Application of FTIR on the Study of Spectroscopic Characteristics on Emerald from Itabira, Brazile (FTIR을 이용한 브라질 Itabira 지역 에메랄드의 분광학적 특성 연구)

  • Emerald deposit located on Itabira, Brazil is one of the major one in the world. We applied three different analytical approaches on Itabira emerald samples, (1) perpendicular to the c-axis, (2) parallel to the c-axis, (3) emerald pallet mixed with KBr, using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, to understand and compare spectroscopic characteristics of three Itabira emerald samples. Occurrence of $5,271\;cm^{-l}$ and $1,638\;cm^{-l}$ absorption peaks within $H_2O$-related range indicates that the samples belong to Type-II emerald. These emerald samples also display strong absorption peak generated from Type-IIa emerald preserving $H_2O-Na-H_2O$ sequence. $CO_2$- and Cl-related absorption peaks observed within specific range except for $H_2O$-related range. These observations and results suggest that FTIR analysis can be used for not on1y classification of emerald types, but also prediction of $Na_2O$ content within the emerald through comparison of relative peak intensity.

  • 고압 방전 아아크의 물리적 특성을 예측하기 위해서는 고압 방전 아아크의 특성을 근거로 한 타당성있는 모델이 고안되어야 한다. 광 에너지 분포의 계산방법을 상당히 개선하여 고압 방전 아아크의 분광학적 특성을 상세히 나타낼 수 있는 시불변 아아크 모델을 제시하였다. 그리고 계산 결과, 이 모델은 고압 방전 아아크의 물리적 특성을 비교적 잘 나타낸다는 사실을 알았고 아아크의 축 중심부의 온도가 높아질수록 나트륨의 공진선인 D 선보다 비공진선들의 방사 에너지가 많아지는 사실을 알 수가 있었다. 그러므로 축 중심부의 온도가 높아질수록 광원의 연색성이 개선된다는 사실을 예측할 수가 있었다.

  • M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectra of ferrimagnetic $Fe_2SE_8$ prepared with $^{57}Fe$ enriched iron have been taken at 298 K and below 78K, and Fe\ulcornerSe\ulcorner has been studied by X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure is found to be a "3c" hexagonal superstructure of the NiAs structure. Three sets of six-line hyperfine patterns were obtained and assigned to three magnetically nonequivalent sites of a superstructure of the crystal. The iron ions at all three sites are found to be in a highly covalent ferrous state. It is shown that the results obtained at the low temperature region are well consistent with Okazaki's "3c" superstructure model.uperstructure model.

  • The spectroscopic characteristics of Madagascar tourmaline were investigated by UV-Vis and FTIR spectroscopy. Physical features were similar to other region's tourmalines. The green and blue samples showed strong absorption band in the 714~743 nm due to $Fe^{3+}$, pink samples showed strong absorption band in the 510~530 nm due to $Mn^{3+}$, brown samples showed strong absorption at 324 nm due to $Mn^{2+}-Ti^{4+}$ IVCT and the colorless samples only revealed weak absorption at 406~413 nm or no absorptions due to low quantity of Mn. Combination of the stretching and bending mode cationic hydroxyl units (metal-OH) are observed in the 4300~4500 $cm^{-1}$. The parallel tube-shaped inclusions which contain hematite were detected generally. This investigation revealed that Cu was not detected but Fe and Mn were detected in the Madagascar tourmalines, and the various colors appear according to the amount of those impurity elements.

Mineral Composition, Depositional Environment and Spectral Characteristics of Oil Shale Occurring in Dundgobi, Mongolia (몽골 돈디고비지역에서 산출되는 오일셰일의 광물조성, 퇴적환경 및 분광학적 특성)

  • This study investigated genetic, mineralogical and spectral characteristics of oil shale and coal samples in Dundgobi area, Mongolia. Based the Rock/Eval and Total organic carbon (TOC) analysis, kerogen type, hydrogen quantity, thermal maturity and depositional environment were confirmed. Moreover, the mineral composition of oil shale and coal samples were analyzed by XRD and spectroscopy. The result of Rock Eval/TOC analysis revealed that the samples of Eedemt deposit are immature to mature source rocks with sufficient hydrocarbon potential, and the kerogen types were classified as Type I, Type II and Type III kerogen. On the other hand, the samples from Shine Us Khudag deposit were mature with good to very good hydrocarbon potential rocks where kengen types are defined as Type I, Type II/III and Type III kerogen. According to the carbon and sulfur contents, the depositional environment of the both sites were defined as a freshwater depositional environment. The XRD analysis revealed that the mineral composition of oil shale and coal samples were quartz, calcite, dolomite, illite, kaolinite, montmorillonite, anorthoclase, albite, microcline, orthoclase and analcime. The absorption features of oil shale samples were at 1412 nm and 1907 nm by clay minerals and water, 2206 nm by clay minerals of kaolinite and montmorillonite and 2306 nm by dolomite. It is considered that spectral characteristics on organic matter content test must be tested for oil shale exploration using remote sensing techniques.

Spectroscopic analysis of near colorless/pink/blue synthetic diamonds from Lightbox ('라이트박스' 무색/핑크/블루 합성 다이아몬드의 분광학적 분석)

  • This article reports the result on the spectroscopic analysis of the three Lightbox CVD-grown diamonds. Lightbox Jewelry, a De Beers company, has begun selling CVD laboratory-grown diamonds since September 2018. Recently, we had the opportunity to examine three Lightbox's pendant necklaces. The 0.25 ct, 0.25 ct, and 0.26 ct round brilliant were graded as "H" near colorless, Fancy Vivid orangy pink, and Fancy Vivid blue with cut grades of excellent, respectively. The laser-inscribed Lightbox logo under the table, large enough to be easily visible with a microscope. Based on the spectroscopic techniques, for near colorless sample was not subjected to post-growth HPHT processing to improve its color. For pink sample, optical centers at H3, 3H, 594 nm, NV, and GR1 were recorded. It was speculated that the pink sample have been received irradiation and annealing. In addition, the blue CVD synthetic sample was concluded to be irradiated without annealing.

  • 식생의 생물계절학적 특성은 지표면과 대기의 에너지와 물 순환에 큰 영향을 미친다. 일반적으로 상층군락과 하층군락의 식생은 미기후의 차이 등에 의해 서로 다른 생물계절학적 특성을 가진다. 이러한 식생의 생물계절학적 특성은 반사도 관측을 통해 추정할 수 있다. 과거부터 원격탐사 기법을 활용하여 식생의 생물계절학적 특성을 추정하는 많은 연구가 수행되어 왔다. 그러나 대부분의 연구는 상층군락과 하층군락의 반사특성을 구분하지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 상층군락과 하층군락 식생의 생물계절학적 특성을 구분하여 탐지하기 위해 red, green, blue 그리고 near-infrared 의 네 가지 파장대를 가진 LED 센서를 이용하였다. LED 센서는 광릉 시험림 내의 활엽수림과 침엽수림 관측지에 서로 다른 네 군데의 높이에 설치되어 각 파장대의 반사도를 산출하였다. 또한 반사도를 이용하여 세 가지 식생지수(NDVI, EVI, Greenness index)를 산출하여 상층식생과 하층식생의 개엽기를 추정하였다.

  • 레이저로 발생시킨 플라즈마의 시간적, 공간적인 분광학적인 특성을 조사하였다. 진공분위기(약1x$10^1$에서 1x$10^{-5}$ Torr) 및 Argon분위기(약 1x$10^{0}$에서 1x$10^{-3}$ Torr)에서 INVAR 시편에 대해 detector의 gate 지연시간을 조정하여 시간적인 플라즈마의 분광선 세기를 측정하였다. 또한 레이저광의 조사방향과 수직되게 놓여 있는 시편에 대해 그림 1과 같이 시편 표면 위로부터 약 0, 2, 4, 6 mm 떨어진 위치에서 플라즈마의 분광선 세기를 관찰하였다. (중략)

A Study on the Ferromagnetic Resonance of FeNb Thin Films (FeNb 박막의 강자성 공명 연구)

  • In order to understand the temperature dependence of magnetic properties of $F_{84}Nb_{16}$(wt.%) thin films, ferromagnetic resonance experiments have been carried out. The ferromagnetic resonance spectra for all temperatures consist of several volume modes and one (or two) surface modes. It is suggested that both surface of the film have a perpendicular hard axis to the film plane (negative surface magnetic anisotropy). Saturation magnetization coincides with the Block's T$\^$2/3/ and spectroscopic splitting factor is almost constant in the temperature range from 113 K to 293 K. The surface magnetic anisotropy constant K$\_$s2/ of the film-substrate interface increased with decreasing temperature in the temperature range from 233 K to 293 K. The surface magnetic anisotropy constant K$\_$s1/ of the air-substrate interface decreased from -0.322 erg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to -0.394 erg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ as the temperature decreased to 253 K and was almost constant below 233 K.233 K.
