Purpose: Actually until now, there is few historic records concern on oriental OB&GY from late Joseon Dynasty colonized by Japan. therefore, this research was studied in priority with historic background and medical-history for this book and writer. Methods: the related data were collected through books on history, medicine books, essays, and family councils, contents of $\ll$女科大要$\gg$ were made a comparative study with $\ll$東醫寶鑑$\gg$. Results : As it seems to be accomplished writing and publication of this book, $\ll$女科大要$\gg$ at that times, and there is no former days data about the author, 李載建, this research was progressed by dividing into background research and comparison study. Conclusion: there is insufficient report on information of this book and the author, but it is considered that enough value is by existence of a book and person's discovery. Besides, it is thought to need more study on comparison with books same age and exchange with historic persons of Korean traditional medicine.

Purpose: It is the purpose of this study to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects and mechanism of cheukbaekjurpihwan(CBJPH) extract on LPS (lipopolysaccharide)-induced inflammatory mediators in murine peritoneal macrophages. Methods: To evaluate anti-inflammatory effects of CBJPH extract, the production of cytokines(TNF-${\alpha}$(tumor necrosis factor-alpha), IL(interleukin)-6, IL-12) and NO(nitric oxide) was measured in vitro and in vivo. And western blot analysis has been done to look into the mechanism. Results: CBJPH extract reduced LPS-induced NO, TNF-${\alpha}$ and IL-6, IL-12 productions in peritoneal macrophages. CBJPH extract inhibited the activation of JNK(c-Jun N-terminal kinase), but didn't inhibit the activation of MAPKs (mitogen-activated protein kinases) such as p38, ERK1/2(extracelluar signal-regulated kinase1/2) and the degradation of $I_{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$(inhibitory kappa B-alpha) in the LPS-stimulated peritoneal macrophages. CBJPH extract suppressed LPS-induced endotoxin shock and the productions of TNF-${\alpha}$, but not of IL-6, after an oral administration of CBJPH extract Conclusion: CBJPH extract suppressed the productions of LPS-induced NO and cytokines by preventing JNK from phosphorylation, which may provide a clinical basis for anti-inflammatory properties of CBJPH.

Purpose: This study is to examine antioxidant activities of Dioscoreae Rhizoma on HeLa cell Methods: Aqueous extract was used to treat HeLa cell with different concentrations treated with water or MeOH extract of Dioscoreae batatas (0, x10, x20, x40, x80). The MTT reduction assay and flow cytometric analysis was employed to quantify the differences in cell activity and viability. Results: Co-treatment with $H_2O_2$ and Dioscoreae batatas extracts reduced apoptosis of HeLa cells by decreasing G2/M arrest. Dioscoreae batatas extracts increased the survival rate of cells treated with cisplatin and Scutellaria barbata. Conclusion: Our results suggest that Dioscoreae Rhizoma extracts induce cell protective effect by antioxidant activities.

Purpose: This study was performed to determine the inhibitory effect of Polygonum multiflorum(PM) on melanin synthesis in B16F10. Methods: The Inhibitory effects of Polygonum multiflorum(PM) on melanin synthesis were determined by in-vitro assay. To elucidate inhibitory effects of Polygonum multiflorum on melanin synthesis, we determined the melanin release and melanin production in B16F10. And to investigate the action mechanism, we assessed the gene expression of tyrosinase, TRP-1, TRP-2, MMP-2, PKA, PKC, ERK-1 ERK-2, AKT-1, MITF in B16F10. Results: 1. PM inhibited melanin-release, melanin production in B16F10. 2. PM inhibited tyrosinase activity in vitro and in B16F10. 3. PM suppressed the expression of tyrosinase, TRP-1 in B16F10. 4. PM suppressed the expression of PKA in B16F10. 5. PM suppressed the expression of ERK-1, ERK-2, AKT-1 in B16F10. 6. PM suppressed the expression of MITF in B16F10. Conclusion: From these results, it may be concluded that PM possesses the antimelanogenetic effects.

Purpose: This study was examined to verify the anti-oxidative effect of Dioscoreae Rhizoma on HeLa cells by proteomic approach. Methods: Aqueous extract was used to treat HeLa cell with different concentrations treated with water or MeOH extract of Dioscoreae Rhizoma. HeLa cells were co-treated with $H_2O_2$ and Dioscoreae Rhizoma extracts. Proteomics was done to identify, characterize, and quantitate proteins expressed in HeLa cells treated by $H_2O_2$ and Dioscoreae Rhizoma. Results: When HeLa cells were Co-treated with $H_2O_2$ and Dioscoreae batatas extracts, 16 proteins identified by 2-DE and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and database search. PRDX, HSP27 was major proteins of antioxidant effect by Dioscoreae batatas. Conclusion: Our results suggest that Dioscoreae Rhizoma extracts induce antioxidant effects by regulating proteins such as PRDX, HSP27.

Purpose: Obesity is already a major clinical problem in Korea, so obesity prevention and treatment practices are gradually interested in Korean Medicine doctors. Moreover subjective body shape image entered as a important medical topic recently. To make a graph system for clinical tool which based on the Korean national standard physical scale in 30yrs Korean women. Methods: Physical data of the girth of upper arm, abdomen, hip, buttock, flank, calf, and body weight were statistically analyzed, which collected through the fifth national standard physical scale research. And then reviewed those statistical validation. Results: Relationship of the each body scale data and those graphs were fit and right statistically. Conclusion: These new achieved graph system of Korean standard body scales could be adopt as a useful clinical tool for body image related patients such as obesity, PCOD and postpartum patient in 30yrs Korean women.

Purpose: Separation of symphysis pubis during delivery is a rare condition. The separation might cause pubic pain, radiating pain of both leg, inguinal pain, and gait disturbance. The purpose of this case was to report the clinical effectiveness of Traditional Korean Treatment on decreasing those symptoms. Methods: The patient in this case was 34-year-old female, The chief complains were pubic pain(right side was severe), radiating pain of right inguinal pain, gait disturbance and low back pain. She was treated by Traditional Korean medicine, acupuncture, and Placenta Herbal Acupuncture. The progress of symptoms were evaluated by visual analogue scale. Results: After those Traditional Korean therapy, most symptoms were improved. But width of symphysis pubis remained unchanged. Conclusion: This case shows that Traditional Korean therapy might be effective in decreasing symptoms on separation of symphysis pubis during delivery.

Toinsul consists of breathing method and exercising method by stimulation of acupuncture point and meridian. It activates the circulation of energy and blood and helps excretion of noxious vapor and it improves elasticity and vitality of muscles, tendon md ligament. It sharpens both secretion of synovia .and circulation around joints and also controls the whole body through meridian. This report introduces some about the exercise methods for treatment of lumbago and shoulder joint diseases among medical, surgical and gynecological diseases. It can be used for health care, treatment, relaxation muscles and recovery from fatigue in an aspect of prevention. It has been widely used for treatment of diseases and promotion of health so far even though it is not yet demonstrated scientifically. Therefore, it should be used mere efficiently as an important part of the oriental physical therapy.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of traditional Korean medicine therapy on Bell’s palsy during early puerperium. Methods : The patient who had Bell’s palsy during early puerperium were treated with traditional Korean medicine such as Gunggwijohyeol-eum, Saenghwa-tang, Gunggwijohyeol-eumhabBulsu-san and Sasang constitution medicine. The progresses of symptoms were evaluated by House-Brackmann facial nerve grading system and Numeric Rating System (NRS). Results : After treatment, the patient’s symptoms of Bell’s palsy and puerperium were improved. Conclusions : This case study shows that the postpartum care in traditional Korean medicine therapy and Sasang constitution medicine is effective for the patient who had Bell’s palsy during early puerperium.

Objectives : To study correlation between Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging, Kupperman’s Index (KI) and Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) of Postmenopausal Women Methods : We analyzed 114 patients visiting Pohang Oriental Hospital from 1 ^st January 2014 to 30 ^th September 2015. The evaluating indexed of this trial were Age, DITI, KI, MRS. Temperature and different of temperature, such as In-dang (HN3), dan-Jung (CV17), gwan-won (CV4), hyup-back (LU4), no-gung (PC8), bock-to (ST31), and tae-chung (LR3). Results : Age was no correlation with DITI, KI, and MRS. There were positive correlation with KI and MRS significantly. DITI was not correlated with Age, KI and MRS, while ⊿T1 (LU4-PC8) was correlated with ⊿T2 (ST31-LR3) and ⊿T3 (CV17-CV4). Conclusions : There were non-significant correlation between DITI and Menopausal scale, but significant correlation in DITI themselves, Menopausal themselves. The More studies ar needed for the more accurate oriental medical diagnosis
