In this research, we have analyzed the trend of radiation pattern variation in relation to the change of design variables such as source interval and source number for conformal array transducers arranged in equi-angle, equi-interval, and geodesic dome forms. Through statistical multiple regression analysis of the results, we derived functional forms of the side lobe level and the beamwidth in terms of the design variables. Futhermore, the structure of the array transducer was optimized to achieve the smallest side lobe level while satisfying the requirements on beam width by the GA (genetic algorithm) method. Based on the optimized results, we have determined the equi-interval form as the optimal array geometry among the three conformal array geometries.
This paper analyses the performance of FFTSA (Fast Fourier Transform Synthetic Aperture) in the effects of temporal coherence and oscillatory towed course, which is one of the techniques for passive synthetic aperture SONAR process using linearly distributed towed array. Also this paper proposes the FFTSA technique using towed array having conformal shape to alleviate the performance degradation for estimating the incident angle under inconsistent under water environments. And this paper analyses the performance of the proposed FFTSA technique making use of conformal structure throughout exhaustive computer simulations.

The radiation characteristics of a pin array patch antenna phased array are compared to those of a conventional patch antenna phased array. The performance of a pin array patch antenna phased array is much improved than that of a conventional patch antenna phased array because the mutual coupling between the adjacent pin array patch antennas is very small compared to that between the adjacent conventional patch antennas. The radiation characteristics of a pin array patch antenna phased array show the superior performance such as low variation of the gain of the main beam and the side lobe level for the variation of the direction of the main beam.

We propose a design method of a Rotman lens for curved array antenna applicable to conformal array. In this paper, design equations are derived to obtain an array curve, transmission line lengths of a Rotman lens in conjunction with a curved array antenna, and the phase error of a Rotman lens based on these design equations is minimized through the beam curve optimization procedure and the refocusing procedure. Rotman lenses designed by the proposed design equations and design procedures still maintain 3 focal points, can feed a convex or concave array antenna with circular curve, parabolic curve, V-shaped curve, etc as well as a straight line array antenna, and have minimal phase error.

This study aims to investigate the characteristics of the flow-induced vibrations of two circular cylinders. The characteristics of the flow-induced vibrations are examined for various flow velocities and spaces between the two cylinders when they are arranged in tandem, staggered, and side-by-side positions. The results are as follows: (i) Seven flow-induced vibration patterns are observed when the two circular cylinders are placed in either tandem, staggered, or side-by-side positions. (ii) The two cylinders induce a vibration because they affect each other. (iii) The easiest way to induce a vibration of the two cylinders is by placing them in the side-by-side position among the three arrangements (tandem, staggered, and side-by-side). (iv) The change in the maximum flow-induced vibration of the two cylinders depends strongly on the fluctuating lift forces of each of them.

We have fabricated nanodot arrays by using phase separated (PS- b- PMMA) diblock copolymer film and anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane as templates with hexagonal arrays of cylindrical microdomains perpendicular to the substrate. Pulsed laser deposition technique was used to deposit various kinds of materials including Ag, Ni, ZnO, Si:Er, and Co/Pt onto Si substrates. The size and separation of nanodots correspond to those of the templates used, The density of nanodots was estimated to be $6{\times}10^{11}/cm^2$ and $1{\times}10^{10}/cm^2$ when the diblock copolymer and AAO were used, respectively. In particular, the optical properties of ZnO and Si: Er nanodot arrays were investigated and the strong photoluminescence at 380 nm and $1.54{\mu}m$ was observed from ZnO and Si:Er nanodot arrays, respectively.

A new directional linear array structure and its signal processing method are presented to resolve the left/right ambiguity inherent in a linear array. The array structure combines an ordinary acoustic sensor array with a DIFAR (Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording) sensor array, keeping a linear array configuration and gaining a instantaneous left/right discrimination. It presents better PSRR (Port-Starboard Rejection Ratio) in low frequency band and low SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) situation as compared with a conventional twin linear array, and good compromise to easily upgrade an existing linear array system to a new one with a left/right discrimination capability.
In the sequentially rotated array antennas, the characteristics of antenna gain, axial ratio and cross polarization have been analyzed with a varying of sequential array constant(number of array element, figure of rotation) respectively. Where the antenna element of array is a probe feeding, LHCP truncated microstrip antenna whose resonant frequency is in 11.85GHz. The simulation results of 23 SRA antennas((M=2, 3, 4, 6, 8), $(1\leqP\leqM)$) has shown as follows. The widest 3dB bandwidth of axial ratio appears at P=2 which is in-dependant of M, the highest antenna gain appears when a sequential array constant has a pair of (2, 1), (3, 2), (4, 1), (6, 3), (8, 1) respectively. Specially, all of the SRA antenna appear very poor characteristics in case of M=P. Therefore the SRA antenna has to be designed as selecting a optimal sequential array constant among a lot of simulation data.

This paper describes the pattern synthesis method of two kinds of conformal array antenna using the Enhanced Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (EAGA). One is the $1{\times}16$ conformal array antenna on a curved cylindrical metallic surface with quadratic function, and the other is the 18-element conformal arrary antenna on a metallic surface obtained by the rotation of a quadratic function curve around the axis. The active element pattern is utilized in the pattern synthesis. Especially for the case of the rotated-type conformal array antenna the transformed active element pattern obtained from the Euler's angle rotation of the active element pattern of the planar concentric array is utilized, which reduces the synthesis time a lot. To verify the validity of the proposed synthesis method the MATLAB results are compared with the MWS results. Furthermore, for the case of $1{\times}16$ conformal array antenna the measured results are compared with the MATLAB synthesized results.

In this paper, a beam pattern performance analysis was performed according to number of array elements and spacing of the phase array antenna. The distance between array elements in an array structure design was reduced due to the electrical length of Ka-band, which increases the number of array elements in applying the aperture. If the number of elements reduce by widening the array distance, the grating lobes of the same size as the main beam will occur in visible region. If the number of array elements should be applied to a system where the number of array elements should be minimized, the analysis was performed on a plan to reduce the number of array elements and minimize degradation of performance, such as beam width and side lobe level.
