  • The Andong pluton in the Andong Batholith is composed of comagmatic plutonic rocks, in which the lithofacies comprise hornblende biotite tonalite in the central paft biotite granodiorite in the marginal paft and porphyritic biotite granite at the topside (noJthea~tern paft) of the pluton. The pluton is petrographically and petrochemically zoned, having more mafic center than margin and topside. Distribution pallern of the lithofacies represents a reverse zoning in the pluton. Modal and chemical data in the pluton show progressive and gradual compositional variations from the centrer via the margin to the topside. Quartz and K-teldspar increase toward the topside of the pluton, whereas hornblende, biotite and color index increase toward the center. The bulk composition in the pluton is also reversely zoned, with high $Si0_2$ and $K_{2}O$ in the topside facies, and high MnO, CaO, $Ti0_2$, $Fe_{2}O_{3}$t, MgO and $P_{2}O_{5}$ in the central facies. The reverse zoning is also evident in higher Cr. V, Ni, Sc and Sr of the more mafic tonalite in the interior. The reversely zoned pluton results from remobilization (resurgence) of the lower more mafic compositional zone into the upper more felsic zones of the pluton modified by thennogravitational diffusion and fractional crystallization. In the initial stages of evolution, the pluton was a petrochemical system that fonned chemical compositional zonation with mafic tonalitic magma in the lower. granodioritic one in the middle and granitic one in the upper paft of the magma chamber. Periodic influxes of more mafic magma from the ba~e resulted in mingling of liquids and redistribution of minerals, and may have triggered the remobilil.ation of the lower compositional zone into the upper more felsic zones.

  • Physicochemical properties of starch vermicelli (Dangmyun) made with different starches in laboratory were determined to develop a modified corn starch comparable to sweet potato starch which is highly expensive than corn starch but commonly used for starch vermicelli in Korea. Initial temperatures (Ti) of gelatinization of starch vermicelli made in laboratory measured by differential scanning calorimeter, which were above $60^{\circ}C$, were higher than those of starch vermicelli in the market. Their X-ray diffraction peaks were relatively sharp compared with those of starch vermicelli in the market, which showed that starches were not completely gelatinized during the process of starch vermicelli preparation in laboratory. Initial temperature (Ti) of corn starch vermicelli was decreased by $3^{\circ}C$ by hydroxypropylation but increased by $2.5^{\circ}C$ by oxidation. Hardness and compression slope of sweet potato starch vermicelli and mungbean starch vermicelli, which were $11,726{\sim}12,555\;g/cm^2$ and $29,914{\sim}30,604\;g/cm^2$, respectively, were the highest in the samples and those of waxy corn starch were lowest. Hardness and compression slope of starch vermicelli made with corn starch slightly oxidized in the concentration of 0.5% NaOCl at pH 9.0, $40^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. increased and found to be comparable to those of sweet potato starch vermicelli.

  • This article deal with petrotectonic setting and petrogenesis from petrography and chemical analyses of the Cretaceous volcanic and intrusive rocks in the Cheolwon basin. The volcanic rocks are composed of basalts in Gungpyeong Formation, Geumhaksan Andesite, and rhyolitic rocks (Dongmakgol Tuff, Rhyolite and Jijangbong Tuff), and intrusive rocks, Bojangsan Andesite, granite porphyry and dikes. According to petrochemistry, these rocks represent medium-K to high-K basalt, andesite and rhyolite series that belong to calc-alkaline series, and generally show linear compositional variations of major and trace elements with increase in $SiO_2$ contents, on many Harker diagrams. The incompatible and rare earth elements are characterized by high enrichments than MORB, and gradually high LREE/HREE fractionation and sharp Eu negative anomaly with late strata, on spider diagram and REE pattern. Some trace elements exhibit a continental arc of various volcanic arcs or orogenic suites among destructive plate margins on tectonic discriminant diagrams. These petrochemical data suggest that the basalts may have originated from basaltic calc-alkaline magma of continental arc that produced from a partial melt of upper mantle by supplying some aqueous fluids from a oceanic crust slab under the subduction environment. The andesites and rhyolites may have been evolved from the basaltic magma with fractional crystallization with contamination of some crustal materials. Each volcanic rock may have been respectively erupted from the chamber that differentiated magmas rose sequentially into shallower levels equivalenced at their densities.

  • The granitoids in the Mt. Geumjeong, Busan can be divided into granodiorite, hornblende granite, adamellite, tonalite, biotite granite and micrographic granite. The geochemical characteristics of the Mt. Geumjeong granites indicate that they were crystallized from a calc-alkaline series and that they belong to Ⅰ-type granitic rocks which evolved from granodioritic magma into hornblende granite, adamellite, biotitie granite, and finally micrographic granite through fractional crystallization of plagioclase. The crystallization pressures and temperatures of the minimum melt compositions of the granitic rocks were estimated to about 1∼5 kbar and 720∼700℃. The trace element composition and REE patterns, characterized by a high LILE/HFSE ratio and enrichments in LREE, indicate typical continental margin arc calc-alkaline rocks produced in the subduction environment. The Rb-Sr isotopic data for the Mt. Geumjeong granites define a well-defined isochron yielding as age of 69.6±1.9 Ma with an initial Sr isotopic ratio of 0.70503.

  • Bound lipids(BL) of naked barley(Hordeum vulgare L.) were extracted by different methods and the composition of BL was determined by the procedures of column chromatography, thin layer chromatography and gas chromatography. For the extraction, after free lipids were removed from barley flour by petroleum ether(PE) extraction and then BL were extracted from PE treated flour by the solvent systems of water-saturated butanol(WSB) at $25^{\circ}C$(WSB-LT) and at $95^{\circ}C$ (WSB-HT). BL were extracted by WSB-HT with higher extraction yield as 1.5% as dry basis of flour. The contents of neutral lipids(NL), glycolipids(GL) and phospholipid(PL) in BL were $20.7{\sim}35.5%$, $28.7{\sim}32.4%$, $32.1{\sim}50.6%$, respectively with particularly higher content of PL in WSB-HT as 50.6%. Digalactosyl-diglycerides $(40.2{\sim}44.8%)$, monogalactosyl-diglycerides $(20.3{\sim}31.1%)$, sterly glycerides$(11.2{\sim}15.2%)$ and cereb rosides$(11.6{\sim}12.9%)$ were observed in GL. Of the PL in BL, lysophosphatidyl choline, phosphatidyl choline and phosphatidyl serine, and phosphatidyl ethanolamine were the major components. The predominent fatty acids of NL, GL and PL were linoleic and palmitic acids, however, no significant difference was observed in the composition of fatty acids between two extraction methods.

  • Andesitic pyroclastics and lava flows are deposited as a part of composite volcanoes by Cretaceous volcanic activity in Geojae Island, off the coast of Korea. The andesitic pyroclastics are composed of tuff breccia and lapilli tuff minor intercalated tuff. Lava flows are divided into dense and porphyritic andesite containing phenocrysts of plagioclase, pyroxene, and/or hornblende. The andesitic rocks represent charactersitcs of carc-alkaline BAR association with basalt, basaltic andesite, andesite, and dacite to rhyolite. Major element variations of the volcanic rocks show that $Al_2O_3$, total FeO, CaO, MgO and $TiO_2$ decrease with increasing $SiO_2$ but $K_2O$ and total alkalis increase, and represent differntiation trend of calc-alkaline rock series. In spider diagram, contents of Sr, K, Rb, Ba, and Th are relatively high, but contents of Nb, P, Ti and Cr are low. These petrochemcial characteristics are similar to those of rocks from island arc or continental margein related to plate subduction. Chondrite-normalized REE patterns of volcanic rocks are paralle to subparallel, with LREE enriched than HREE, and show gradual increase of negative Eu anomaly from basalt to dacite and rhyolite, suggesting comagmatic fractional crystallization with minor effects of assimilation and magma mixing. Andesitic rocks are assumed medium-K orogenic andesites that formed in the tectomagmatic environment of subduction zone under normal continental margin arc.

  • This study was conducted to derive the new manager model in service economy era. It was logically explained that the modern economic society is different from the existing economic society, the modern organization that is the subject of management is different from the existing organization, and the tasks required by management are different from the existing tasks. It suggested the managerial model required for new managers. According to the proposed manager's model, the tasks required of new managers and essential qualities as managers to perform the tasks were presented. It suggested the role model that managers with required qualities should play. The role of a manager who becomes one with customers, the role of a manager who controls even his irrationality, the role of a manager who combines discernment and indiscriminateness, a flexible leadership role that combines charisma and tenderness, an administrator role that embraces regulations and non-regulations, and vision and non-vision. We derived the role of a manager who manages management, and a manager role model that utilizes both competition and non-competition. The managers engage in two opposing roles and perform management activities in a spiral dialectical cycle that develops while resolving the contradictions of each role. The method of embracing the two opposing parties internally and externally and the dialectical management execution process according to the change of the space-time axis were presented by borrowing the models of The Book of Change. Future research needs an empirical analytical study on this new Model. There is a need for studies that expand this study and develop it into a practical model and verify it in an analytical way.

  • We assessed the species composition and structure of the three representative forest stands(Pinus densiflora stand, Quercus variabilis stand, and Ouercus mongolica stand), dominated in the National Long-Term Ecological Research Sites of Mt. Worak, Korea and established a benchmark series of permanent plots and transects with which future changes in forest composition and structure could be monitored. Species richness of Q. mongolica stand was greater than other two stands, due in large part to the greater habitat heterogeneity. Number of trees and species are decreased with increasing DBH classes. The successional trends of the three study stands would be mostly changed as Q. mongolica forest, regardless of forest types. Mean density ratio between alive trees and dead trees of three forest stands appeared with Q. mongolica stand 75:25, Q. variabilis stand 94:6, and P. densiflora stand 86:14, Q. mongolica stand appeared most highly from in three stands. This may be due to interspecific or intraspecific competition that it follows in various successesional stages. One side, when it saw the tree status which shows the tree health, the three forest stands all standing alive type (AS) appeared most highly with 75% to 85% and fallen dead type (DF) did not appear entirely. Remeasurement of permanent plots at periodic intervals will provide useful information on the dynamics of the forest vegetation that can be used in the development of adaptive conservation plans.
