Spray characteristics of swirl injector using liquid film thickness measurement (액막두께 측정방법을 이용한 스월 인젝터의 분무특성 연구)

  • By using liquid film thickness measurement the spray characteristics of swirl injector according to the geometric parameters were investigated in this paper. A specially designed injector having a variable backhole length, swirl chamber length, orifice length was used to measure the liquid film thickness. The spray characteristics of the injector were represented by mass flow rate according to the injection pressure, liquid film thickness in the lower orifice, spray cone angle.

  • A carbon nanotube (CNT) is a cylindrical carbon nanostructure with good transport properties along the tube's axis. As an approach for realizing the practical use of CNTs, CNT networks are fabricated and their applications in many fields are investigated. To fabricate thin CNT-based films, several methods have been proposed and used. Among these methods, the spray coating method is a robust method for fabricating a large area. However, it is difficult to achieve uniformity in the CNT network. To solve this problem, it is necessary to understand the effect of the sprayprocess parameters on the deposition thickness distribution. In this study, a numerical model for predicting the deposition thickness distribution during the spray process was developed. The spatial deposition thickness distributions obtained according to various nozzle paths were analyzed using the developed numerical model.

  • This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of a co-axial swirl injector. Especially to predict the initial liquid sheet thickness and spray cone angle of an outer orifice a concept of effective area was introduced from hydraulic analysis. In addition, the parameters determining the characteristics of a co-axial swirl injector were re-defined around outer orifice. The calculated results-SMD, spray cone angle, and spray thickness agreed well with the test results qualitatively.

  • We studied the spray characteristics of the high-speed rotating fuel injection system. The diameter of in-line injection orifices are varied from 1mm to 5mm and the number of in-line injection orifices are varied from 3 to 12. Droplet size, velocity and spray distribution were measured by the PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system and spray was visualized. From the test results, the liquid column generated from the injection orifice is mainly controlled by the rotational speeds. Also diameter of injection orifices and number of injection orifices have influence on the diameters of droplet. Consequently, we find out that the basic mechanism of controlling the droplet size is the liquid film thickness in the injection orifice.

진공 전기 분무를 이용하여 ITO 위에 만든 P3HT와 PCBM 사이의 계면에 대한 분석

  • 최근 유기물을 사용한 유기 태양 전지의 주된 제작 방식은 유기물질을 유기용매에 녹여 사용 하는 스핀코팅 방식이다. 스핀코팅은 박막 형성이 쉽고 대량생산이 용이하다는 장점이 있지만, 표면분석의 측면에서 보면 박막이 한번에 형성되기 때문에 전극 위에 유기물질이 박막을 형성하는 순간의 계면을 측정하기 어렵다. 그에 반해 진공전기분무 방식은 진공에서 얇은 박막에서부터 점차적으로 두께를 늘려가며 증착 할 수 있고 또한 증착이 진공에서 이루어져서 불순물을 최소화 할 수 있기 때문에 표면분석의 측면에서 용이하다. 특히 본 실험에서는 유기 태양전지에서 벌크 이질접합(bulk heterojunction)을 만드는데 널리 쓰이는 물질인 Poly(3-hexythiophene) (P3HT)과 (PCBM)을 toluene에 녹인 후(0.2 mg/ml), 4-5 kV 사이의 전압을 인가하여, 고전압을 걸어 준 뒤 $5{\times}10^{-6}$ torr의 조건에서 분무하여 Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) 위에 박막의 두께를 늘려가며 증착시켰다. 이렇게 ITO 위에 만들어진 P3HT와 PCBM의 박막을 Photoemission spectroscopic (PES)을 이용하여 따른 화학적 구조와 전자구조를 분석하였고, 또한 동일한 농도의 용액으로 스핀코팅 방법을 이용하여 만든 시료와 앞서 언급한 조건의 진공전기분무 방법을 이용하여 만든 시료 사이의 표면거칠기와 morphology는 Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM)을 이용하여 비교 분석하였다.

Measurement and Analysis of Liquid Film Thickness of Pressure-Swirl Spray for Direct-Injection Gasoline-Engines (직접분사식 가솔린엔진용 고압 스월분무의 액막두께 측정 및 해석)

  • The liquid film thickness inside a pressure-swirl nozzle was measured, and then the measured liquid film thickness was compared with the results from previous empirical equations. The liquid film inside the nozzle was visualized using extended transparent nozzles and a microscopic imaging system, and then the measurement error was evaluated using optical geometry analysis. The high injection pressures up to 7MPa were adopted to simulate the injection conditions of the direct-injection spark-ignition engines. The totally different two injectors with different fuels, nozzle lengths, nozzle diameters and swirlers were utilized to obtain the comprehensive equations. The results showed that the liquid film thickness very slightly decreased at high injection pressures and the empirical equations overestimated the effect of injection pressure. Most of empirical equations did not include the effect of nozzle length and swirler angle, although it caused significant change in liquid film thickness. A new empirical equation was suggested based on the experimental results with the effects of fuel properties, injection pressure, nozzle diameter, nozzle length and swirler angle.

  • Half Cell Potential (HPC) technique has been widely adopted for its quantitative evaluation of corrosion possibility. In this study, RC specimens with three different cover depths (10mm, 30mm, and 60mm) and w/c ratios (0.35, 0.55, and 0.70) are prepared and accelerated salt spray test (SST) is performed for 45 days. Steel corrosion occurs in the specimens with 0.55 of w/c and 10mm of cover depth. In the case of 0.70 of w/c and 30mm of cover depth, steel corrosion is also monitored. Considering the effect of cover depth and w/c ratio, HCP evaluation equation is proposed and the condition which can control steel corrosion is obtained. Furthermore, anti-corrosive conditions containing w/c ratio and cover depth are analyzed through Life 365 program and the conditions are compared with the results from this study.

  • The spray characteristics of Gas-Centered Swirl Coaxial Injector was investigated that there were different characteristics with or without gas flow. As gas flow was accelerated, the momentum of gas was transferred to the momentum of liquid in the low liquid Reynolds number. Therefore, the axial velocity of liquid was increased and the measured value was smaller than without gas flow. However, in the high momentum flux ratio, the momentum transfer hardly occurred and the results had constant values. As the recess length was increased, the mixing area of gas and liquid also was increased, the results were decreased.

  • A diesel engine is one of the major prime movers to its high thermal efficiency. But due to the recent attention far the environmental pollution, the emissions of diesel engine became to a important problem. So it is needed to understand the characteristics of diesel spray injected into a combustion chamber. The factor which controls the diesel spray are the injection pressure, the nozzle diameter, the impinging angle and the variation of pressure and temperature. In this paper, experiments were conducted far the variation of the environmental temperature(273k, 373k, 573k), free spray and impinging spray. And the notions of penetration, spray angle, axial distance for free spray, and axial distance, spray thickness from impinging wall fur impinging spray.

  • Diesel engine which has high thermal efficiency is one of the major movers. Recently, as people pay attention to the environmental pollution, the emission of Diesel engine becomes an important problem. So it is needed to understand the characteristics of diesel fuel spray injected into a combustion chamber to reduce the emission. The factors which control the diesel fuel spray are the injection pressure, the nozzle diameter, the impinging angle and the variation of an ambient pressure and temperature. In this paper, the experiments were conducted in the free spray and the impinging spray with various ambient temperatures(273K, 373K, 573K). And the behaviors of the diesel fuel spray, such as penetration, spray angle and axial distance in the free spray and axial distance and spray thickness in the impinging spray were studied.
