  • Spectral wave models are applied to the area of Kyung-gi bay with two different combinations. One combination assumes a constant tidal elevation over the whole region when applying the wave model to the area. In this case no tidal currents exist in any place. The other combination employs tide model as well as wave model so that tidal condition is defined at every computation time when wave modelling is carried out. Significant wave heights and wave directions are shown for these two cases. With these two different constraints of tidal variation, the results are checked and compared with each other. Both results are found significantly different from each other.

  • Longshore currents driven by monochromatic waves have been described using 2-equation $textsc{k}$-ι turbulence transport model. When using $textsc{k}$-ι closure both profiles of eddy viscosity and current velocity are found to be satisfactory. Several terms of ι equation are related to various variables concerned with turbulence mechanism. New form of turbulence frequency used in ι equation is suggested in the present approach, and non-dimensional parameters are evaluated by comparing the computational results with the laboratory measurements. Various values of a large range are applied to the non-dimensional parameters for the sensitivity test and in order to improve the predictability common values of constants are deduced, which produce similarly good computational results for the well-controlled laboratory measurements.

  • For one-dimensional two-phase flow without phase change and without axially-temporally rapid change of pressure, the interrelationship between the drift-flux model and the two-fluid model is studied. It is derived on the basis of the fact that the vapor conservation equation is related to the momentum equation by the drift flux. Starting from the two-fluid model, we obtain the interfacial friction expressed in terms of drift-flux parameter. Also, by deriving the void propagation equation, the drift-flux is shown to have jnterrelationship with forces in the two-fluid model.

  • A simple numerical refraction model is presented. The model takes into account refraction, shoaling and bottom dissipation. Eikonal equation and equation of energy conservation are discretized by an explicit finite-difference method, which provides wave angle and height at each grid point, respectively. Applications of the model were made to simple geometries as well as complex geometries, and some advantages on computing time and stability have been observed.

  • This study derives a generalized PSD formula in the LTV phase noise theory for noisy oscillators. The derived formula analytically proves that the LTV phase noise theory can predict the conservation of the power in the noisy oscillation signals. Additionally, the derived formula allows the theory to account for the behavior of the power spectrum over the entire frequency range including the regions around higher harmonics as well as fundamental frequency.

  • A numerical model for the transformation of irregular waves in a coastal area is developed, which takes account of shoaling, refraction, diffraction, bottom friction and wave breaking. The governing equations are the usual energy conservation equation and kinematic conservation equations, but to consider the diffraction effects additional terms are included in the usual kinematic conservation or wave number equations. A linear superposition technique is used to represent the spectral formation. and an explicit formula is developed for the estimation of friction factor of irregular waves. A breaking criterion of component waves, which is the modified form of the Kitaigorodskii saturation relation, is employed to restrict the growth of shoaling waves in very shallow waters. The model was applied to a laboratory test and satisfactory agreement was obtained between the computation and measurement.
