Physical Layer Security Method with CAN Bus Node ID Auto-Setting (CAN 버스에서 노드 ID 자동 설정을 통한 물리 계층 보안 기법)

  • When a node in automotive CAN bus is hacked, such node should be blocked to prevent severe danger in the car. In order to do that, such node should be uniquely identified. However, there is no way to identify individual nodes in a CAN bus. In this paper, a physical layer security method is proposed where individual nodes are identified by assigning unique ID to the nodes during booting process. The proposed method was implemented in a CAN controller using Verilog HDL, and it is verified that the node ID auto-setting and internal attack defense are successfully performed.

  • 지능형 로봇의 사용자 품질을 결정하는 주요 요소들 중 하나는 짧은 부트 시간이다. 로봇 시스템에서는 부팅 과정 중에 침입자인지, 자택 순찰, 개인 비서, 엔터테인먼트와 같은 다수의 응용들이 동시에 초기화되는데, 고품질의 사용자 경험을 제공하기 위해서는 사용자 응답성이 중요한 응용들이 우선적으로 초기화되어야한다. 이를 위해 리눅스 기반 로봇 시스템에서 부트 시간을 단축하기 위한 다양한 연구들이 진행되어 왔다. 하지만 이들은 단일 응용 각각에 대한 초기화 시간을 단축하는 연구들이며, 응용들 간에 CPU, 메모리, I/O와 같은 자원 경쟁에 의한 지연 요소를 고려하지 않고 있다. 본 논문에서는 응용들 간의 각종 자원경쟁들을 고려하여 사용자 응답성이 중요한 응용을 우선적으로 초기화하기 위한 외부 컨텍스트 기반 선별적 자원 사용률 조정기법을 제안한다. 이를 리눅스 기반 시스템 상에 구현하여 검증한 결과 응용의 부트 시간이 기존 대비 33.02% 단축됨을 확인했다.

  • 현재 하나의 TV에 연결할 수 있는 수많은 기기들이 개발, 판매되고 있다. 이렇게 연결하는 방법 중 현재 많이 사용하고 있는 방법 중에 하나인 HDMI의 경우에 HDMI-CEC라는 기능을 도입해서 연결된 각각의 기기를 따로따로 컨트를 하지 않고 하나의 리모컨으로 적용하는 방안을 제시하고 있다. 현재 가정에서 사용하는 DVD-Recorder에 HDMI-CEC 기능을 대응하여, 사용자가 원하는 기능을 여러 개의 기기를 직접 제어하는 것이 아니라, 단 하나의 키 동작으로 여러 개의 기기를 동시에 제어하는 시스템을 설계한다면 사용자에게 많은 편의를 줄 수가 있다. 그러나, 이러한 시스템을 설계했을 경우에 사용자가 원하는 동작을 정확히 안 하는 문제, 반응 속도가 너무 느려서 사용자가 동작을 안 하는 것으로 착각하게 만드는 문제와 HDMI-CEC의 Spec에서는 제시하고 있지 않으나 사용자의 편의물 위해서 지원해야 하는 경우가 있을 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 HDMI-CEC와 PDC의 spec에 대한 설명을 하고, HDMI-CEC를 적용한 시스템에 대한 설계를 한다. 그리고, 그 시스템에서 발견된 문제 중 정확한 동작을 하지 않는 TV가 꺼져있는 OnTouchPlay의 경우의 대한 처리와, 반응 속도가 느린 경우인 시스템을 부팅하는 경우의 반응시간을 줄이는 방안, 그리고 HDMI-CEC의 spec에는 없으나 사용자의 편의를 위해서 지원해야 하는 기능들에 대해 논한다.

  • Modern people who have been busy in their busy daily life tend to reduce outside activities and activities in their homes are increasing. As a result, the frequency of use of electronic products such as computers is increasing and products are being developed. However, the remaining inconvenience of using a computer is that you have to sit in front of a computer when you are tired and want to watch movies, browse the internet and do simple tasks. This is why the penetration rate of smartphones is increasing. In order to solve the inconvenience of such a computer, we have designed a program that enables Wake on LAN function, which is a function for booting a remote shutdown computer, and mouse control and keyboard control by communicating with a smartphone application and a computer.

  • Portable multimedia Player (PMP) devices have been gaining in its popularity with the emerging digital convergence of data, video, audio, etc. Since the PMP devices are typically equipped with DSP, a bigger LCD screen, and a hard disk, efficient power management has become more crucial than the other portable devices. This paper builds up a hardware/software-based power measurement system based on data acquisition devices. Subsequently, it measures and analyzes the power consumed in commercial PMP devices under different types of events: the system boot & shutdown, video playback, and the use of different video-coding types. Finally, our analysis of the measured power consumption patterns reveals useful information for the design of low-power PMP devices.

  • In this paper, we introduce the client side cache of distributed file system for enhancing read performance by eliminating the network latency and decreasing the back-end storage burden. This performance enhancement can expand the fields of distributed file system to not only cloud storage service but also high performance storage service. This paper shows that the distributed file system with client side SSD cache can satisfy the requirements of VDI(Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) storage. The experimental results show that full-clone is more than 2 times faster and boot time is more than 3 times faster than NFS.

  • Many people is studying the embedded system. The embedded system becomes a small size device. The DOM memory is using in the mobile device and small site devices. This paper proposes light-weighted Linux O.S that is running onto the DOM memory. The embedded system with the DOM must have a light-weigthed O.S due to the memory space restriction. This paper designs light-weigthed Linux O.S for the DOM memory. The new designed LILO boot loader boots the new designed light-weigthed Linux O.S as a normal Linux O.S. This paper experiments comparing the designed new light-weigthed Linux O.S with a Linux PC.

  • If the control system that works important job fails, economical loss occurred. Hence, to guarantee high reliability, it must be duplicated. In the case of traditional duplication mechanism, dedicated operating system with duplication functions were built. This required much development and maintenance cost. They can be saved, if we use commercial operating system and its development environment.This paper proposes a duplication mechanism for the system based on commercial 0S. The system that explained in this paper is BSC(Base Station Controller). The duplicated BSC system uses concurrent write memory for synchronization and VxWorks as an operating system. We propose how the task supporting duplication functions is executed without delay and preemption, how to synchronize standby's memory with active' s, and how to use concurrent-write memory easily with VxWorks' s partition. We also describe the takeover procedure when the active detects its hardware fault and when the standby recognizes the failure of the active.

  • This paper discusses performance bottlenecks that may occur when executing high-performance computing MPI applications in the Intel's next generation many-core processor called Knights Landing(KNL), as well as effective resource allocation techniques to solve this problem. KNL is composed of a host processor to enable self-booting in addition to an existing accelerator consisting of a many-core processor, and it was released with a new type of on-package memory with improved bandwidth on top of existing DDR4 based memory. We empirically verified an improvement of the execution performance of multiple MPI applications and the overall system utilization ratio by studying a resource allocation method optimized for such new many-core processor architectures.

  • To transfer files between nodes on network based on Ethernet, file transfer protocol (FTP) on TCP/IP and trivial file transfer protocol (TFTP) on UDP/IP are mostly used. Due to the lack of resources (processor, memory and so on) in the embedded system where we generally use for simple works with small firmware like ones; many of the systems implement only UDP/IP for their network stacks. Thus, TFTP is greatly to be preferred. For examples, environmental sensor devices for sensor networks, Boot Loader for general embedded device and preboot execution environment (PXE) boot for PC provide the TFTP. The logic of TFTP is simple for file transmission but, there is Stop-And-Wait problem during the process which occurs long blocking time. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which called QuTFTP(Quick UDP Trivial File Transfer Protocol) to reduce the length of the blocking time and to be compatible with the legacy TFTP.
