A Study on Human-Friendly Guide Robot (인간친화적인 안내 로봇 연구)

  • The recent development in robot field shows that service robot which interacts with human and provides specific service to human has been researched continually. Especially, robot for human welfare becomes the center of public concern. At present time, guide robot is priority field of general welfare robot and helps the blind keep safe path when he walks outdoor. In this paper, guide robot provides not only collision avoidance but also the best walking direction and velocity to blind people while recognizing environment information from various kinds of sensors. In addition, it is able to provide the most safe path planing on behalf of blind people.

The Design of Apple Artificial Pollination Welfare Robot by A Survey for the Elders' Needs of Rural Region (농촌 고령자의 욕구조사를 통한 사과인공수분 복지로봇 설계)

  • This paper is the design for the welfare robot of apple artificial pollination by a survey for 25 elders' needs of Daegu-Gyeongbuk rural region. The results are summarized as follows. 1) In the apple farms of the region, most of farmers are the couples of 50 years thru 70 years to plant the apple trees only. The apple farm requires the senior farmers lots of painful works including their bone and muscle system problem to result in safety accidents. 2) For the aging progress of rural area, the senior farmers spend lots of labor hours and cost to do artificial pollination, a proper deletion of small fruits, and a speed spray, etc.. Most of them agree to the development of the welfare robot for an apple artificial pollination. 3) The survey results could be applied to the conceptual design in the users' point of view. Therefore, they are used as the important effects for the detail design and commercial design to develop the welfare robot for the rural seniors.

  • Children with autistic spectrum disorder(ASD) have a strength in visual process and systemizing, and they show interest toward things and machines. Therefore, robots have been suggested as a useful tool for the rehabilitation of the children with ASD. A robot can attract children's interest and attention, and it can provide simplified social stimulus. A robot can be applied repetitively, and programmed for the special needs of an individual child. In this study, we review literature related to the use of robots for the rehabilitation of children with ASD. For this purpose, related literature was searched with the keywords of autism and robot. We selected eleven domestic papers, and analyzed their contents to identify robots, stimulus of robots, experiment process and dependent variables.

Development of a Rehabilitation Robot for Mckenzie Cervical Exercise (경부 맥킨지 운동용 재활로봇의 개발)

  • In this paper a cervical rehabilitation robot for Mckenzie exercises to be effective to neck pain relief is proposed. The robot has two degrees of freedom (DOF) for Lateral flexion and extension, Dorsal and Vental flexion which enable user to perform cervical stretching and isometric exercises for neck muscles. The mechanical parts of the cervical rehabilitation robot can be mounted on a back- or head-rest of chair, and user can perform the Mckenzie exercise with seated. In experiments we measured the range of motion of cervical part, EMG signals from neck muscles and the contact forces of a head bracket fixing the head part of user, and then evaluated their performances. From the experimental results, we showed a feasibility of the cervical rehabilitation robot proposed in this study.

  • This paper reviews trends of the rehabilitation welfare devices on the basis of products and markets. Latest assistive devices tend to have a fold function. Auxiliary power assist module has been added. The completion of products has been improved. The folding function has strong relationship with portability. Specifically, various mobility devices, including foldable devices, are associated with enhanced portability. Powered auxiliary wheels and upper extremity supporting modules have entered the market. The leading-edge technology like Segway's control technology applies to two-wheel wheelchairs. The brand- new technology, lower extremity robotic exoskeleton, applies to markets. Standing wheelchairs, ramps, stair climbing assistive devices becomes more common. In addition, a combination of a variety of smart devices is being promoted to the classical assistive devices' part. Rehabilitation welfare devices can be more valuable due to nice industrial design, improved materials, and processing technology.

  • 최근 로봇산업은 첨단기술 분야의 복합체로 기술혁신성과 성장잠재력이 유망한 신산업으로 각광받고 있으며, IT, BT 및 NT 관련 요소들이 융합되어 구현되는 기술로써 파급효과가 크다고 할 수 있다. 또한, 사회구조와 생활패턴의 변화로 인해 생명 연장과 병 치료 및 건강에 대한 사회적 관심이 커지고 고령화에 따른 노인인구의 증가로 인해 의료분야에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 상황에서 보다 더 나은 의료서비스를 제공함으로써 삶의 질을 향상시키고 국민 복지 향상의 핵심적 역할을 수행할 수 있는 분야는 의료용 로봇산업이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 최근 정부에서 10대 신성장동력으로 관심을 가지고 있는 로봇산업과 의료기술을 접목한 의료용 로봇에 대한 시장현황과 전망을 통해 의료용 로봇시장의 활성화는 물론 의료시장의 확대방안을 마련하고자 하였다. 또한, 로봇산업에서 전문 서비스용 로봇으로써 의료용 로봇이 차지하는 위상과 기술 현황 및 적용사례를 통해 향후 차세대 신성장 동력으로써의 비전을 살펴보고 의료용 로봇 기술개발을 위한 유용한 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다.

  • In this paper we propose a wearable elbow rehabilitation robot applied the mirror therapy for elbow rehabilitation. To implement the mirror therapy, a data suit for measuring healthy elbow motion is developed. A powered elbow exoskeleton wearing in paralyzed arm is controlled by the measured data from the healthy elbow motion. In experiments, the elbow rehabilitation exercise by the mirror therapy is performed. From the experimental results we show the wearable exercise robot including the data suit is applicable to the mirror therapy for elbow rehabilitation.
