The Design?Marketing Strategy through emotion-oriented categorization(focused on Korean traditional sauce) (감성지향적 범주화를 통한 디자인?마케팅 전략(장류제품을 중심으로))

  • 범주화(categorization)은 제품디자인에 있어서 매우 중요하다. 범주화의 유형에 따라 소비자의 감성이 다르고 감성의 차이에 따라 디자인 컨셉 및 디자인요소가 다르게 배합되어야 하기 때문이다. 특히 요즘처럼 제품라인이 확대되어 제품의 차별화가 모호한 경우에는 범주화과정이 필요하다. 즉 감성의 유사성정도를 바탕으로 정확한 범주를 정하고 컨셉화하여 소비자 지향적인 디자인을 제공해야 하는 것이다. 본 연구는 특정의 제품범주(장) 안에 유사한 하위 범주(고추장, 된장, 청국장, 쌈장, 간장)를 구성하고 있는 장류제품전체와 고추장, 된장, 청국장, 쌈장, 간장제품에 대한 소비자의 감성을 추출하고 그 유사성정도를 바탕으로 고추장, 된장, 청국장, 쌈장, 간장의 범주를 결정하여 디자인방향을 어떻게 결정해야 할지를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 장류제품을 연구대상으로 한 것은 장류제품이 한국인의 식탁에서는 가장 기본적이고 중요한 제품 중의 하나이고 또 현대화시대의 라이프스타일과 환경의 변화로 시장이 확대되고 있기 때문이다. 실증연구는 전북지역과 서울지역의 소비자을 바탕으로 이루어졌다. 본 연구는 학문적 측면과 실무적 측면에서 제품디자인에 대한 다양한 통찰력을 제공할 것이다.

  • In post-industrial society, the ability to feel and express emotion is becoming ever more important. In diverse areas of our lives such as economic, social, political and cultural activities, we are witnessing an increased application of the emotional dimension. This paper deals with the human experiences in emotional designs. Literature reviews and case analyses have been used as the main research methods. I first examine the aspects of emotional experience in designs, and then go on to analyze the components of each aspect. Emotional experience in designs has three basic aspects : (a) initially there exist user's emotional needs (b) then these emotions are delivered through design, (c) finally, emotions expressed in designs are experienced by the user. Followings are the related components for each aspect : (a) Physiological, psychological, social and cultural factors cause one to feel emotional needs. (b) Emotion is delivered either through visual symbols, experience, interaction and participation. (c) Emotion is experienced by sensing, feeling, thinking, acting and relating.

  • Categorization is very important for product design. Consumer's emotion become different according to a type of categorization, so design concept and design elements must be combined differently with difference of the emotion. Specially, categorization process is necessary if nowadays product line is enlarged, and a product differentiation is not clear. That is, designers decide on correct categories and a design concept based on similarity of emotion and have to provide to consumer-oriented design. The purpose of this study is to provide a design direction for Korean traditional sauce products after extracting consumers' sensitivity from the whole image of Korean traditional sauce and each images of the sauces-korean hot pepper paste, soybean paste, fermented soybeans paste, SsamJang, and soy sauce- and deciding categories of the each sauces based on the extracted sensitivities' similarity. In the result of this study, we knew that Korean traditional sauces didn't differentiate from consumers' preference images. In our empirical research, the research - emotional image survey on sauces - have conclusion that emotional image of "well-being", "tasty" have positive influence, but emotional image of "messy and dirty", "smelly" have negative influence. Therefore, we suggest that positive emotional images like "tasty" should be emphasized, but negative emotional images like "messy" should be eliminated for design and marketing strategy of Korean traditional sauces. This research will suggest the guideline for product design with respect to academic aspects and working-level aspects.

Affective Scale for Textile Image (직물 디자인 강성 이미지 스케일(image scale))

  • 본 연구에서는 직물 디자인과 관련된 감성 어휘 모형과 디자인 요소 분석 체계를 통합하여 직물 디자인 감성 이미지 스케일을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위해 3차원으로 구성되었던 감성 어휘 모형을 수정하여 2차원-범주 모형으로 만들고 디자인 요소 분석 체계를 이용하여 개별 직물 표본에 대한 디자인 평가가 선행되었다. 두 체계를 토대로 33개의 직물 표본에 대해 76개의 감성 어휘를 사용한 감성 조사가 실시되었다. 직물관련 감성 평가시 개별 감성 어휘를 모두 비교, 판단하는 경우 생길 수 있는 과제의 어려움을 줄이고자 범주 평가 후 범주 내 개별 어휘를 평가하는 방식을 취했다. 설문을 연령대가 다른 일반인과 전문가에게 실시되었으며 설문 결과를 토대로 직물 표본을 2차원-범주 모형에 분포시키고 필수적인 디자인 요소에 대해 확인하였다.

The Method of Hierarchical Emotion Evaluation using Intuitive Categorization (직감적 범주화를 이용한 계층적 감성평가방법)

  • Categorization in a vital means for dealing with the multitudes of entities in the world surrounding people. Among others, the perceptual and the evaluative similarities factors strongly affect categorization. The conventional SD-type procedure are insufficient in this regard, since it requires an individual subject to make isolated judgments about each stimulus to identify categorization in terms of a group tendency. It disregards the individual categorization in which the similarities are of great importance. Thus in this study the phased emotional evaluation method is suggested based on the intuitive categorization of stimuli and on the similarity judgement of representative/ non-representative case in each category. To verify the effectiveness of the suggested evaluation method the scanned jewelry images are selected as test stimuli for emotional evaluation experiment. As a result of the evaluation experiment, the conventional SD-type procedure is complemented by the emotional evaluation method in phases of the task of intuitive categorization, the selection of the representative images and the setup of the evaluation score of the representative images to internally supplied anchors of evaluating non-representative images.

An Analysis of Emotion and Sensibility according to the Color-combinations applied to Living room (거실공간의 배색기법에 따른 감성효과 분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 (1) 인테리어에 대한 감성어휘모형을 도출하고, (2) 거실 인테리어의 주요 배색을 추출한 후, (3) 거실 공간의 배색 감성모형을 개발하였으며, (4) 연구결과를 토대로 거실 인테리어 디자인을 위한 배색기법을 제시하였다. 이를 위하여 인테리어를 기술하는 감성어휘를 수집하고 이들로부터 대표적 감성어휘를 추출, 감성어휘척도를 구성하였다. 감성조사분석을 통해 '따뜻하다-차갑다'(제 1차원), '고급스럽다-소박하다(제 2차원)', '현대적이다-고전적이다'(제3차원)의 세 차원축이 도출되었고, 이렇게 도출된 감성공간 상에 감성어휘들을 대응시키고, 9개의 감성 범주로 구분함으로써 감성어휘모형을 개발하였다. 한편, 거실 인테리어의 주요 배색을 추출하여 배색자극물을 개발하고, 감성어휘모형과의 관계분석을 통해 거실 공간의 배색 감성모형을 개발하였다. 최종적으로, 배색 감성모형에서 도출된 9개의 감성범주와 그에 대응하는 배색을 기반으로 하여 거실용 인테리어 디자인의 핵심이미지에 따른 배색지침을 제시하였다.

Public Sentiment Analysis of Korean Top-10 Companies: Big Data Approach Using Multi-categorical Sentiment Lexicon (국내 주요 10대 기업에 대한 국민 감성 분석: 다범주 감성사전을 활용한 빅 데이터 접근법)

  • Recently, sentiment analysis using open Internet data is actively performed for various purposes. As online Internet communication channels become popular, companies try to capture public sentiment of them from online open information sources. This research is conducted for the purpose of analyzing pulbic sentiment of Korean Top-10 companies using a multi-categorical sentiment lexicon. Whereas existing researches related to public sentiment measurement based on big data approach classify sentiment into dimensions, this research classifies public sentiment into multiple categories. Dimensional sentiment structure has been commonly applied in sentiment analysis of various applications, because it is academically proven, and has a clear advantage of capturing degree of sentiment and interrelation of each dimension. However, the dimensional structure is not effective when measuring public sentiment because human sentiment is too complex to be divided into few dimensions. In addition, special training is needed for ordinary people to express their feeling into dimensional structure. People do not divide their sentiment into dimensions, nor do they need psychological training when they feel. People would not express their feeling in the way of dimensional structure like positive/negative or active/passive; rather they express theirs in the way of categorical sentiment like sadness, rage, happiness and so on. That is, categorial approach of sentiment analysis is more natural than dimensional approach. Accordingly, this research suggests multi-categorical sentiment structure as an alternative way to measure social sentiment from the point of the public. Multi-categorical sentiment structure classifies sentiments following the way that ordinary people do although there are possibility to contain some subjectiveness. In this research, nine categories: 'Sadness', 'Anger', 'Happiness', 'Disgust', 'Surprise', 'Fear', 'Interest', 'Boredom' and 'Pain' are used as multi-categorical sentiment structure. To capture public sentiment of Korean Top-10 companies, Internet news data of the companies are collected over the past 25 months from a representative Korean portal site. Based on the sentiment words extracted from previous researches, we have created a sentiment lexicon, and analyzed the frequency of the words coming up within the news data. The frequency of each sentiment category was calculated as a ratio out of the total sentiment words to make ranks of distributions. Sentiment comparison among top-4 companies, which are 'Samsung', 'Hyundai', 'SK', and 'LG', were separately visualized. As a next step, the research tested hypothesis to prove the usefulness of the multi-categorical sentiment lexicon. It tested how effective categorial sentiment can be used as relative comparison index in cross sectional and time series analysis. To test the effectiveness of the sentiment lexicon as cross sectional comparison index, pair-wise t-test and Duncan test were conducted. Two pairs of companies, 'Samsung' and 'Hanjin', 'SK' and 'Hanjin' were chosen to compare whether each categorical sentiment is significantly different in pair-wise t-test. Since category 'Sadness' has the largest vocabularies, it is chosen to figure out whether the subgroups of the companies are significantly different in Duncan test. It is proved that five sentiment categories of Samsung and Hanjin and four sentiment categories of SK and Hanjin are different significantly. In category 'Sadness', it has been figured out that there were six subgroups that are significantly different. To test the effectiveness of the sentiment lexicon as time series comparison index, 'nut rage' incident of Hanjin is selected as an example case. Term frequency of sentiment words of the month when the incident happened and term frequency of the one month before the event are compared. Sentiment categories was redivided into positive/negative sentiment, and it is tried to figure out whether the event actually has some negative impact on public sentiment of the company. The difference in each category was visualized, moreover the variation of word list of sentiment 'Rage' was shown to be more concrete. As a result, there was huge before-and-after difference of sentiment that ordinary people feel to the company. Both hypotheses have turned out to be statistically significant, and therefore sentiment analysis in business area using multi-categorical sentiment lexicons has persuasive power. This research implies that categorical sentiment analysis can be used as an alternative method to supplement dimensional sentiment analysis when figuring out public sentiment in business environment.

Category-based dimensional model of affective words (우리말 감성 어휘의 범주-차원 모형 - 직물 디자인의 시각적 요소와 관련하여 -)

  • 직물 및 직물 관련 제품에서 주로 사용되는 감성 어휘들의 관계 및 구조를 분석하기 위해 잡지 및 설문 조사 과정을 통해 어휘를 수집하였다. 수집된 어휘의 빈도를 조사하고, 어휘 적절성을 평가하여 감성어라고 생각될 수 있는 어휘들만을 정리하였다. 여기서 추출된 372개의 어휘는 직물 및 직물 관련 상황에서의 감성어로 사용될 수 있을 분만 아니라 유사 분야의 감성어 모형에 대한 기본 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 어휘들 간 관계구조에 대한 분석은 몇 가지 면에서 이뤄졌다. 자유연상 과제를 실시하여 어휘들 간 관계의 연결망(network)을 확인할 수 있었다. 어휘들이 내포하고 있는 의미의 여러 측면에서 어휘들 간 관계를 파악할 수 있도록 어휘들에 대해 다차원 분석을 실시한 결과 어휘 간 관계는 3차원이면 충분히 설명될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 두 개의 주차원을 중심으로 어휘들의 공간 분포를 그리고 이들 어휘를 범주로 분류한 결과 대략 11개의 범주로 어휘들을 나눠볼 수 있었다.

A model of Affectiveness on Korean female faces in twenties (한국인 20대 여성 얼굴의 감성 모형)

  • 본 연구에서는 박수진, 김한경, 한재현, 이정원, 김종일, 송경석, 정찬섭(2001)에서의 발견을 토대로 얼굴의 범주-차원적 감성 구조를 정립하였다. 박수진 등의 연구는 얼굴의 감성 구조를 이루는 2개의 차원축으로 '앳되다-성숙하다', '날카롭다-부드럽다'를 제안하였었다. 본 연구에서는 이들 축으로 이뤄진 얼굴의 2차원 감성 공간 내에 균일하게 17개의 위치를 선정하고 각 위치들에 합성된 해당 얼굴들을 위치시킴으로써 해당 공간의 얼굴 특징을 시각화하였다. 또한 얼굴의 물리적 특징의 변화가 감성에 어 떤 영향을 주는지를 두 개의 주요 축을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 범주 모형으로서 개별 감성 어휘들과 얼굴의 물리적 특징이 어떤 관계가 있는지를 일차적으로 살펴보았다.

A Study on the Structuralization of Consumer Needs by Analysing Emotional Factors (감성 요소 분석을 통한 소비자 니즈의 구조화에 관한 연구)

  • As the Production technology Progresses, the necessity to consider consumers needs being complex and diverse in the phase of developing product is being more important. However, existing system of consumers needs being structured with the view of marketing is too abstractive and categorical to apply in the phase of developing product. So, the goal of this study is to establish method that structuralize customer's needs for applying practically in the phase of the product concept development and to suggest guidelines to needs structuralization with emphasis on the view of cognitive science/cognitive psychology. The major findings of this study is summerized as follows. First, to structuralize not only customer's needs category which being used as standard to assort needs in existing way but also practical needs features, it must contain the concept of emotion that is actual product's meaning to customers in its structure, and for this reason, the structuralized needs with emotions can be defined as emotional needs structure. Second, categorization of concept will be divided as essential concept and referential concept centering around symbolic concept, and from this supposition, emotional needs structure can be composed as benefit concept(essential concept), customer needs(referential concept) centering around emotion(symbolic concept).
