Various half-ester acrylates were prepared from anhydrides and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate. Photocurable epoxy modified acrylates were prepared from synthesized half-ester acrylate and neopentylglycol diglycidylether. Physical properties such as hardness, yellowing, tensile strength and elongation were tested and compared as the structure of oligomer in cured-film differs. It was found that viscosity of neopentylglycol diglycidylether-hexahydrophthalic anhydride (NP-HA) was highest. Hardness and tensile strength of photocrosslinked neopentylglycol diglycidylether-hexahydrophthalic anhydride were better than those of other photocrosslinted epoxy acrylates. And 5% weight loss temperature of photocrosslinked neopentylglycol diglycidylether-hexahydrophthalic anhydride was higher than those of other photocrosslinked epoxy acrylates. Value of yellow index of photocrosslinked neopentylglycol diglycidyl ether-succinic anhydride (NP-SA) was lower than the other products.
Three isocyanatopropyldimethoxysilylpolydimethylsiloxanes(IDMSi-PDMS) were synthesised from the reaction of isocyanatopropyltrimethoxysilane with monohydroxyl group termainated PDMS having different molecular weight($M_n$=5000, 10000, and 20000). Then PDMS modified polyurethane hybrid elastomer(PSMPH) were prepared from the reaction of IDMSi-PDMS with ${\alpha}$, ${\omega}$-hydroxyl group terminated polyurethane. PSMPH sealant was prepared by compounding PSMPH elastomer with additives such as plasticizer, adhesion promoter, crosslinking agent, vicosity increasing agent, inorganic filler, and catalyst at room temperature under nitrogen atmosphere. The methoxy group in the PSMPH sealant should be crosslinked with the hydroxyl group in the building stone or moisture by typical sol-gel reaction. The adhesive strength of the sealant having PDMS of $M_n$=5000 showed 40.28 kg of maxium load and 20.14 kg of break load. The shrinkage rate of the sealant having PDMS of $M_n$=20000 was 5.7% as the best result. Also, their skin over time, slump, oil content after 8 days under oil soaked paper and alkaline resistance characteristics show good results.

Hydrocarbon resins, which are defined as low molecular weight, amorphous, and thermoplastic polymers, are widely used as tackifier for various types of adhesives, as processing aids in rubber compounds, and as modifiers for plastics polymers such as isotactic polypropylene. Typically, hydrocarbon resins are non-polar, and thus highly compatible with non-polar rubbers and polymer. However, they are poorly compatible with polar system, such as acrylic copolymer, polyurethanes, and polyamides. Moreover, recently the raw materials of hydrocarbon resin from naphtha cracking had been decreased because of light feed cracking such as gas cracking. To overcome this problem, in this study, novel hydrocarbon resins were designed to have a highly polar chemical structure which material is sustainable. And, it was successfully synthesized by Diels-Alder reaction of dicyclopentadiene monomer and sorbic acid from blueberry as renewable resources. Acrylic resins were formulated with various tackifiers solution including sorbic acid grafted hydrogenated dicyclopentadiene hydrocarbon resins in acrylic adhesive and rolling ball tack, loop tack, $180^{\circ}$ peel adhesion strength, and shear adhesion strength were measured. The properties depend on the softening point and polar content of tackifiers.

Amino terminated polyetherimide (AP-PEI) has been synthesized using 2,2'-bis [4-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)-phenyl]propane dianhydride (BPADA) and m-phenylenediamine. Polyetherimide containing pendant carboxy group (CP-PEI) has also been synthesized by the reaction of BPADA, m-phenylenediamine and 3,5-diaminobenzoic acid. The modified PEIs were used as toughening agent for diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A epoxy resin which was cured with nadic methyl anhydride (NMA). Thermal properties, fracture toughness ($K_{IC}$) and solvent resistance of toughened epoxy resin were measured. The $K_{IC}$ of epoxy resin containing 20 phr of AT-PEI was 2.88$MPa{\cdot}m^{0.5}$ without sacrificing thermal properties. The $K_{IC}$ of epoxy resin which contained 20 phr of CP-PEI was 2.82$MPa{\cdot}m^{0.5}$.
Polydimethylsiloxane branched HEMA (SH) was Prepared by reacting polydimethylsilorane prepolymer and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA). Polyacrylate modified Polyorganosiloxane (SMPA) was prepared by polymerization of methacrylic acid(MA), allyl glycidyl ether(AGE), aminopro- pyltrimethoxysilane (APTS), and SH. Their structures were confirmed by the measurement of FTIR and $^1H-NMR$ and thermal properties of SMPA were studied from TGA. Residual weight of SMPA at $400^{\circ}C$ increased according to increasing content of the APTS to 63 from 55%. SMPA sealant was prepared by adding additives, such as viscosity increasing agent, crosslinking agent, and fillers. Adhesion characteristics of SMPA-3 sealant was determined to be maximum load elongation, 2.01 %, and break load elongation, 2.28%. Adhesion characteristics for SMPA sealant prepared from SMPA-3 were better than those for SMPA sealant prepared from SMPA-1 and SMPA-2.

In this study, the caprolactone modified hydroxy acrylates (CHAs) were synthesized by ring-opening reaction of caprolactone and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA) as initiator. Also, the caprolactone modified urethane acrylate (UA) oligomers were synthesized by condensation reaction of previously synthesized CHAs, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA) and hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer (HDT). Using the hydroxy number of CHAs, the molecular weights of the CHAs were calculated easily and their molecular weight was similar to the theoretical molecular weight of them. The viscosity of UA oligomers decreased as increasing a content of CHA in the UA oligomer. Cure films were prepared from UA oligomer, reactive diluents, and UV initiator to investigate their physical properties. The thermal stability and color difference on high temperature for the cured film were improved as increasing the crosslinking density. Their surface hardness was also increased as increasing crosslinking density of the cured films, but their elongation at break was decreased.
Quaternary ammonium salt terminated silane was prepared from aminopropyldimethylethoxysilane with methyliodide and ionized 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane $(Li^+TCNQ^-)$ was prepared from TCNQ with methyliodide and lithium iodide. Quaternary ammonium salt silane-TCNQ adduct (ST) was prepared by reacting quaternary ammonium salt terminated silane with $Li^+TCNQ^-$ solution. Poly (dimethylsiloxane)-ST adduct (PST) was prepared by condensation of $\alpha,\omega-hydroxyl$ group terminated poly (dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) with ST. Maleated polyethylene modified with PDMS (PST-g-MPE) was prepared by melt polymerization of maleated PE and PST in internal mixer and PST-g-MPE/carbon black (CB) and MPE/CB composites were prepared by compounding PST with MPE and PST-g-MPE, respectively. The thermal and mechanical properties of the composites were measured and dispersion characteristics of CB in matrix rosins show that the dispersion of CB in PST-g-MPE/CB was better than that of MPE/CB composite.
Two-component polyurethane flame-retardant coatings were prepared by blending trichloro lactone modified polyesters (TAPTS) and isocyanate, Desmodur IL. Polycondensation reaction of trichlorobenzoic acid (TBA) as a flame-retardant component, and adipic acid with trimethylolpropane, polycaprolactone 0201, and 1,4-butanediol gave the corresponding TAPTs. The content of TBA was adjusted from 10 to 30 wt% in our experiment. It was found that various properties of these new flame-retardant coatings were comparable to other non-flame-retardant coatings. We also carried out three different tests for the measurement of flammability of flame -retardant coatings. The results of vertical burning test for the coatings containing more than 20 wt% of TBA were determined as 'no burn'. The results of flammability test for the coatings with 20 and 30 wt% of TBA contents indicated the limiting oxygen index (LOI) values of 25% and 27% respectively, which implied relatively good flame retardancy. They also showed the char length of 3.6-5.2 cm according to $45^{\circ}$ Meckel burner test, which can be classified as the first grade flame-retardant coatings.
${\alpha},{\omega}$-Hydroxypropyl polydimethylsiloxane (HO-PDMS) was prepared by hydrosilylation of hydrogen terminated polydimethylsiloxane with allyl alcohol. Polydimethylsiloxane modified urethane with isocyanate group (PSU) was prepared from cyclic trimer of hexamethylenediisocyanate with HO-PDMS. PDMS modified urethane base resin with acrylic group (PSUA) was prepared from the urethane reaction of PSU with isocyanate group and 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate. Their structures were characterized using FTIR and NMR. Coating materials were prepared by mixing PSUA, acrylic hardner, photo-initiator, and solvent and coated on PET film to obtain flexible and hard coating film by UV irradiation. Transparency of coating film was 89.7%, contact angle, $88^{\circ}$, and pencil hardness, 3H.
Polyorganosiloxane(HBPS) modified polyurethane (UMPS) was synthesized to improve weatherability in the polyurethane (ITPU) sealant and its rheological propoerty was investigated. It was found that the viscosity increased with increasing HBPS content in polyurethane and maximum viscosity was observed in UMPS having 70/30 ITPU/HBPS ratio. This was understood that the segregation of HBPS segment in UMPS chain has been developed. Further increasing of the content of HBPS resulted in the lowering of viscosity because of the flexibility of HBPS block segment in UMPS chain. It was also found that UMPS has more sensitive environmental dependency of viscosity than ITPU such as shear rate, humidity and temperature. In additions, UMPS having Si(O$CH_3$)$_3$ end group (TUMPS) by adding coupling agent up to 0.3 wt% resulted in the increase of viscosity by the acceleration of curing. But introducing more than 0.5wt% curing agent to TUMPS caused the lowering of viscosity because of less NCO group in TUMPS for the curing.
