The development of joint FE models for deep learning neural network (DLNN)-based hybrid FEA is presented. Material models of bolts and bearings in the front axle of tractor, showing complex behavior induced by various tightening conditions, were replaced with DLNN models. Bolts are modeled as one-dimensional Timoshenko beam elements with six degrees of freedom, and bearings as three-dimensional solid elements. Stress-strain data were extracted from all elements after finite element analysis subjected to various load conditions, and DLNN for bolts and bearing were trained with Tensorflow. The DLNN-based joint models were implemented in the ABAQUS user subroutines where stresses from the next increment are updated and the algorithmic tangent stiffness matrix is calculated. Generalization of the trained DLNN in the FE model was verified by subjecting it to a new loading condition. Finally, the DLNN-based FEA for the front axle of the tractor was conducted and the feasibility was verified by comparing with results of a static structural experiment of the actual tractor.

This paper deals with the numerical determination of the stress intensity factors of cracked aluminum plates under the mixed mode of $K_I$ and $K_{II}$ in glass-epoxy fiber reinforced composites. For the stress intensity factors, two different models are reviewed such as VCCT and two-step extension method. The p-convergent partial layerwise model is adopted to determine the fracture parameters in terms of energy release rates and stress intensity factors. The p-convergent approach is based on the concept of subparametric element. In assumed displacement field, strain-displacement relations and 3-D constitutive equations of a layer are obtained by combination of 2-D and 1-D higher-order shape functions. In the elements, Lobatto shape functions and Gauss-Lobatto technique are employed to interpolate displacement fields and to implement numerical quadrature. Using the models and techniques considered, effects of composite laminate configuration according to inclined angles and adhesive properties on the performance of bonded composite patch are investigated. In addition to these, the out-of-plane bending effect has been investigated across the thickness of patch repaired laminate plates due to the change of neutral axis. The present model provides accuracy and simplicity in terms of stress intensity factors, stress distribution, number of degrees of freedom, and energy release rates as compared with previous works in literatures.

In this study, a method for determining Ramberg-Osgood constants for leak-before-break evaluation was investigated. The Ramberg-Osgood constants were calculated for SA312, TP316, and SA-508 Gr.1a in an operating temperature of $316^{\circ}C$. Incremental plasticity, using stress-strain data obtained from experiment, and deformation plasticity, using the Ramberg-Osgood constants, were considered in a finite element analysis. Using incremental plasticity and deformation plasticity, J-integrals and crack opening displacement values were calculated and compared. By comparing the results of incremental plasticity and deformation plasticity, a suitable method for determining Ramberg-Osgood constants for leak-before-break evaluation was confirmed.
This paper presents a model for evaluating the contribution by arch action to shear resistance in shear-critical reinforced concrete beams. Based on the relationship between shear and bending moment in beams subjected to combined shear and bending, the behavior of a beam is explicitly divided into two base components of the flexural action and the tied arch action. The compatibility condition of the shear deformation that deviates from Bernoulli bending plane is formulated utilizing the smeared truss idealization with an inclined compression chord. The Modified Compression Filed Theory is employed to calculate the shear deformation of the web, and the relative axial displacements of the compression and the tension chord by the shear flow are also calculated. From this shear compatibility condition in a beam, the shear contribution by the arch action is numerically decoupled. Then the validity of the model is examined by applying the model to some selected test beams in literatures. The results may confirm the rationale of the proposed behavioral model.
Finite element or difference methods are applied to the analysis of the tunnel stability and they provide detailed behaviour of analyzed tunnel sections but it is rather inefficient to analyze all the section of tunnel by using these methods. In this study, the authors suggest a new stability analysis method for whole tunnel to provide an efficient and easy way to understand the behaviour of whole tunnel by using an analytical solution with the assumption of equivalent circular tunnel. The mechanical behaviour, radial strain and plastic zone radius of whole tunnel were analyzed and appropriate support pressure to maintain the displacement within the allowable limit was suggested after the application of this method to the tunnel. Consequently, it was confirmed that this method can provide quick analysis of the whole tunnel stability and the quantitative information for subsequent measures such as selection of tunnel sections for detailed numerical analysis, set up of the monitoring plan, and so on.
Dynamic shear properties of Nak-Dong river sand were investigated to build a soil property database for Nak-Dong delta region. Samples were taken from the estuary and the midstream of the river. Laboratory specimens were prepared by air pluviation method, and were tested by using RC/TS apparatus at various confining stresses, relative densities and numbers of cycles. Shear modulus reduction and damping curves were developed using Ramberg-Osgood and Modified Hyperbolic Models. The developed curves, compared to those reported by other investigators, show only a slight difference. The outcome of this RC/TS experiments can be very important resources when accessing the dynamic response of sandy soils in Nak-Dong delta region in the future.
A volume integral equation method (VIEM) is introduced for the solution of elastostatic problems in an unbounded isotropic elastic solid containing multiple isotropic elliptical fibers of arbitrary orientation subject to uniform stress at infinity. The fibers are assumed to be long parallel elliptical cylinders composed of isotropic elastic material perfectly bonded to the isotropic matrix. The solid is assumed to be under plane strain on the plane normal to the cylinders. A detailed analysis of the stress field at the matrix-fiber interface for square and hexagonal packing of the fibers is carried out for different values of the number, orientation angles and concentration of the elliptical fibers. The accuracy and efficiency of the method are examined through comparison with results obtained from analytical and finite element methods.

When reinforcing strip footing on a sand 8round with reticulated root piles, reinforcing effect depends on the length , number, cross sectional area, penetration angle, spacing, and Young's modulus of piles. the mode of action of reinfocement tendons in soil isn't one of carring developed tensile stresses but of anisotropic(uni-directional) reduction or even supression of one normal strain rate. R. H. Bassett and N. C. Last proposed that the reinforcement should be located on the direction of minor strain rate which coincides with the tensile strain rate in the velocity characteristics. Based on this proposal the author carried out a series of 2 - dimentional finite element analysis which varies the parameters mentioned above.
The purpose of this study was to establish a numerical model of polyurethane foam (PUF) to simulate the dynamic response and strength of membrane-type Liquefied natural gas (LNG) Cargo containment system (CCS) under the impact load. To do this, initially, the visco-plastic behavior of PUF was characterized by testing the response of the PUF to the impact loads with various strain rates as well as PUF densities at room temperature and at cryogenic conditions. A PUF material model was established using the test results of the material and the FE analysis. To verify the validation of the established material model, simulations were performed for experimental applications, e.g., the dry drop test, and the results of FEA were compared to the experimental results. Based on this comparison, it was found that the dynamic response of PUF in dry drop tests, such as the reaction force and fracture behaviors, could be simulated successfully by the material model proposed in this study.

Present study is concerned with the simulation of plasticity models for the cyclic stressstrain behavior of aluminum alloy AC4C-T6 that can be used for primary materials of LNG cargo pump. Material model of cyclic hardening and plasticity for aluminum alloy AC4C-T6 was investigated through experiments and numerical simulations. Monotonic tensile and cyclic tension-compression test under symmetric load cycles was performed at both room temperature and cryogenic temperature of $-165^{\circ}C$. Based on the experimental data plastic hardening models were evaluated for isotropic/kinematic/combined hardening. FEA (Finite Element Analysis) models which describe the cyclic stress-strain relationship were evaluated for the simulation of plasticity. An appropriate hardening model is proposed comparing the results of FEA with those of experiments.
