New Balancing Method of a Flexible Rotor Without Trial Weights (彈性回轉體의 평형잡이에 관한 연구)

  • Steam turbines, gas turbines, multistage centrifugal compressors are operated over the range of the first critical speed. In these rotors flexible rotor balancing technique is necessary. In such balancing, influence coefficients are measured by rotating a rotor with trial weight. But for the large rotor, the measurement of influence coefficient takes much time and it reduces the cost efficiency. In this paper the new influence coefficient with rotation of rotor is proposed. First the theoretical background of the method is presented and it is applied to the simple flexible rotor model. Then the experiments are performed and the results of presented method are compared with those of analytical method. By using the obtained influence coefficient, balancing of the flexible rotor is performed.

  • 씨일의 표면마찰계수 특성이 씨일의 동특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 씨일내의 유속이 증가함에 따라서 마찰계수가 급상승하는 허니콤 씨일을 대상으로 이론적 해석을 하였다. 그 결과 마찰계수의 급상승 현상은 마찰계수의 급상승 현상이 없는 경우에 비하여 강성계수의 감소를 야기하고 회전축-베어링계의 불안정성과 관계가 있는 연성 강성계수의 큰 감소를 보였다. 또한 회전축-베어링계의 안정성을 도모하는 감쇠 계수의 증가를 야기함으로써 회전기계의 운전점이 마찰계수의 급상승 범위에 있다면 시스템의 안정성면에서 매우 유리할 것으로 사료된다. 마찰계수의 급상승 현상을 보이는 허니콤 씨일의 동특성에 대한 이론적 해석 결과, 강성계수는 매우 작게 예측되었으나 연성강성계수와 감쇠계수는 비교적 실험결과와 근사함을 보였다.

  • 액정은 합성에 의해서 만들어지는 고분자 화합물로서 액체와 고체결정의 중간적인 특성을 갖는 물질이다. 따라서 액체와 같이 점도를 갖고 유동하며 고체와 같이 외부하중에 대하여는 탄성변형을 하므로 일반 윤활유보다 월등한 윤활특성이 기대된다. 액정은 분자배열에 따라 smectics, cholesterics, Nematics의 세종류로 나뉘어지며 Smectics는 다시 Smectic A, Smectic C등으로 분류되며 관심대상은 Smectic A이다. 본 연구에서는 평판 슬라이더 베어링의 간극에 액정층이 형성되어있을때 액정의 탄성계수, 침투계수 및 벌어짐계수가 베어링부하, 액정층의 유동현상등에 미치는 영향을 비선형 유한 요소법을 사용하여 해석하고 레이놀즈 이론해와 비교하였다.

Base Isolation Performance of Friction Pendulum System using Magnetic Force (자력을 이용한 마찰진자 베어링의 면진성능)

  • One of the most recent base-isolation systems to improve the earthquake resistance of structures is the Friction Pendulum System(FPS). Simple in design but with versatile properties, the FPS has been used in some of the world s largest seismically isolated buildings, bridges and chemical tanks. FPS using PTFE(Polytetrafl-uoroethylene) based material has been developed to provide a simple and effective way for structures to achieve earthquake resistance. PTFE materials are soft, and are apt to become deformed easily after a few working cycles. In this study, magnetic force is used rather than the usual PTFE materials to improve the material shortcomings. A MF-FPS(Magnetic force-Friction Pendulum System) is proposed, and us shown to effectively protect structures against earthquakes. To demonstrate the advantages of this new system, the MF-FPS is compared with FPS as an attempt to prove its performance. A six-degree-of-freedom model is considered as a numerical example. The ground acceleration data of El Centro, Mexico and Gebze earthquakes are used as seismic excitations. The results showed that MF-FPS improved performance compared with FPS.

An analysis of the performance of sector shaped, pivoted pad thrust bearings in consideraation of the inlet pressure (패드의 선단압력을 고려한 부채꼴 모양의 피봇식 추력베어링의 성능해석)

  • The influence of the inlet pressure on bearing performance of tilting pad bearings in laminar regime is examined. A simple flow model is presented to calculate the inlet pressure in inlet flow that occurs at a short distance ahead of the bearing inlet. The bearing performances are obtained, load capacity, friction torque and lubricated flow-rate, etc, numerically for the inlet pressure boundary conditions with and without pressure jump. The computed results of both cases show that bearing performance and the optimum pivot position changes remarkably according to the bearing operating conditions. The influence of the inlet pressure on bearing performance must be considered to analyze the bearing performance precisely.

외부댐핑이 구름베어링-회전축계의 진동특성에 미치는 영향

  • 회전축계가 위험한 공진 또는 불안한 상태를 나타내지 않고 조용하고 안정된 운전상태를 유지하려는 목적은 축의 휨강성, 몸체형상, 베어링의 크기 및 형상과 같은 설계변수를 최적화하는 것으로 이루어질 수 없는 경우가 빈번하다. 이런 경우에는 베어링 외부에 작용하는 "외부댐핑"을 이용하여 진동문제를 근본적으로 개선할 수 있다. 이를 위하여 베어링 외부에 별도로 설계한 스프링과 댐퍼를 설치한다. 본 연구에서는 윤활이론에 따라 명확히 계산되고 그 신빙성이 실험적으로 검증된 "동압유막 댐퍼"의 감쇄계수를 이용하여 외부댐핑을 갖는 회전축-구름베어링\ulcorner와 회전축-저어널 베어링계의 진동특성을 해석하고 회전축-구름베어링계의 실험적 모델을 제시하고자한다. 또한 해석결과와 실험을 토대로 회전축계의 진동특성에 미치는 특성수 및 설계변수를 명확히 도출하여 동특성을 고려한 회전축계의 최적 설계에 기여하고자 한다.축계의 최적 설계에 기여하고자 한다.

  • Damages of the main engine aftmost bearing and the after stern tube bearing tend to increase due to misalignment. And as the shafting system becomes stiffer due to the large engine power, whereas the hull structure becomes more flexible due to optimization by using high tensile thin steel plates. And this is the reason that more sophisticated shaft alignments are required. In this study, the optimum shafting alignment calculation was carried out, considering the thermal expansion effect, exploiting the sensitivity index, which indicates the reasonable position of forward intermediate shaft bearing for shaft alignment. and as the main subject in this study, the elastic deformation on intermediate shaft and main engine bearings occurred by vertical load of shaft mass were examined thoroughly and analyzed allowable load of bearings, reaction influence numbers of all bearings. As the result, a reliable optimum shafting alignment was derived theoretically. To verify these results, they were referred to the engine maker's technical information of main engine installation and being used shafting alignment programs of both Korean Register of Shipping and Det Norske Veritas, their reliability were reviewed.

The elastico-viscous effect in finite journal bearings (유한 저어널 베어링에서 점탄성의 영향)

  • 점탄성유체 유동에 대하여 일반적으로 U.C맥스웰 모델 또는 올드로이드 B모델이 사용되지만 이러한 모델들은-매우 큰 전단율 영역인 윤활문제에서 믿기 힘든-수직응력의 크기가 전단율의 제곱에 비례함을 나타내므로, 본 연구에서는 수직응력 계수들 (.psi.,.psi.$_{2}$)이 가정될 수 있는 Criminale-Ericksen-Filbey모델이 사용되었다. 2차 수직응력계수는 다른 문제들에서와 같이 무시되었으며 Weissenberg수가 포함된 특수레이놀즈식이 유도되었다. 이 모델의 속도분포는 -2차원 약한 점탄성 유체에 대하여 증명된 바와 같이-뉴우톤 유체와 같이 가정되었다. 유도된 특수레이놀즈 식은 Weissenberg수를 1까지 계산되었으며 그 결과 점탄성유체가 유한저어널 베 어링에서 유리한 것으로 나타났지만 그 차가 미소하여 일반베어링에서 점탄성 윤활유의 영향이 무시됨을 보였다.

A Study on Optimum Shaft Alignment Analysis for VLCC (VLCC의 최적 축계정렬해석 연구)

  • Recently, in VLCC, shafting system is stiffer due to large engine power whereas hull structure is more flexible due to scantling optimization, which can be suffered from alignment damage by incompatibility between shafting and hull, In this study, shafting system without stern tube forward bush was adapted for less sensitive system against external factors. Also, shaft alignment analysis was considered with hull deflection at various ship loading conditions and stern tube after bush of long journal bearing was evaluated by static squeezing pressure and dynamic oil film pressure with sloping control. Whirling vibration was also reviewed to avoid resonance with propeller blade order. So, reliable shafting design for VLCC could be achieved through optimized alignment analysis for the system without stern tube forward bush.

Mechanical Characteristics of Laminated Rubber Bearings for Seismic Isolation (면진용 적층고무베어링의 기계적 역학특성)

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate the mechanical characteristics of the laminated rubber bearings (LRBs) for the seismic isolation. The evaluations of the proposed equations of the LRB horizontal stiffness are carried out and these equations are extended to the visco-elastic problems to investigate the damping amplifications of LRBs. The stability evaluation of LRBs is also performed. For investigation of the dynamic characteristics of LRBs, the horizontal stiffness equations of the LRBs considering the P-delta effects are applied to the modeling of a seismically isolated structure and the earthquake response time history analyses are carried out. From this research, the proposed simple equation of the horizontal stiffness of LRB is so useful for the design loads and easily extended to the visco-elastic problems. Through the stability evaluation of LRB, the increasing ratio of the total rubber thickness of the LRB severely decrecises the bucking load than the increasing ratio of unit rubber thickness. From the comparison of the dynamic shear deflection of LRB, the analysis results are in good agreement with those of the experiments.
