Characteristic of EP-MAP for Deburring of Microgroove using EP-MAP (전해-자기 복합 가공을 이용한 미세 그루브형상의 가공 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Magnetic abrasive polishing is an advanced deburring process for nonmagnetic materials and micropattern products that have non-machinability characteristics. Despite these advantages, there are some problems with using MAP for deburring. MAP has introduced geometric errors into microgrooves because of an over-cutting force caused by uncontrolled magnetic abrasives in the MAP tool. Thus, in this study, to solve this problem, an EP (electrolyte polishing)-MAP hybrid polishing process was developed for deburring microgrooves in an STS316 material. In addition, an evaluation of EP-MAP for the deburring of microgrooves was carried out by profiling the burrs. The results of the experiment showed geometric errors after the deburring process using MAP. However, in the case of EP-MAP, no geometric error was observed after the process because of the lower material removal rate in EP-MAP.

  • 근래 가공소재로 폭넓게 활용되고 있는 신소재의 대부분은 난삭재로 분류되고 있으며 난삭재 사공에 대한 연구도 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 난삭성에 영향을 미치는 민감한 요인은 재표특성과 가공요소의 복합성을 들 수 있고, 난삭재의 가공은 재료마다 그 최상요건이나 가공방법이 다르므로 일률적인 취급은 곤란하여 각각의 특성을 정확하게 파악하는 것이 중요하다고 하겠다.

Suppression of Machine Tool Spindle Vibration by using TiC-SKH51 Metal Matrix Composite (TiC-SKH51 금속 복합재를 이용한 공작기계 주축 진동 억제에 관한 연구)

  • With increasing demands for high-speed machining and lightweight design of machine tools, increasing likeliness of generation of machine tool spindle vibrations has become an important issue. Spindle vibration has a significant impact on the surface finish of the workpiece in ultra-precision machining. It is necessary to resolve the machine tool spindle vibration in various machining processes to improve machining accuracy. In this paper, a TiC-SKH51 metal-matrix composite was used to suppress the vibration of the machine tool spindle. To confirm the dynamic characteristic of the TiC-SKH51 composite, impact hammer tests were conducted. After verifying the reliability of a finite element analysis (FEA) by comparing the results of the impact hammer test with the modal analysis using FEA, the analysis of the machine tool spindle model was performed. The FEA results show that the TiC-SKH51 composite applied machine tool spindle can be utilized to suppress the vibration generation.

Machining Analysis of the Autofrettaged Compound Cylinder (자긴가공된 복합실린더의 기계가공해석)

  • Autofrettage process is used for internal forming and sizing of cylinder designed to withstand high internal pressures. Once the tube is autofrettaged, it needs to be machined to its final dimensions both at the bore and its outer surface. This paper presents an analytical analysis and numerical analysis of machined compound cylinder using finite element code, ANSYS10.0. An analytical model for predicting the level of autofrettage following either inner, outer, or combined machining of the compound cylinder is developed for the autofrettage residual stress field is simulated by an autofrettaged pressure. The autofrettaged pressures are obtained by using trying-error method. As autofrettage percentage is 20 % and 40 %, the numerical results are found to be in almost agreement with the analytical ones. However, as autofrettage percentage is 60 %, the numerical results have a little difference with the analytical ones.

  • To build a high precision machine tool and increase its productivity, structural analysis needs to be carried out for vibration and stiffness of the machine tools before any detailed design. Therefore, in this paper, static and dynamic analysis is carried out to evaluate 8-axis multi tasking machining beds for automotive power train shafts; then, selection of an appropriate device is made for application to bed design. The results of structural and modal analysis confirmed the structural characteristics of the 8-axis multi tasking machine for automotive power train shaft beds: and the second shape bed is the safest is considered secure.

Development of the optimal Jig & fixture applied to ultra-precision saddle machining (복합가공기용 초정밀급 새들 가공을 위한 최적의 고정구 개발)

  • The increasing level of demand for multi-tasking machines requires a saddle with an ultra-precise machining accuracy level of $15{\mu}m$, as such a saddle is one of the main components of these machines. The manner of achieving ultra-precise machining accuracy mainly depends on the fixed forces. In this paper, we optimized the number of contact points and the contact positions to reduce the deformation of the saddle while it is machined. The performance levels of the proposed optimal jig and fixture are determined by measuring the flatness, parallelism and perpendicularity of a machined saddle. The machining accuracy is found to be lower than $15{\mu}m$ at all measured points.
