Buckling Behavior of Plates Stiffened with the New Type Ribs (새로운 형태의 리브를 갖는 보강판의 좌굴거동)

  • In this study, the parametric analysis for the buckling behavior of plates stiffened with the new type(${\Box}$ type) ribs was performed. Changes of the buckling capacity according to dimensions of ${\Box}$ type ribs show certain behaviors, so that the system to find the section of ${\Box}$ type ribs under the specific buckling capacity can be proposed. Applying this system to the steel deck of existing bridges, more economic sections of ${\Box}$ type ribs rather than that of closed ribs can be obtained. Therefore, the economic section of steel deck having the required buckling capacity can be designed by using the proposed system of ${\Box}$ type ribs.

  • The aim of the present study is to derive an empirical formula relating the absorbed energy and the cutting length for longitudinally stiffened steel palates which are cut by a wedge, idealizing the ship bottom stiffened platings in groundings. This study is based on the test results and the investigations of some parameters affecting the cutting response, described in Part I. By dimensionless ana1ysis of the test results obtained in a quasi-static loading condition, the energy absorbed while a longitudinally stiffened plate is cut by a wedge is expressed as functions of the cutting length, the yield stress, the equivalent plate thickness and the wedge angle. Also, the dynamic effects are incorporated into the static formula such that the proposed formula can be applied to the impact loading situations. The validity of the proposed formula is checked by comparing with the results obtained by the other existing formulas or by the drop-hammer tests.

  • In this paper, the behaviors of reinforced earth retaining walls according to material properties of reinforcement were performed through the centrifuge model tests. Skin element was used flexible aluminum plate in the process of tests. And reinforcements were used with aluminum foil strips and non -woven polyester sheets. As a result of it, model retaining wall utilizing non-woven polyester sheets than aluminum foil strips was supported at high stress level, and maximum horizontal displacement value of skin element was 0.6H height at model walls. In the other hand, coefficient relation diagram for evaluation of horizontal displacement according to skin element location was proposed using test results.

  • In this study, the assumed mode method using characteristic polynomials of Timoshenko beam is applied to the free vibration analysis for the stiffened plate of ship tank side in contact with water. The hydro-elastic effect of the fluid-structure interaction is considered by fluid velocity potential, derived from boundary conditions for fluid and structure, and utilized in the calculation of added mass matrix using assumed modes. To verify the validity and effectiveness of the presented method, free vibration analysis for the stiffened plates in contact with finite and infinite fluids have been carried out and its results were compared with those obtained by a general purpose FEA software.

  • In order to assess the validity of fatigue crack arrest design charts obtained from our previous numerical approach to fatigue crack arrest condition, an extensive fatigue crack growth/arrest test was performed using CT-type integrally stiffened panels. The results are presented as fatigue crack growth rate and non-dimensional crack length relationship, and these are compared with numerically simulated crack growth rates. The measured values of da/dN at the moment of fatigue crack arrest occurred in stiffened panels are good agreement with those numerically simulated crack growth rates.

  • 압축을 받는 판 구조의 경제적인 단면 보강을 위해 종방향 보강재인 U형 단면 리브를 적용하는 것이 효과적이나, 현재 국내에서는 명확한 설계지침이나 연구자료가 제시되지 못하고 있다. 따라서 U리브의 적정 크기 및 최적 간격에 대해 검토 후 이에 관한 지침이 제시될 필요성이 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 U리브의 단면 크기 및 강성에 따른 탄성좌굴강도 및 좌굴모드의 변화를 알아보고자 한다. 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ABAQUS를 이용하여 고유치 해석을 실시하였고, 이론값과 해석적 결과의 탄성좌굴강도를 비교하였다. 이러한 분석 결과를 토대로 향후 U리브의 최소소요강성 및 단면 선정방안을 제시하는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Numerical Analysis on the Affection of Lumped Attachments to the Vibration Power Flow in Cross-stiffened Plate (집중 부가물이 보강판의 진동파워 흐름에 미치는 영향에 대한 수치 해석적 고찰)

  • To investigate the affection of lumped mass and spring on the vibration power flow of cross-stiffened plate experiencing bending vibration, structural intensity analysis is done using the modal analysis based on assumed mode method. The numerical analysis is carried out varying the mass and spring constant and their attached positions. The results show that both the spring and the mass may cause to large variation of not only vibratory displacement but also vibratory power flow patterns in case of little change of natural frequencies, and the attachments near to excitation location can effectively reduce the magnitude of maximum structural intensity.

  • The stress intensity factor has been calculated for the cracked plate subjected to remote normal stress and reinforced with a plate by symmetric spot welding. The solution was based on displacement compatibility condition between the cracked sheet and the reinforcement plate. It is shown that the results from the derived equation for stress intensity factor were agreed with previous solutions. The reinforcement effect gets better as a joining spot is closer to the crack tip and the other joining spots become nearer to the crack surface.

  • The purpose of a fatigue crack arrest design is to prevent a fatigue fracture of machine and structure resulted from unstable crack growth. In all cases of load transfer to second elements such as stringers, doublers or flanges, crack arrest is possible; arrest occurring when the fatigue crack reaches the second element. In the present work, a numerical analysis was carried out to estimate the effect of shape parameters on fatigue crack growth and arrest behavior of integrally stiffened panels. Based on these results, a set of fatigue crack arrest design chart is presented as "non-dimensional arrest load - thickness ratio" relationship.

  • Many of steel structures having little internal damping consist of stiffened plates. In case that viscoelastic materials are adhered to the stiffened plates for the reduction of structure-borne noise, their effects are varied by the adhered position and dynamic characteristics of the structures as well as their material properties and adhered amount. In this paper, sound reduction effects of viscoelastic materials partially adhered to the different positions of a stiffened steel plate have been investigated by the measurement of vibratory velocity and sound intensity. The results show that optimal adherent positions of viscoelastic materials to reduce sound radiation power are the loop areas of modes.
