Road Sign Tracking using Affine-AR Model and Robust Statistics (어파인-자기 회귀 모델과 강인 통계를 사용한 교통 표지판 추적)

  • This paper describes the vision-based system to track road signs from within a moving vehicle. The proposed system has the standard architecture with particle filter due to its robust tracking performance in complex environment. In the case of tracking road signs in real environment, it has a great difficulty in predicting time series data by reason of an occlusion due to an obstacle and the rapid change of objects on roads. To overcome this problem and improve the tracking performance, this paper proposes the algorithm using an autoregressive model as an state transition model which has affine parameters as states and using robust statistics for determining occlusion due to obstacles. The experiments of this paper show that the proposed method is efficient for real time tracking of road signs and performs well in road signs under occlusion due to obstacles.

Agent-based Service Composition in Multi-party Collaboration Environments (다자간 협업 환경에서 에이전트 기반 서비스 합성)

  • To support advanced collaboration among knowledge workers distributed geographically, there have been extensive researches under the scope of ubiquitous computing environments. Especially, to cope with several known problems in traditional room-based collaboration environments such as uncomfortable sharing of visuals and documents and difficult operation of collaboration tools, several conceptual frameworks are designed and prototyped. Focusing on practical and interactive collaboration with remote nodes, in this paper, we conceptually design an agent-based service composition model for multi-party collaboration environments. The proposed model is designed to automatically discover and combine services to achieve given tasks in a collaboration environment by using high-level user commands (without the knowledge of internal architecture). Based on the service composition model, we develop a multi-agent-based management toolkit for multi-party collaboration environments. It provides easy-to-use GUI to operate various services in an environment and perform service composition algorithm to discover appropriate services and combine them. To explore the possibility of the toolkit we implement collaboration services to support video conference by using the toolkit.

  • 최근 전 세계적으로 GIS (Geographic Information Science) 및 RS (Remote Sensing) 데이터 등 디지털정보의 구축이 급속도로 진행되고 있고, 이들의 발달로 유역에 대한 정확하고 상세한 각종 수문매개변수 수집이 가능하여 유역을 부분유역으로 분할한 기존의 집중형 수문모형보다 유역내의 공간적인 유량변동을 보다 상세하게 고려할 수 있는 격자기반의 분포형 수문모형의 활용도가 높아지고 있다. 유역의 수문특성 및 지형특성을 동일한 매개변수로 적용하기 때문에 유역의 공간적인 수문 및 지형특성을 표현하기 어려운 집중형 모형과 달리 강우-유출해석에 있어서 분포형 모형은 실제 복잡한 유역에서의 유출과정 또는 물질의 수문순환과정을 잘 이해할 수 있고, 어떤 유역의 토지이용형태의 변화가 초래하는 영향과 효과를 사전에 예측할 수 있으며, 신뢰성 있는 과거의 수문자료가 없거나 부족한 유역에서의 유출 계산이 용이하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Fortran 90을 개발언어로 사용하여 GIS Data와 위성영상을 활용해 유출량을 모의하는 분포형 물수지 유출 모형을 개발하여 금강 상류유역인 용담댐 유역($930km^2$)을 대항으로 2000~2008년의 일 유출량을 모의하였다. 모형은 크게 3개의 모듈(유출량, 증발산량, 토양수분) 형태로 구성되었으며, 유출량은 강우 전 토양의 저류능을 추적하여 산정하였다. 모형의 결과는 셀별 값을 가지는 분포형으로 출력되며, 유역의 평균 수문자료가 Text file로 출력된다. 민감도 분석을 통하여 최적의 유출 관련 매개 변수를 선정하고 하류의 댐 유입량 자료를 바탕으로 모형의 보정(2001-2004) 및 검증(2005-2008)을 실시하였다. 유출량에 대한 Nash-Sutcliffe 모형효율은 0.78~0.93로 모의치가 실측치의 경향을 잘 표현하는 것으로 나타났다. 유출량 분포도는 강우량을 매우 잘 반영하였으며, 같은 강우조건하에서 토양의 배수조건에 따라 유출이 확연히 다르게 표현되었다.

Analysis of Correlation between Geometry Elements for the Efficient Use of Satellite Stereo Images (효율적인 스테레오 위성자료 활용을 위한 기하요소 간 상관성 분석)

  • This paper proposes the results of analysis of correlation between satellite geometry elements for an effective use of satellite images. To achieve accurate positional information, stereo images have normal range of convergence and BIE (BIsector Elevation) angles which are greatly influenced by azimuth and elevation angle of individual image. In this paper, the variations of convergence and BIE angles are estimated according to azimuth angle differences between two images and each elevation angle. The analysis provided strong support for predicting stereo geometry without complex analysis of epiploar geometry or mathematics. The experiment results showed that more than 150°, 130°, and 100° azimuth angle differences need to be constructed when elevation angle of two images is 50°, 60°, and 70°, respectively, in order to make the convergence and BIE angle within normal range. The results are expected to be fully used for various application using stereo images.

A Filter Synthesis Method without Bandwidth Reduction for Dual-Band Filters Based on Coupled Lines (결합 선로 이중 대역 필터의 대역폭이 줄지 않는 설계 방법)

  • This paper proposes an improved filter synthesis method for dual-band filters based on coupled lines loaded with shunt stubs. The conventional design method relies on equality of the response of the conventional single-band filter and its dual-band counterpart at two frequencies. On the other hand, the proposed method is based on equivalence of the propagation constants and the image impedances of the two filters. Therefore, the proposed method does not suffer from bandwidth reduction phenomena, which requires complex compensating process in the conventional method. Also, the alternative design parameters provided by the demonstrated method enable to construct dual-band filters with more flexibility. For experimental verification, a Chebyshev type dual-band filter with center frequencies at 1 GHz and 3.5 GHz is designed and fabricated. The measured results are in excellent agreement with the full-wave simulated results.

Image Mosaic from a Video Sequence using Block Matching Method (블록매칭을 이용한 비디오 시퀀스의 이미지 모자익)

  • In these days, image mosaic is getting interest in the field of advertisement, tourism, game, medical imaging, and so on with the development of internet technology and the performance of personal computers. The main problem of mage mosaic is searching corresponding points correctly in the overlapped area between images. However, previous methods requires a lot of CPU times and data processing for finding corresponding points. And they need repeated recording with a revolution of 360 degree around objects or background. This paper presents a new image mosaic method which generates a panorama image from a video sequence recorded by a general video camera. Our method finds the corresponding points between two successive images by using a new direction oriented 3­step block matching methods. Experimental results show that the suggested method is more efficient than the methods based on existing block matching algorithm, such as full search and K­step search algorithm.

  • DVC (Distributed Video Coding) allows us to explore the video statistics at the decoder side, resulting in a less complex encoder and more complex decoder. In this approach, it is important to generate a good prediction to the current Wyner-Ziv frame, called side information, which plays a crucial role in the overall performance of a DVC system. Conventional MCFI (motion compensated frame interpolation) techniques, which explore temporal correlations between neighbor frames of the current frame, preform the block-based or object-based motion estimation, but, they do not include the basis frame for the Wyner-Ziv frame. This paper proposes an efficient way to get better side information, by finding the average frame between neighbor frames and by comparing adaptively the candidate blocks. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed method can improve the performance up to 0.4dB and provide better subjective and objective visual qualities in Wyner-Ziv CODEC.

  • Around-View, the image processing device which increases the comfort of drivers is sold in the market. This system prevents accidents in advance while driving or parking. The accidents are caused with their inexperienced driving or bad visibility. It is developed for driving convenience. However, it dosen't spread to the driver widely due to the problem of the high installation costs and complex installation process. First, expensive equipment second, difficult development environment and third, inconvenient installation procedure. So the drivers don't have many opportunities to use this system and dare to develop this system. I think if one of the problems can be solved, users might be able to access this system at low cost. In this paper, the AVM(Around-View Monitoring) minimizes two of them. Expensive equipment, inconvenient installation. The costly problems were solved by using low-cost USB device and rear cameras. In view of inconvenient installation process, the new system was designed to make it easy for people to install it. Through this, it can ease the burden of consumers.

A New Focus Measure Method Based on Mathematical Morphology for 3D Shape Recovery (3차원 형상 복원을 위한 수학적 모폴로지 기반의 초점 측도 기법)

  • Shape from focus (SFF) is a technique used to reconstruct 3D shape of objects from a sequence of images obtained at different focus settings of the lens. In this paper, a new shape from focus method for 3D reconstruction of microscopic objects is described, which is based on gradient operator in Mathematical Morphology. Conventionally, in SFF methods, a single focus measure is used for measuring the focus quality. Due to the complex shape and texture of microscopic objects, single measure based operators are not sufficient, so we propose morphological operators with multi-structuring elements for computing the focus values. Finally, an optimal focus measure is obtained by combining the response of all focus measures. The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm has provided more accurate depth maps than the existing methods in terms of three-dimensional shape recovery.

  • Nowadays, laserthermia is widely used to treat malignant tumors with generating heat as the one of minimal invasive surgeries. Generally, the laserthermia probe system consists of the fiber-optic laser and light guides, image guide and temperature sensor. It is very important to measure the temperature of treating tumor and make a stable temperature ($42{\sim}43^{\circ}C$) during the treating time. Therefore, laserthermia probe needs temperature sensor which can measure it exactly and fast. In this study, to develop a new type of temperature sensor with LC(liquid crystal) and optical fiber, the reflectivity of LC according to the temperature changes are measured. Also, the relationships are derived from the results.
