A Theoretical Foundation for Examination of the Impacts of the Cross-Functional Integration Factors upon the New Product Development Performance (신제품개발 성과에 영향을 미치는 부서간 협력요인에 관한 이론적 토대)

  • The objective of our study is to build a theoretical framework for the examination of impacts of cross-functional integration upon new product development performance(NPDP). For this purpose, we have concentrated our efforts on systematically delving into how cross-functional integration factors affect upon the interdepartmental cooperation and upon the NPDP while dividing those critical integration factors into the structural and the infra-structural ones. We have selected interdepartmental job-rotation, consigning of papers, and cross-functional teem meeting as structural cross-functional integration factors. On the other hand, we have chosen Quality Functional Deployment(QFD), Concurrent Engineering(CE), and Evaluation and Reward Systems as those infra-structural cross-functional integration factors. After identifying those integration factors, we have carefully searched the relationship between those integration factors and those cooperation variables (interdepartmental common goal, interdepartmental interactions, and common sharing of ideas and informations) to look into how they affect upon the NPDP. Among cross-functional integration and NPDP related studies, our study is the first to show systematically how strongly infra-structural integration factors affect upon the achievement of interdepartmental cooperation and the improvement of NPDP. Considering the limitation of our resources and time available for this research, we have limited our study to building only a theoretical framework for future empirical studies to look into how cross-functional integration variables are related with NPDP.

Influence of Organizational Factors on Business Performance in INNOBIZ SMEs: Focusing on the Mediating Effects of Absorption Capacity (기술혁신형 중소기업의 조직요인이 경영성과에 미치는 영향: 흡수역량의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • As the open innovation paradigm spreads, the ability to search for new external knowledge and combine it with the organization's existing knowledge has been cosidered to play an important role in improving business performance of a company. This study empirically analyzed the influence of such organizational variables as empowering leadership, organizational learning culture, and interdepartmental cooperation on business performance of innovative technology SMEs focusing on the mediating effects of absorption capacity. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 15,227 INNOBIZ SMEs, and 326 usable questionnaires were collected and analyzed using the structural equation model. Statistical analyses showed that the direct influence of empowering leadership, organizational learning culture, and interdepartmental cooperation on business performance was not found, but indirect effects of three organizational variables on business performance proved significant using absorption capacity as a mediating variable. This result also indicates that empowering leadership, organizational learning culture, and interdepartmental cooperation are important antecedent variables of absorption capacity.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of team trust and cooperative behavior on the food-service employees' perceived service performance as well as the moderating effects of team competency and other department support in the relationship among the team trust, cooperative behavior, and service performance of food-service employees. We conducted a survey of 1,080 food-service employees working in 8 hotels and 4 food-service stores located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Song-do, Gyeongju, and Busan, and 841 food-service employees were employed for statistical analysis except unreliable responses. As a result of a SEM (structural equation modeling) analysis to confirm hypotheses, it was found that team trust (leader trust and co-worker trust) had a positive effect on the cooperative behavior. In addition, the cooperative behavior had a positive influence on the food-service employees' perceived service performance. Also found was the moderating effect of other department support in the relationship between the cooperative behavior and food-service employees' perceived service performance. Based on the research findings, we discussed its academic and practical implications, and suggestions on the future research.

  • Modern urban problems are increasingly becoming a market mix that can not be solved by the power of a single department and the necessity of establishing a cooperation system based on data communication between departments is increasing. Therefore, this study analyzed Busan metropolitan city's IT projects from 2014 to 2018 in order to understand the utilization and sharing status of departmental data from the viewpoint that cooperation between departments can start from the sharing of data with high common utilization. In addition, based on the results of the FGI(Focus Group Interview) conducted for the officials of the department responsible for the informatization project, we verified the results of data status analysis. At the same time, we figured out the necessity of data link between departments through SNA(Social Network Analysis) and presented data that should be shared first in the future. As a result, most of the information systems currently use limited data only within the department that produced the data. Most of the linked data was concentrated in the information department. Therefore, this study suggested the following solutions. First, in order to prevent overlapping investments caused by the operation of individual departments and share information, it is necessary to build a small platform to tie the departments, which have high connectivity with each other, into small blocks. Second, a local level process is needed to develop data standards as an extension of national standards in order to expand the information to be used in various fields. Third, as another solution, we proposed a system that can integrate various types of information based on address and location information through application of cloud-based GIS platform. The results of this study are expected to contribute to build a cooperation system between departments through expansion of information sharing with cost reduction.

The Characteristics of Healthy City Project in Korea (국내 건강도시 프로젝트 담당자를 대상으로 한 건강도시 관련 특성 조사)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate healthy city project related characteristics to members of the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership(KHCP). Methods: This study analyzed general characteristics of healthy city, characteristics of healthy city(political support, collaboration & citizen participation, healthy city project, infrastructure development, capacity building), self-evaluation of healthy city and etc by self-questionnaires from February to December, 2007, which were distributed to government workers who were in charged in health city project of 23 membership cities of KHCP. Results: The number of urban city was 11(47.8%) and that of rural municipality was 12(52.5%). Public health center was almost in charge of healthy city project(73.9%). As for the characteristics of healthy city, healthy city municipal budget(91.3%), city health profile(91.3%), technical support of cooperative university(82.6%), healthy city regulation(78.3%), citizen participation(78.3%), committee(73.9%), setting approach(69.9%) and healthy city network(69.6%) were good. But intersectoral collaboration(34.8%), long-term healthy city plan(39.1%), administrative policy or campaign promise(43.5%), programs to the vulnerable population(47.8%), department in charge(47.8%) and seminar(47.8%) were not good. Especially, characteristics of healthy city according to the existence of department in charge were significantly different in intersectoral collaboration, citizen participation, setting approach and healthy city network. Conclusions: In spite of rapid expansion in healthy cities, there were great difficulty in political support, collaboration, department in charge and programs of health equity. So we need to go a long way to achieve the vision of healthy cites by its principles and characteristics.

  • 현대 산업의 기업활동에 있어서 조직의 확대와 세분화,제품의 다양화 및 전문화에 따라, 생산활동을 위한 부서간의 정보 공유는 물론 협력업체, 부품공급 업체 상호간의 원활한 정보교환이 필수적인 요구 조건이 되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 기업환경의 변경에도 불구하고 이들 정보들이 서로 다른 형식과 구조, 이 기종의 컴퓨터 환견과 각기 다른 데이터 저장방식 또는 운용소프트웨어,네트웍 구조 등의 문제로 인하여, 문서교환에 의해 상호간의 정보를 공유하는 것이 현재의 실정이다. 문서교환에 의존하는 현재의 정보교환 방식은 과다한 서류의 중복작성 및 보관, 데이터의 부정확, 개발 납기의 지연과 같은 문제점을 갖게 된다.이러한 문제점 해결을 위해 제품개발에서 생산, 영업활동 전반에 걸친 정보 자동화 및 시스템들 상호간의 제품정보의 호환성 문제가 주요한 관심사가 되도 있다. 본 연구는 국제표준인 STEP 응용규약의 하나인 AP203(Application Protocol)을 이용하여 제품설계 정보 시스템을 구축하고자 한다.

  • 본 연구는 국내 Born Global Firm의 기술요인들이 해외신규시장 진입시기에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구모형을 제시하고, 국내 Born Global Firm을 대상으로 이에 대한 인과관계를 실증 분석하였다. 기존의 해외시장 진입시기에 관한 선행연구를 토대로 기술경쟁력, R&D 네트워크, R&D 정보력을 독립변수로 설정하고, 이러한 요인이 Born Global Firm의 해외신규시장 진입시기에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가설을 설정하였다. 기존 선행연구를 통하여 기술경쟁력의 대용변수로 지적재산권, R&D 투자비용, R&D 전담기구 기능을, R&D 네트워크는 부서간 협력, 국내외 공동연구, R&D 정보력은 R&D 관련 정보 수집능력(경쟁업체 R&D 동향정보, 관련 주요연구자 정보 등), R&D 관련 정보 분석능력(기술이슈 및 트렌드 분석, 기술수준 분석 등), R&D 정보 활용능력(R&D 기획, 응용 분야 확장 등) 등을 사용하고 기업 내부요인과 수출관련에 대한 가설을 설정하였다. 특히, 해외시장 진입형태 중 FDI, 계약에 의한 해외시장진입 보다는 국내에서 가장 많은 해외진입 형태인 수출에 초점을 맞추었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 국내 107개의 Born Global Firm을 대상으로 다중회귀분석 한 결과, Born Global Firm의 직접수출에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 요인으로는 지적재산권과, 부서간 협력, R&D 정보 활용능력 등으로 나타났다. 특히 기술이슈 및 트렌드 분석 정보력은 해외시장 진입시기를 앞당기는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 최근 제조업체들은 치열한 서비스 경쟁을 벌이고 있지만, 제조업체를 대상으로 한 서비스 연구는 부족하다. 본 연구는 제조업체 서비스가 고객과 기업 간의 정보 교류의 장이 될 수 있다는 관점에서, 제품 판매 이후 고객과의 관계 속에 일어나는 모든 활동을 '판매 후 시장활동'이라고 정의하고 활동 유형 분류하였다. 가전업체를 대상으로 하여 기업의 조직특성과 제품특성이 판매 후 시장활동에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 연구 결과에 의하면 조직특성에서는 부서간 협력이, 제품특성에서는 제품수명주기가 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Domestic corporation in High-tech industry invest huge amounts of economic resources into the Research & Development(R&D) department, especially into new product development. It might be an adequate explanation for this phenomena that as the product life cycle gets shorter, and environmental uncertainty necessitates core competency from every corporation, new product planning becomes a vital going concern for the company to keep and increase its market share This could originate from an inappropriate combination between new products and other marketing mix elements. But it could be that the main cause of these failures com from unsatisfactory customers. In the other words, R&D department failed to sufficiently recognize market needs. This could be solved through integration between marketing department R&D department This study supposes that integration between these two departments-marketing department and R&D department influences the success of new product. In other to prove this, this study examined the determinant factors which influence the integration and the relationships
