Effect of ginger and cinnamon extract mixtures on the growth of intestinal bacteria and intestinal inflammation (생강계피 복합물이 장내 유익균 증식 및 염증조절 기능에 미치는 영향)

  • We aimed to assess the potential growth-promoting effects of ginger and cinnamon mixtures (GCM) on intestinal bacteria and their anti-inflammatory effects in a cellular model of intestinal inflammation. Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus sp., and Lactobacillus acidophilus served as intestinal bacteria. Further, in the inflammatory co-culture model, Caco-2 cells co-cultured with RAW264.7 cells were treated with GCM before the addition of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to induce inflammation in RAW264.7 cells. Addition of GCM to modified Eggerth Gagnon media at a ginger:cinnamon ratio of 1:5 increased the growth of B. longum, Lactobacillus sp., and L. acidophilus compared to that of the control. In a cellular model, compared to LPS-treated groups, GCM-treated groups maintained high transepithelial electrical resistance at ginger:cinnamon ratios of 1:1, 1:3, 1:5, and 1:7 and decreased the tight junction permeability at 3:1, 1:1, 1:3, and 1:5 ratios, similar to that shown by the control groups. In addition, GCM-treated groups showed decreased levels of nitrite at 1:1, 1:5, and 1:7 ginger:cinnamon ratios. Based on these results, it can be concluded that among the various combinations of GCM, the ginger:cinnamon ratio of 1:5 is the optimal composite ratio that shows positive effects on the intestinal beneficial bacteria and in anti-inflammation.

Effect of Garlic Enzymatic Hydrolysates and Natural Color Resource Composites on Lipid Metabolism in Rat Fed a High Fat Diet (마늘 효소분해물과 천연색소 소재의 복합물이 고지방 식이성 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향)

  • The study was performed to investigate the effects of enzyme treated garlic (EG) and its natural resources composites on lipid levels in serum and liver of rats fed a high fat diet. Four different types of EG-composite extracts prepared: EG and EG + grape peel (EGG), EG + Persimmon (EGP) and EG + Catechu (EGC) by mixed 9.5:0.5, 9:1 and 8:2 (w/w) ratios, respectively. DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity in vitro, show the highest in EG + Catechu (EGC) composite by mixed 8:2 (w/w). EG and EG-composites extracts (8:2, w/w) were administered orally to SD-male rats at a concentration of 2.5 g/kg/day for 5 weeks. Total lipid and cholesterol contents in serum were significantly lower in EGC group than control group, and triglyceride content was the lowest in EGP group by 54.29 mg/dL. HDL-cholesterol contents were significantly higher in EGP and EGC groups. LDL-cholesterol content was lower in EG group than EG-composite groups, and VLDL cholesterol content was the lowest in EGP group. GOT, GPT and ALP activity was significantly lower in EGP group. Total lipid, cholesterol and triglyceride contents in liver were significantly lower in EGP and EGC group than control group. Antioxidant activity in serum was the highest in EGC groups by 50.86%, in liver was the highest in EGP groups. TBARS content in serum and liver was the lowest in EGP group. In these results, we suggest that EGP composites could have hypolipidemic and anti-obesity effects in rats fed a high fat diet.

Antioxidative Activity of a Medicinal Herb Mixture Prepared through the Traditional Antidiabetic Prescription (당뇨처방에 근거한 생약재 복합물의 항산화 활성)

  • The antioxidative activity of a medicinal herb mixture combined with traditional natural herbal materials was investigated. The medicinal herb mixture yielded 35.00% water extracts and 25.33% 80% ethanol extracts. The ethyl acetate fraction yields were 0.64% in the water extracts and 3.76% in the 80% ethanol extracts. The total flavonoid contents of the water and 80% ethanol extracts were 2.34 and 2.42%, respectively, and their total phenolic contents were 5.04 and 4.56%. The total flavonoid and phenolic contents of the ethyl acetate fraction were the highest in the various solvent extracts. The extracts were rich in salicylic and ${\rho}$-coumaric acids. The electron-donating ability of the medicinal herb mixture was 43.32% in the water extracts and 41.32% in the 80% ethanol extracts, and the nitrite-scavenging ability was 9.68% in the water extracts and 8.94% in the 80% ethanol extracts.

  • 현재 개발 중에 있는 비파괴 검사법인 Tapping Sound Analysis 의 실험적 검증을 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 손상이 없는 복합재료 구조물과 손상이 있는 복합재료 구조물에 대한 타격 실험을 통해 타격음과 타격력을 측정하여 비교하였다. Wavelet packet transform에 근거한 특성 추출법을 이용하여 타격음으로부터 손상 판단을 위한 특성을 추출하였다. 손상이 없는 구조물과 손상이 있는 구조물의 특성을 비교하기 위해, 특성 지수를 정의하였다. 정의된 특성 지수를 이용하여 손상이 없는 구조물과 손상이 있는 구조물의 타격음의 차이를 하나의 실수로 표현하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 행렬응축기법 및 부구조기법을 이용하여 가변형 입체 복합 공간 구조물을 효율적으로 해석할 수 있는 해석기법을 제안하였다. 최근 구조공학의 발전과 더불어 다양한 사회적 경제적 요구에 의해 가변형 입체 복합 공간 구조물에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 가변형 입체 복합 공간 구조물은 많은 구조부재가 필요 하며, 부재 수가 많아짐에 따라 각 절점이 가지는 자유도수가 크게 증가하여 초기 해석 과정에서 많은 시간이 요구된다. 또한 구조물이 변경되는 경우에는 변경되는 부분의 강성의 변화에 따라 전체 구조물의 강성이 변경되므로 이에 따른 전체 구조물의 재해석 과정이 필요하다. 이러한 점에서 구조물의 자유도수를 줄여주는 행렬응축기법과 반복적인 해석과정을 줄여주는 부구조기법은 가변형 입체 복합 공간구조물을 효율적으로 해석 할 수 있는 방법이 될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 행렬응축기법과 부구조기법을 이용하여 가변형 입체 복합 공간 구조물을 효율적으로 해석할 수 있는 해석기법을 제안하고, 이를 토대로 구체적인 알고리즘을 작성하였다. 또한 알고리즘을 구체화시켜 가변형 입체 복합 공간 구조시스템에 적합한 구조해석 프로그램을 개발하여 예제 구조물에 대하여 구조해석을 수행하였으며, 구조해석 결과를 상용프로 그램의 구조해석 결과와 비교하여 해석기법에 대한 정확성 및 효율성을 검토하였다.

  • As a recycling of Si sludge from Si wafer process, a Si-SiC-CuO-C composite material was synthesized and investigated as an anode material for lithium batteries. The Si sludge consisted of Si, SiC, machine oil, and metallic impurities. The oil and metal impurities was removed by organic washing, magnetic separation, and acid washing. The Si-SiC-CuO-C composite from the recovered Si-SiC mixture was prepared by high-energy mechanical milling. According to the electrochemical tests such as charge-discharge capacity and cycling behavior, it showed the improved cycle performance. The SiC and CuO-related phases were presumed to restrain the volume expansion of the anode and Fe, however, should be removed below 10 ppm prior to synthesis of the composite because it caused the capacity loss of the active material itself.

  • 2단 또는 3단형으로 설계되고 있는 KSLV-I 발사체의 단연결부는 직경의 변화에 따라 원뿔대(Truncated cone) 구조물이 필요하다. 원뿔대형 구조물이 발사체의 외피일 경우에는 일반적인 실린더형 동체와는 다르게 공력에 의한 버페팅(buffeting)과 공력가열 등이 추가적인 설계인자로 고려되어야 한다. 복합재료 샌드위치 구조물은 외피의 굽힘 강성이 크고, 일체성형으로 실린더형 혹은 원뿔대형 구좁물을 쉽게 제작할 수 있어 단연결부에 적용되고 있다. 또한 위성어댑터(Payload Adapter)등에도 사용되어 우주발사체에는 매우 일반적인 구조물이다. 복합재료 샌드위치 구조물의 제작과 정적시험을 통하여 구조 특성을 알아보았다. 일체형 샌드위치 구조물의 효율을 높이기 위해서는 프레임과의 체결부를 효율적으로 설계하여야 하며 하중의 종류에 따라서 면재의 적층각도가 중요함을 알 수 있었다.

Antioxidant and anti-fatigue effects of abalone (Haliotis discus hannai) composites containing natural plants (전복 복합물의 항산화능 및 피로개선 효과)

  • To develop a functional drink using abalone, two abalone composites (APM-1, APM-2) were prepared by mixing the abalone and natural plants (Lycii fructus and Rubus coreanus Miq.). Their antioxidant and anti-fatigue effects were evaluated using rats running on a treadmill after 4 weeks supplementation of the abalone composites. Experimental groups were divided into four groups including normal (non-exercised group), control (exercised group), one dose per day (EAPM-1), and three doses per day (EAPM-2) with exercise by running. Antioxidant activities, and total phenols and flavonoids contents of APM-2 were significantly higher than those of APM-1 (p<0.05). Total lipid content in serum of EAPM-2 was significantly lower than that of control group (p<0.05). Lactate dehydrogenase activity and blood urea nitrogen content of EAPM-1 and EAPM-2 groups were significantly lower than that of control group. There were no significant difference in aspartate aminotransferase activity among control, EAPM-1 and EAPM-2 groups. In the meanwhile, alanine aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase activities were significantly lower than that of control group. In serum and liver tissues of EAPM-1 and EAPM-2 groups, lipid peroxide contents significantly decreased compared to control group. DPPH radical scavenging activities in liver tissues of EAPM-1 and EAPM-2 groups were significantly higher than those of control group. Therefore, abalone composites were effective for the alleviation of oxidative stress caused by treadmill running, which was dependent on antioxidant activity and phenolic compounds content.

  • 서울대학교 항공우주 구조연구실은 1999년 국가지정연구실로 지정된 이후 인터넷 수퍼컴퓨팅 기술을 이용하여 초대형/고정밀 구조해석 기술을 개발하고 있다. 개발된 기술의 응용 분야로서 항공 우주 구조물에 많이 사용되는 복합재료 구조물에 대한 구조해석을 수행하였다.
