantly different. Paeonia radix grafted with Moutan stem was cultivated to investigate the ecological properties and to compare index components, including minerals, fatty acids, and organic acids. The contents of 10 major minerals among the samples were very similar, whereas those of Fe were different, showing 86.06, 127.36, 75.05, and 140.63 mg/g for (Paeonia radix, Paeonia radix grafted, Moutan cortex, and Moutan cortex grafted) contents and GC profiles of 11 fatty acids including linoleic, palmitic, linolenic, and oleic acids and those of 6 organic acids including oxalic, citric, and malic acids were very similar. Results of sensory evaluations were very similar between Paeonia radix and Paeonia radix grafted or Moutan cortex and Moutan cortex grafted showed astringent taste, and stronger sensory intensity of Paeonia radix than Paeonia radix grafted showed bitter taste, and stronger sensory intensity of Moutan cortex than Moutan cortex grafted.
We empolyed gel filtraction, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, amino acid autoanalyzer, thin layer chromatography for determining protein and lipid composition in walnut. The walnut contained 22.18% of crude protein and 64.23% of crude lipid. Glutamic acid (38.60%) was the major amino acid in soluble protein, followed by arginine and aspartic acid. The sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis analysis showed 12 band in soluble protein of walnut, and collection rate of main protein fraction purified by Sephadex G-150 was 60.67%. The molecular weight for the main protein was estimated to be 43,000. The lipid fraction obtained by silicic acid column chromatography were mainly composed of about 93.05% neutral lipid, whereas compound lipid was only 7.0% level. Among the neutral lipid by thin layer chromatography, triglyceride was 82.05%, sterol ester and free fatty acid were 3.86% and 4.80%, repectively. The predominant fatty acids of total and neutral lipids were linoleic acid $(64.48{\sim}69.98%)$ and oleic acid $(13.89{\sim}15.36%)$. The major fatty acids of triglyceride separated from neutral lipid were linolenic acid (69.98%).
Primary fluorescence characteristics of ten standard solutions of organophosphates, sea water, and water from agricultural land were investigated by fluorescence contour. All the standard solutions of organophosphates has shown characteristics countours. Their emission maxima were shown between 296 nm and 437 nm. According to their numbers of emission maxima on the fluorescence contours, the organophosphates can be categorized in two different groups. Ateric and Diazinon are the first group with two emission maxima. DDVP with other seven standard organophosphates belong to the second group. The second group has two subgroups. One is characterized by the similar emission and excitation maxima, which are 310 nm and 280 nm, respectively. Those are DDVP, Hinosan, Kitazin, Locsion, Meta. The other sub-group shows quite different emission and excitation maxima from the first sub-group. They are Monopho, Thaconyl and Gropho and their emisson maxima were in far longer (437 nm) or shorter wavelength (296 nm). From agricutural samples, one of the investigated organophosphates was detetected by its characteristic retention time $(t_r=12min)$. HPIC-fluorescence data gave an additional parameter for differentiation between two organophosphates which has similar excitation and emission maxima.
