Dynamic Effects Analysis on a Solar Array Due to Attitude Control Thruster Plume (자세제어 추력기 배기가스에 의한 태양전지판의 동적 영향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the dynamic disturbances(disturbed forces and disturbed torques) due to attitude control thruster's plume impingement on the solar arrays. To produce database of the dynamic disturbances a sweep analysis was done, in which the two parameters are used; the distance between the thruster and solar arrays and the thruster tilt angle. Based on the database, a third order polynomial approximation is computed to represent the characteristics of the disturbed forces and torques. The final results are the coefficients of the approximation for each solar array angle position. These results as input data are used to optimize the configuration of the attitude control thrusters. This analysis is appled to the two candidate solar arrays for Geo-Kompsat-2 satellite and the results of the disturbed forces and disturbed torques are compared and analysed.

  • In this research, the safety trends and technologies of HCNG, a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas, are analyzed. This is an attracting alternative fuels to meet the strengthened automotive exhaust gas emission standards. HCNG is very important opportunities and challenges in that it is available the existing CNG infrastructures, meets the strengthened emission standards, and the technical, social bridge of the coming era of hydrogen. It is essential for the commercialization of HCNG that hydrogen - compressed natural gas blended fuel for use in preparation of various safety considerations included accidents scenario, safety distance, hydrogen attack, ignition sources and fire detectors are examined. Risk assessments also are suggested as one of permission procedure for HCNG filling station.

  • The amount and quality of waste heat from a gas engine which is modified from an automobile gasoline engine is analyzed. Exhaust temperature is $573.8^{\circ}C$ and engine cooling water exit temperature is $85.7^{\circ}C$. The amount of waste heat of engine cooling water is double compared to that of exhaust gas. Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) system is designed for two different waste heat source of engine cooling water and engine exhaust and is thermodynamically analyzed.

  • An activated carbon-photo catalysis hybrid system is proposed for the treatment of VOC produced from paint booth. and its VOC removal performance is experimentally evaluated. Activated carbon tower is designed on the basis of the adsorption characteristics of toluene. Photocatalytic system is designed as the series of $TiO_2/SiO\_2$ fluidized bed reactor and $TiO_2$-coated filters. The present activated carbon-photo catalysis hybrid system shows the VOC removal efficiency within $75\~100\%$ under different VOC species and concentrations.

Primary Fire Behavior of Compounded Multiplex Theater with Various Fire Conditions (조합형 복합상영관에서의 화재조건에 따른 초기화재 거동해석)

  • This paper investigated the fire and smoke behavior in the compounded multiplex theater using FDS with various spacial and boundary conditions to ensure the fire safety of the multiplex. The results showed that more rapid temperature increase and smoke can be induced near the exit door for the lower fire load duo to the horizontal smoke movement. The overuse of fire resistants can generate more smoke while delaying combustion rate, which can give adverse effect to the evacuation. The mal-function of the exhaust fan would obstruct smoke exhaust but also retard the function of sprinkler head.

  • In this paper, a compact and wideband CLAS(Conformal Load bearing Antenna Structure) was studied using smart skin technique. In order to satisfy the electrical performance of the CLAS antenna, the proposed CLAS antenna is composed of conductive mesh, face-sheet, radiator, honeycomb, housing. Especially, radiator is composed of composite magneto-dielectric material and radiating element etched on the PCB (Printed Circuit Board). The radiating element is inserted into the composite magneto-dielectric material and has sloted Folded LP(Log Periodic) structure. By fabricated composite magneto-dielectric, the resonance frequency is decreased and the impedance matching characteristics is improved. We verified that the antenna has wideband characteristics and compact size using the antenna test results.

  • 반도체 공정 등에서 $10^{-6}{\sim}10^{-8}$ mbar의 고진공 환경을 제공하기 위하여 사용되는 고진공 터보분자펌프 (Turbomolecular Pump, TMP)는 다층의 회전깃을 갖는 로터를 회전시켜 분자를 배출시키는 방식을 사용하는 진공펌프이다. 또한 최근에는 디스플레이 및 반도체 공정에서 높은 진공도뿐만 아니라, 높은 배기속도를 요구하는 추세에 따라, 터보 펌프와 드래그 펌프부분을 동시에 가지고 있어 상대적으로 작동 진공도 영역이 넓은 복합 분자펌프(Compound Turbomolecular Pump, CMP)의 활용도가 넓어지고 있다. 이러한 분자펌프가 장시간의 고속회전에 적합하도록 비접촉 방식인 자기부상 방식의 적용이 최근 거의 표준화 되어 있다. 자기베어링 시스템은 전자기력을 이용하여 자성체인 회전축을 부상지지 함으로써 비접촉 고속 회전이 가능하여 윤활이 용이하지 않은 진공 환경 등 가혹한 환경에 적합하며, 터보분자펌프는 자기베어링이 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 분야이기도 하다. 자기베어링 시스템의 설계는 크게 하드웨어와 소프트웨어로 나누어질 수 있는데, 하드웨어의 경우 전체 로터 시스템의 특성을 고려하여 설계되어야 하며, 주로 자기베어링 코어와 코일, 변위센서 및 전력 증폭 시스템 등의 기전적인 요소들이 이루어져 있다. 하드웨어 설계와 함께 제어시스템의 설계도 매우 중요하며, 이는 자기베어링 시스템이 불안정한 특성을 갖는 개루프계를 갖고 있으므로 안정화를 위한 능동제어 시스템이 필수적이며 진동제어 등 여러 가지 기능이 요구되기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 자기부상형 고진공 복합분자펌프의 제어를 위한 선형제어시스템의 구성을 실제 시스템의 적용을 통하여 설명하였다. 각 제어기는 DSP 를 이용한 디지털 제어시스템으로 구성되었으며, 2,500 l/s 급의 복합 분자펌프 시작품에 적용하여 25,000 rpm 까지의 기본 성능시험을 수행하였으며, 발열 특성의 개선을 위한 비선형 제어기의 설계 사례에 대한 시뮬레이션 결과를 나타내었다.

Theoretical Study on Fuel Savings of Marine Diesel Engine by Exhaust-Gas Heat-Recovery System of Combined Cycle (복합 사이클의 배기가스 열회수 시스템에 의한 선박용 디젤엔진의 연료 절약에 관한 이론적 연구)

  • The thermodynamic characteristics of a combined cycle applied with a topping cycle such as a trilateral cycle at relatively high temperatures and a bottoming cycle such as an organic Rankine cycle at relatively low temperatures have been theoretically investigated. This is an electric generation system used to recover the waste heat of the exhaust gas from a diesel engine used for the propulsion of a large ship. As a result, when the boundary temperature between the topping and the bottoming cycles increased, the system efficiencies of energy and exergy were simultaneously maximized because the total exergy destruction rate (${\sum}\dot{E}_d$) and exergy loss ($\dot{E}_{out2}$) decreased, respectively. In the case of a marine diesel engine, the waste heat recovery electric generation system can be utilized for additional propulsion power, and the propulsion efficiency was found to be improved by an average of 9.17 % according to the engine load variation, as compared to the case with only the base engine. In this case, the specific fuel consumption and specific $CO_2$ emission of the diesel engine were reduced by an average of 8.4% and 8.37%, respectively.

A Study on the Demonstration of Yellow Plume Elimination System from Combined Cycle Power Plant Using Liquid Injection System (액상 직분사 시스템을 이용한 복합화력 황연제거 실증 연구)

  • Combined cycle power plants (CCPP) that use natural gas as fuel are easier to start and stop, and have lower pollutant emissions, so their share of domestic power generation facilities is steadily increasing. However, CCPP have a high concentration of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emission in the initial start-up and low-load operation region, which causes yellow plume and civil complaints. As a control technology, the yellow plume reduction system was developed and operated from the mid-2000s. However, this technology was unable to control the phenomenon due to insufficient preheating of the vaporization system for 10 to 20 minutes of the initial start-up. In this study, CFD analysis and demonstration tests were performed to derive a control technology by injecting a reducing agent directly into the gas turbine exhaust duct. CFD analysis was performed by classifying into 5 cases according to the exhaust gas condition. The RMS values of all cases were less than 15%, showing a good mixing. Based on this, the installation and testing of the demonstration facilities facilitated complete control of the yellow plume phenomenon in the initial start-up.

Infrared Emissivity of Stainless Steel Coated with Composites of Copper Particle and m-Aramid Resin (구리입자/메타아라미드 수지 복합재료 도포 스테인리스 철판의 적외선 방사 특성)

  • As a part of studies to lower the infrared (IR) emissivity from the surface of exhaust nozzle in the turbo jet engine, stainless steel plate was coated with copper particle/meta-aramid resin composites and the IR emissivity of the plate were investigated. Binders of filler particles based on synthetic polymers generally undergo thermal decomposition before $300^{\circ}C$. It was found that the meta aramid resin was thermally stable after the test at $320^{\circ}C$, confirming the excellent thermal stability. Contents of copper particles in the composites were varied from 0 to 70% by volume. It was observed that the copper particle/meta aramid resin composites showed good adhesion after the tests at $320^{\circ}C$. The specimen coated with the composite containing 50 vol% of copper particles showed the lowest IR emissivity, 0.6, at $320^{\circ}C$.
