Fabrication and Properties of Piezoelectric Microcantilever for Gas Sensor Application (가스 센서 응용을 위한 압전 마이크로 칸티레버의 제작 및 특성)

  • 본 연구에서는 대기 중 극 미량으로 존재하는 환경 유해 가스 성분을 검출할 수 있는 미세 소자로의 응용을 위해 마이크로 칸티레버를 제작하고 가스 센서로의 활용 가능성을 검토하였다. 마이크로 칸티레버는 크게 구동층 캐패시터로서 대표적인 압전 재료인 Pb(Zr,Ti)O$_3$ (PZT)를 사용하고 SiNx 박막을 지지층으로 하는 형태로 제작되었다. 제작된 마이크로 칸티레버는 치수 및 형상에 따라 17~29 KHz 의 기본 공진 주파수 값을 나타내었다. Electron beam evaporator를 이용한 copper (Cu) 박막의 단계적인 증착을 통해 칸티 레버 표면에 질량을 증가시키고 그에 따른 마이크로 칸티레버의 공진주파수 변화를 관찰한 결과 질량 증가에 대해 34 Hz/ng의 선형적인 주파수 감소를 나타내었으며, 이로부터 694.4 $\textrm{cm}^2$/g 의 gravimetric sensitivity factor를 얼을 수 있었다. 마이크로칸티레버의 가스 감지능력 시험을 위해 가스 흡착층으로 일차 알콜류의 vapor를 흡착 하는 것으로 보고된 poly methyl metacrytate (PMMA)를 마이크로 칸티레버 표면에 코팅하였다. 마이크로칸티 레버의 기본 공진 주파수 및 PMMA 흡착층 형성과 가스의 흡착에 따른 주파수 변화는 마이크로 칸티 레버로부터 의 전기적 신호를 이용하는 복소 임피던스 분석에 의해 측정되었다. PMMA가 코팅된 마이크로 칸티레버는 ethanol 및 methanol vapor 의 농도가 증가함에 따라 선형적인 공진주파수 감소를 나타내었으며, methanol vapor 의 경우 0.06 Hz/ppm 의 가스 검출 감도를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In order to compute the forces which are transmitted through rubber bushings with a commercial multibody dynamic analysis (MBDA) program, a rubber bushing model is needed. The rubber bushing model of MBDA programs such as DADS or ADAMS is the Voigt model which is simply a parallel spring-viscous damper system, meaning that the damping force of the Voigt model is proportional to the frequency. However, experiments do not necessarily support this proportionality. Alternatively, the viscoelastic characteristics of rubber bushings can be better represented by the complex stiffness. The purpose of this paper is to develop a viscoelastic rubber bushing model for the MBDA programs. Firstly, a methodology is proposed to calculate the complex stiffness of rubber bushings considering static and dynamic load conditions. Secondly, a viscoelastic rubber bushing model developed which uses standard elements provided by DADS. The proposed methods are applied to the rubber bushings of the lower control arms of a rear suspension of a 1994 Ford Taurus model. Then, the forces computed for the rubber bushing model are analyzed and compared with the Voigt model in time and frequency domains.

Modelling of Rayleigh and Rician Mobile Fading Channel (Rayleigh 및 Rician 페이딩 이동 채널 모델링)

  • In this paper, the performance of simulation model in mobile to mobile Rayleigh and Rician fading channel is analyzed and simulation results are compared. The auto-correlation and cross-correlation functions of Rayleigh fading channels not only based on received signals of Clarke's fading model and but also based on received signals of phase shifted Clarke's fading model are derived and their simulation results are found. The two models are also applied to mobile to mobile Rician fading channel models and their numerical results of auto-correlation functions of complex envelop received signals shows the statistical properties match the theoretical values very well and rapidly converge with the small number such as N=8.

  • It is impossible to provide full diversity and full rate simultaneously using more than two transmit antennas in transmit diversity system. To do this, simple interference cancellation scheme and transmit power allocation scheme have been proposed, recently. But the former has increased noise power and the latter has increased interference which is induced by other channel in fading channel. In this paper, we propose an adaptive transmit power allocation algorithm to minimize the estimation error in the channel environments which have different fading levels each other and to improve the system performance.

  • The mathematical models for the receptive field of simple cells in the human visual system have been developed in the areas of psychophysics, physiology and neuroscience. The various models used in the fields of digital image processing and computer vision include Gator complex, Gaussian derivatives and Hermite functions. In this paper, the effective widths for the models are derived based on the space-frequency uncertainty principle. The center frequency and parameters related to the models are determined in accordance with the human visual filters, and resultant bandwidths are analyzed. Furthermore, the characteristics of space and frequency for the models is analyzed and compared to the experimental data obtained from psychophysics.

  • In array signal processing, high order statistics can be used to estimate parameters from signal of sums of complex exponential. In this paper, we derive two types of direction finding algorithms which use the fourth-order cumulant and moment of the received array data. Since the fourth order cumulant can suppress the Gaussian noise, the response of MPM has better noise immunity than the conventional approaches. The performance of each method in regard to the probability of resolution and SNR in the presence of the Gaussian noise is investigated. As a result, the proposed method applied to the fourth-order statistic can find DOA more correctly in the presence of the Gaussian noise.

A Study on the Design of Cross-Polarization Interference Canceler for Digital Radio Relay System with Co-Channel Dual Polarization (동일 채널 이중편파를 적용하는 디지털 무선 중계장치의 직교편파간섭제거기 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, to counteract a cross-polarization interference caused by co-channel dual polarization technique of digital radio relay system(DRRS), we analyze the theoretical model and digital design of cross-polarization interference canceller(XPIC). In addition a complex adaptive time domain equalizer(ATDE) is designed using a finite impulse response filter, and the structure of XPIC and its control method are also illustrated including ATDE. Our computer simulation shows that about 25 dB signature and more than 23 dB XPIC improvement factor can be obtained with XPIC and ATDE. In order to verify the operation of designed XPIC, we review the simulated results in view of tap number, algorithm convergence, system signature, and XPlC improvement factor in connection with 64-QAM DRRS with co-channel dual polarization.

A Free-Space Method for Measurement and Analysis of Dielectric Characteristics of Electromagnetic Absorbing Materials at Microwave Frequencies (자유공간 기법을 적응한 마이크로파 대역 전파흡수재의 유전 특성 분석)

  • For measurements and analysis of dielectric characteristics of planar slabs of microwave absorbing materials, I have applied a free-space method in the frequency range of 8~14 GHz. The measurement system for free-space method consists of transmit and receive antennas, mode transitions, precision coaxal cables, the network analyzer, and a computer Special Spot-focused horn lens antenna was used to eliminate diffraction effects. Diffraction effects at the edges of the sample are minimized by satisfying the condition for minimum transverse dimension of the plate and the beamwidth of the antennas at the focus. The time-domain gating feature of the network analyzer and the thru, reflect, and line(TRL) calibration technique were used to eliminate the effects of undesirable multiple reflections. The complex coefficients of reflection and transmission, $S_{11}$ and $S_{21}$, of planar samples were measured for standard materials such as Teflon, Rexolite$\textregistered$ 2200. The results were compared with existing measurement method. And I applied a free-space method for measurement to measure dielectric constants of some electromagnetic absorbing materials. Dielectric properties for the same samples were also measured with a 7mm coxial transmission line method for purposes of comparison with the free-space method.

Direction-of-Arrival Estimation of Speech Signals Based on MUSIC and Reverberation Component Reduction (MUSIC 및 반향 성분 제거 기법을 이용한 음성신호의 입사각 추정)

  • In this paper, we propose a method to improve the performance of the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of a speech source using a multiple signal classification (MUSIC)-based algorithm. Basically, the proposed algorithm utilizes a complex coefficient band pass filter to generate the narrow band signals for signal analysis. Also, reverberation component reduction and quadratic function-based response approximation in MUSIC spatial spectrum are utilized to improve the accuracy of DOA estimation. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the well-known generalized cross-correlation (GCC)-based DOA estimation algorithm in the aspect of the estimation error and success rate, respectively.Abstract should be placed here. Analysis of Unstable Vibration Modes due to KTX Brake Disc/Pad Interaction (KTX 제동디스크-패드의 상호작용에 의한 불안정 진동모드 해석)

  • According to the measured results of KTX brake squeal noise in this study, high level brake noise occurred in a wide frequency range, 100~18,000Hz. To identify the sources of the brake squeal noise, unstable vibration modes due to brake disc/pad interaction were analyzed under various conditions by the finite element method. Complex eigenvalues for a brake unit with a disc and four pads were obtained. It was found that the real parts of the complex eigenvalues, that is, unstable vibration modes, were closely related to friction coefficients, pressure on the brake cylinders, elastic moduli of the components, and other conditions.
