  • This study evaluated the flexural properties and fire resistance of polyolefm based structural synthetic fiber reinforced concrete. The effects of differing fiber length, dimension and fiber volume fraction were studied. Flexural and fire resistance test were conducted in accordance with the JCI SF-4 and RABT time heating temperature curve, respectively. The Flexural test results indicated that the polyolefln based structural fiber reinforcement showed an ability to increase the flexural toughness and good fire resistance significantly(as compared to steel fiber reinforcement).

  • This study was performed to evaluate permeable properties of eco-concrete using soil, natural coarse aggregate, soil compound and polypropylene fiber. The fIexural strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity and dynamic modulus of elasticity were increased with increasing the content of coarse aggregate, soil compound and polypropylene fiber. The flexural strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity and dynamic modulus of elasticity were 259 MPa, 3,527 m/s and 275 ${\times}$ 102 MPa at the curing age of 28 days, respectively. The coefficient of permeability was decreased with increasing the content of coarse aggregate and soil compound, but it was increased with increasing the content of polypropylene fiber. Accordingly, this concrete can be used for farm road.

  • In this study, The fatigue properties of the GFRP composite panels of which core was made of the polymer mortar and both facings were reinforced by the high-tensile GFRP were surveyed. Composite-panel specimens consisted of polymer mortar core and GFRP compressive and tensile sides with various thickness were produced for an experimental study. Flexural fatigue tests were conducted to examine the correlation between the fatigue load and the fatigue life for various thickness of core and facings, and its results are presented. The correlation obtained in this study between the fatigue load and the fatigue life for various thickness arc in good agreement with the modified Miner's law.

  • In this study, twelve different glass fiber reinforced polymer concrete composite panel specimens with various rib heights and tensile side and reinforced side thickness were produced, and the flexural tests were conducted to figure out the effect of The height and thickness influencing on the flexural properties of composite panel. Test results of the study are presented. Especially, a prediction equation of the ultimate moment based on the strength design method agrees well with the test results, and it is thought to be useful for the corresponding design of cross-section according to various spans as the glass fiber reinforced polymer concrete composite panel is applied for a permanent mold.

  • Basalt originates from volcanic magma and flood volcanoes, a very hot fluid or semifluid material under the earth's crust, solidified in the open air. Basalt is a common term used for a variety of volcanic rocks, which are gray, dark in colour, formed from the molten lava after solidification. Recently, attention has been devoted to continuous basalt fibers (CBF) whose primary advantage consists in their low cost, good resistance to acids and solvents, and good thermal stability. In order to investigate reinforcement effect, this paper did FEM analysis with shell element. The result were as follows; BCF deck plate did elastic behavior to 450 kN, reinforcement effect of basalt fiber (BF) was less. But BCF's perpendicular deflection occurred little about 23 mm comparing with RC deck plate in load 627 kN. Stiffness was very improved by basalt fiber reinforcement.

  • A series of resonant column test was performed to investigate the dynamic deformation characteristics of silty sand soils mixed with polypropylene fibrillated type fiber. Results show that optimum mixing ratios were $0.2\%$ for 19mm of cut fiber for shear modulus and $0.1\%$ for 60mm cut fiber fur damping ratio. As shear strain was increased, normalized values of shear modulus (G(Reinforced)/ G(Unreinforced)) of fiber reinforced soil were increased up to $10^{-3}\%\~10^{-1}\%$ ranges. However, normalized damping ratio (D(Reinforced/D(Unreinforced)) was diminished with an increase in strain beyond $10^{-3}\%\~10^{-1}\%$ for the damping capacity of soils mixed with fiber. Normalized shear modulus $(G/G_{max})$ obtained from the test was plotted in the chart suggested by Seed and Idriss. The shear modulus of silty sand was located between sand and gravel curves.

  • There appeared many difficulties due to various construction factors during the recent construction adjacent to the housing for the aging. In particular, the study is going to summarize and overview the selection procedure and construction details of the excavation engineering of this site, which could ensure workability and economic efficiency through the construction of a shorter anchor than the length of the existing anchor with a minimal marginal space without invading the nearby private land.

  • To investigate the flexural behavior of real size RC beams strengthened with glass fiber sheets, 9 strengthened beams of real size are experimented and the results are compared with those of existing experimental studies. Experiments are considered glass fiber sheets, the number of fiber sheets, and the existence of U-wrap. By the results of experiments, the failure behavior and crack types of real size RC beams are almost equal to those of the small size RC beams, and the debonding and not the concrete cover delamination are occurred. It can be found from the load-deflection curves that as the number of fiber sheets is increased, the ductility of real size RC beam is more decreased than that of the small size RC beam. For the strengthening method with glass fiber sheets of the real size RC beams, it can be confirmed that the finding a solution to the bonding problem is required

  • Construction of high-speed concrete track embankments over soft ground needs many of the ground improvement techniques. Drains, surcharge loading, and geosynthetic reinforcement, have all been used to solve the settlement and embankment stability issues associated with construction on soft soils. However, when time constraints are critical to the success of the project, another measures should be considered. Especially, since the design criteria of residual settlement is limited as 30mm for concrete track embankment, it is very difficult to satisfy this allowable settlement by using the former construction method. Pile net method consist of vertical columns that are designed to transfer the load of the embankment through the soft compressible soil layer to a firm foundation and one or more layers of geosynthetic reinforcement placed between the top of the columns and the bottom of the embankment. In this paper, three cases with different embankment height and number of geosynthetic reinforcement, were studied through FEM analysis for efficient use of pile net method.

  • This study is investigate the bending behavior of real size RC beams strengthened with carbon fiber sheets. For experimental study, 1 control beam and 8 strengthened beams of real size(4 NU-beams and 4 U-beams) are tested and compared. NU-beam has not a V-shaped band and V-beam has a V-shaped band. The variables of experiment are composed of the number of carbon fiber sheets, the existence of U-shaped band, and four point loading, etc. The experimental results showed that the strengthening system with U-shaped band controls the premature debonding and provides a more ductile failure mode than the strengthening system without V-shaped band. It can be found from the load-deflection curves that as the number of fiber sheets is increased, the maximum strength and the flexural rigidity is increased. For the strengthening method with carbon fiber sheets of the real size RC beams, it is required the finding a solution to the bonding problem.
