Assessment of Flood Frequency of Bankfull Discharge in Korea Rivers (국내 하천 강턱유량시의 홍수빈도 추정)

  • Channel form discharge which determines shape and character of a channel is named as dominant discharge. Assuming that fixed discharge flows in the fluvial plain for a long time, it is channel form discharge of a certain channel if it changes the fluvial plain into shape of the channel. Channel form discharge can be demonstrated by concept of bankfull or effective discharge. 1.01, 1.58, 2, 2.33 and 5 year flood discharge were used in order to determine channel form discharge. Each frequency discharge was determined by 80 year flood discharge by a research result conducted by Kim and Won. 1.01 year frequency discharge was selected as the most similar discharge to bankfull discharge. 1.58 year frequency discharge habitually used in Korea exceeded bankfull discharge.

Analysis of Adaptation for The first-time Progressive Lenses Glasses Wearers (누진렌즈 안경 처음 착용자의 적응도 분석)

  • Purpose: This study analyzed the factors related to adaptation of people who wears progressive lenses glasses for the first time. Methods: 463 presbyopia (Aged 41~78) without any ocular diseases with the progressive lens glasses were prescribed from 2010 to 2011 at B clinic in the Gwangju city. Progressive lenses adaptation were analyzed according to gender, age, distance refractive state, presbyopic addition, progressive lens design, the old glasses, astigmatism type, and anisometropia etc. High, mid and low-adapted groups were categorized as the status of wearing progressive lenses glasses, re-wearing, occasionally wearing and failed to weraing, respectively. Results: Men showed significantly higher adaptation (p=0.02) than women. Presbyopic addition (p=0.05) and progressive lens design (p=0.02) were statistically significant. However, it was found that there was so statistical significance for the factors of age, distance refractive state, the old glasses, astigmatism type, and anisometropia. Conclusions: According to the results of this study, when progressive lenses were prescribed, we should consider for adaptation gender, presbyopic addition, and progressive lens design etc.

Probabilistic Study of Surface Subsidence due to the Collapse of Underground Void during Earthquakes (지진에 따른 지하공동의 붕괴로 인한 지표면 함몰에 대한 확률론적 연구)

  • This study is related to the surface subsidence due to the collapse of a underground void during earthquakes. The amount of the settlement due to the collapse of a underground void will depend on the depth of the void, the initial condition of unit weight of sand, the size and type of foundation, the strength of earthquake, the size of a void, etc. The purpose of the paper is to estimate the amount of the subsidence, analyse the factors affecting the subsidence, and develop a program determining the probability of the damages to structures in terms of absolute and differential settlement and rotational settlement. On the base of the results obtained in this study, when the depth of a void is constant and the width of the void increases, the change of the subsidence factor due to the angle of internal friction and the actual effective factor of the void become smaller than that due to the unit weight of sand deposits. In the same condition, the probabilities of damages due to the absolute and differential settlement increase, and those due to the rotational settlement decrease.

  • In this paper, we presents robust digital redesign (DR) method for observer-based linear time-invariant (LTI) system. The term of DR involves converting an analog controller into an equivalent digital one by considering two condition: state-matching and stability. The design problems viewed as a convex optimization problem that we minimize the error of the norm bounds between interpolated linear operators to be matched. Also, by using the bilinear and inverse bilinear approximation method, we analyzed the uncertain parts of given observer-based system more precisely, When a sampling period is sufficiently small, the conversion of a analog structured uncertain system to an equivalent discrete-time system have proper reason. Sufficiently conditions for the state-matching of the digitally controlled system are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs).

  • Network expansion has been an inevitable method for most traffic equilibrium assignments to consider intersection movements such as intersection delays. The drawback of network expansion is that because it dramatically increases network sizes to emulate possible directional movements as corresponding links, not only is complexities for building network amplified, but computational performance is shrunk. This paper Proposes a new variational inequality formulation for a user-optimal traffic equilibrium assignment model to explicitly consider directional delays without building expanded network structures. In the formulation, directional delay functions are directly embedded into the objective function, thus any modification of networks is not required. By applying a vine-based shortest Path algorithm into the diagonalization algorithm to solve the problem, it is additionally demonstrated that various loop-related movements such as U-Turn, P-Turn, etc., which are frequently witnessed near urban intersections, can also be imitated by blocking some turning movements of intersections. The proposed formulation expects to augment computational performance through reduction of network-building complexities.

Relationship between Dominant Eye and Refractive Error in Myopic Anisometropia (굴절부등근시환자에서의 우세안과 굴절이상의 관계)

  • Purpose: To investigate the relationship between dominant eye and refractive error in patients with myopic anisometropia. Methods: This study population consisted of myopes less than 15 years old who were followed up for anisometropia defined as interocular difference of spherical equivalent (SE) ≥1.0 diopter (D). All patients underwent the hole-in-the-card test at far and near to determine ocular dominance. The data were analyzed for statistical significance using Fisher's exact test. Results: A total of 102 eyes in 51 patients were analyzed. The mean age of the patients was 10.4 ± 1.4 years and 54.9% were male. The mean SE was -2.97 ± 1.95 D in the right eye and -3.02 ± 1.92 D in the left eye. The right eye was the dominant eye in 43.1% and 37.3% at distance and near, respectively. The agreement of dominancy between distant and near was 82.4%. The near dominant eyes showed statistically significant accordance with more myopic eyes (p = 0.009). On the other hand, there was no statistically significant relationship between more myopic eyes and distant dominant eyes (p = 0.09). Conclusions: The near dominant eye was more myopic eye in patients with myopic anisometropia. This was considered to be related with the lag of accommodation in dominant eye with near distance.

Behaviors of Cutting Force and Acoustic Emission in Different Helix Angle Endmilling (부등각 엔드밀 가공시 절살력과 음향방출 신호 거동)

  • This study shows how the change of helix angle of different helix angle end mill affects machining accurracy. It was verified that cutting force are remarkably low when endmill has helix angle of different helix angle 250, 310, 370 and AE signal have less reationshap with the change of helix angle. Moreover, as the number of rotations are increases, the AE signal increased with the proportion to the number but cutting force are inversely proportional to the rotation.

  • 사출성형품의 품질특성으로 외관, 치수, 기계적 강도 등이 있으나 조립부품으로써 사 될경우에는 치수가 주요한 품질이 된다. 성형품은 용융수지의 특성상 사출공정 중 수축을 일으키므로 이를 고려해서 금형설계가 이루어지지만 실제 사출과정에서 공정변수를 최적화 하여 관리하지 않으면 허용오차 내의 치수를 얻기가 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 주요조립부의 치수가 허용오차 내에서 얻어지도록 설계시 적용된 수축률과 측정된 수축률의 차이를 목적 함수로 하여 최소화 시키며 반복이차계획 알고리즘을 채택한 IDESIGN 프로그램을 이용해 최적 사출성형조건을 구하였다. 제약조건은 성형품의 부위별 수축률 편차 및 싱크마크 깊이 가 공정변수의 부등호 제약식으로 도출되었고 성형이 이루어지는 공정변수의 상하한 값이 최대 및 최소 경계값으로 적용되었다.
