Design of Food Waste Trading E-Commerce Service with IoT-based Capacity Information Collection (사물인터넷 기반의 용량 정보 수집을 통한 음식물 쓰레기 전자상거래 서비스의 설계)

  • This paper proposes an E-Commerce service that supports large quantities of food waste sales generated by collective residences, including apartments, to consumers in urban areas, such as livestock farmers, through online transactions. Unlike general E-Commerce, the proposed service uses a smart food waste bin equipped with an IoT-based sensor and communication module to automatically collect the location information of each apartment and the amount of food waste to be displayed in a specialized E-Commerce platform. The key of this system is to provide information and sell it to consumers. The smart food waste bin periodically delivers its current capacity and location using a weight sensor, GPS sensor and LoRa communication module to a cloud-based database to be used in web or mobile applications. The proposed E-Commerce service is expected to help resolve the food waste disposal problem and revitalize the local economy by linking with a service that delivers food waste from each apartment to a nearby location where the buyer is located.

Implementation of a Meeting Place Recommendation System (미팅 장소 추천 시스템 구현)

  • When determining a meeting place, it is always a cumbersome problem to select an appropriate store with a short travel time for all participants. In this paper, to solve this problem, we propose an algorithm that recommends the best place and store based on the subway station and develop the system. This system provides a web-based store information registration function that allows self-employed people to register and promote their store, and provides an app-based function to recommend a meeting place to participants. The proposed algorithm reduces the travel time of all participants based on the subway map and improves fairness by using the standard deviation of the required time. In addition, this system presents a new way for self-employed people who have recently relied only on publicity through delivery apps.

  • The demand for two-wheelers has increased in recent years, driven by the growing delivery culture, which has also led to a rise in the number of two-wheelers. Although two-wheelers are economically efficient in congested traffic conditions, reckless driving and ambiguous traffic laws for two-wheelers have turned two-wheeler accidents into a significant social issue. Given the high fatality rate associated with two-wheelers, the severity and risk of two-wheeler accidents are considerable. It is, therefore, crucial to thoroughly understand the characteristics of two-wheeler accidents by analyzing their attributes. In this study, the characteristics of two-wheeled vehicle accidents were categorized using the K-prototypes algorithm, based on data from two-wheeled vehicle accidents. As a result, the accidents were divided into four clusters according to their characteristics. Each cluster showed distinct traits in terms of the roads where accidents occurred, the major laws violated, the types of accidents, and the times of accident occurrences. By tailoring enforcement methods and regulations to the specific characteristics of each type of accident, we can reduce the incidence of accidents involving two-wheelers in metropolitan areas, thereby enhancing road safety. Furthermore, by applying machine learning techniques to urban transportation and safety, this study adds to the body of related literature.

How Do People Evaluate a Web Site's Credibility (이용자들의 웹 사이트 신뢰성 평가 방법에 관한 연구)

  • The Internet is now an integral part of the everyday lives of a majority of people. They are demanding web sites that offer credible information - Just as much as they want sites that are easy to navigate. But the online reality today is that few Internet users say they can trust the web sites that have products for sale or the sites that offer advice about which products and services to buy. Users want the web sites they visit to provide clear information to allow them to judge the site's credibility. Users want to know who runs the site; how to reach those people; the site's privacy policy; and how the site deals with mistakes. In the eyes of users all sites ate not equal. Users have different credibility standards for different types of sites. For news and information sites users want advertising clearly labeled as advertising. And users want the site to provide a list of the editors responsible for the site's contents, including the editor's email address. For e-commerce sites, user expectations and demands are just about as high as they can be. They say that it is very important that these sites provide specific, accurate information about the site's policies and practices.

Internet Apparel Shopping: Perception of Risk among South Korean Female College Students in the Apparel Major (한국 여대생의 인터넷을 통한 의류제품 구입시의 인지위험 - 의류학 전공자를 대상으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate perception of risks among South Korean female college students within the process of purchasing apparel products through the Internet. The study was implemented by descriptive survey method using questionnaire and subjects consisted of 324 South Korean female college students. Findings of the study showed that the purchasing process particularly regarding delivery and security issues seemed to be a strong concern. On the other hand, unique selection such as apparel brands only available through the Internet was a strong appeal to 37.7% of subjects. Factor analysis profiled risk perception as: 1) Internet Shopping Selection Preference, 2) Delivery Problems and Lack of Security 3) Product Quality and Characteristics 4) Return Policy Difficulties and 5) Fair Prices. Discriminant analysis showed Factors 1, 2 and 3 were significant in helping to differentiate among Non-Purchasers, Fewer-purchasers and Many-Purchasers. Factor 1 and 3 helped differentiate among respondents relative to age range. Across all types of purchasers, offering unique selections of cutting edge fashions and improving risk perception relative to delivery and security concerns seemed important for gaining greater market share. Being able to delivery quality products and communicate product characteristics would be a powerful competitive edge to add to the incentive of convenience in shopping for apparel on the Internet.

Reaction Characteristics of Kaolinite-based Additives and Alkali Salts (Kaolinite 계열의 첨가제와 알칼리염의 반응 특성)

  • When the waste solid fuel (SRF, Bio-SRF) is burnt in a boiler, a problem occurs in the combustion process involving the alkali components (Na, K) contained in large amounts in the fuel. The alkaline component has a low melting point, which usually forms low melting point salt in the temperature of the furnace, with the resulting low melting point salts attaching to the heat pipe to form a clinker. Various additives are used to suppress clinker generation, and the additive based on the kaolinite has alkali-aluminum-silica to inhibit the clinker. In this study, the reactivity of the additives based on the kaolinite was compared. The additives utilized were R-kaolinite, B-kaolinite, and A-kaolinite. Also silica and MgO were sourced as the comparison group. The experimental group was employed as a laboratory-scale batch horizontal reactor. The additive and alkaline salts were reacted at a weight ratio of 1 : 1, and the reaction temperature was performed at 900 ℃ for 10 hours. The first measurement of HCl occurring during the experiment was performed 30 minutes after the detection tube was used, and the process was repeated every hour after the experiment. After the reaction, solid residues were photographed for characterization analysis by means of an optical microscope. The reaction characteristics of the kaolinite were confirmed based on the analysis results.

An Information Management Strategy Over Entire Life Cycles of Hazardous Waste Streams (유해폐기물 생애 전주기 흐름 기반 정보 관리 전략)

  • Korea has an economy based on manufacturing industrial fields, which produce high amounts of hazardous wastes, in spite of few landfill candidates, and a significant concern for fine airborne particulates; therefore, traditional waste management is difficult to apply in this country. Moreover, waste collection and accumulation have recently been intensified by the waste import prohibitions or regulations in developing nations, the universalization of delivery services in Korea, and the global COVID-19 crisis. This study thus presents a domestic waste management strategy that aims to address the recent issues on waste. The contents of the strategy as the main results of the study include the (1) improvement of the compatibility of the classification codes between the domestic hazardous waste and the international ones such as those of the Basel Convention; (2) consideration of the mixed hazard indices to represent toxicity from low-content components such as rare earth metals often contained in electrical and electronic equipment waste; (3) management application based on risks throughout the life cycles of waste; (4) establishment of detailed material flow information of waste by integrating the Albaro system, Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) system, and online trade databases; (5) real-time monitoring and prediction of the waste movement or discharge using positional sensors and geographic information systems, among others; and (6) selection and implementation of optimal treatment or recycling practices through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and clean technologies.

A Study on the e-Document Development of Parcel Service for Reliable Delivery (택배 물류 안전 배송을 위한 전자문서 개발 연구)

  • Parcel service is to deliver goods from one place to the designated destination requested according to user request. Parcel operations such as sorting, distributing, etc. or the managed information are heterogeneous by the companies. Additionally, it is impossible to support interoperability between companies with unformatted data of manual processing. Most parcel package boxes attached to paper typed waybill is attached is delivered to consignee. So, security problems such as personal information leaking are occurred, or extra processing time and logistics costs are needed due to wrong or the damaged information. Business environment of parcel service is rapidly changed as introducing unmanned delivery or the advanced technology such as Internet of Things. User want to know the accurate status or steps from parcel service request to delivery. To provide these requirements, the unified and integrated waybill information for reliable transportation of parcel service is needed. This information will provide to pickup or delivery carrier, warehouse or terminal, and parcel service user per pickup, transport, and delivery stage of parcel delivery service. Therefore, this paper defines the simplified and unified information model for parcel service waybill by analyzing information systems used for logistics unit processes that is occurred to parcel service, and manual work processes, and developing the relevant information of work flows occurred between business processes or transactions with the collected or processed information by from parcel service's stages. It is possible to share these standard model between business entities, and replacing paper typed waybill will improve national life safety as preventing security threats by paper typed waybill. As a result, it will promote the public interest from the stakeholder's perspective.

Performance Improvement of Spam Filtering Using User Actions (사용자 행동을 이용한 쓰레기편지 여과의 성능 개선)

  • With rapidly developing Internet applications, an e-mail has been considered as one of the most popular methods for exchanging information. The e-mail, however, has a serious problem that users ran receive a lot of unwanted e-mails, what we called, spam mails, which cause big problems economically as well as socially. In order to block and filter out the spam mails, many researchers and companies have performed many sorts of research on spam filtering. In general, users of e-mail have different criteria on deciding if an e-mail is spam or not. Furthermore, in e-mail client systems, users do different actions according to a spam mail or not. In this paper, we propose a mail filtering system using such user actions. The proposed system consists of two steps: One is an action inference step to draw user actions from an e-mail and the other is a mail classification step to decide if the e-mail is spam or not. All the two steps use incremental learning, of which an algorithm is IB2 of TiMBL. To evaluate the proposed system, we collect 12,000 mails of 12 persons. The accuracy is $81{\sim}93%$ according to each person. The proposed system outperforms, at about 14% on the average, a system that does not use any information about user actions.

Burning and The Ethical Subject (영화 <버닝>과 윤리적 주체)

  • The film Burning (Lee Chang-dong, 2018) is one of the most noted Korean films in recent years as a work that unfolds an elaborate narrative in a delicate visualization. This film is a multi-vocal text in which different types of characters appear and scattered objective facts and ambiguous subjective desires are intertwined, so it is a text that has room for diverse interpretations. This article attempts to read Burning as an ethical discourse centered on the protagonist Jong-su, noting that the film raises universal and significant ethical issues that transcend the specific social and historical conditions of a contemporary Korean youth. I would like to examine the situation in which Jong-su is facing and his reaction to it, above all, from the perspective of Jong-su's ethical awakening and leap forward. Jong-su, a young South Korean non-regular man living in the present, encounters and connects with Hae-mi and Ben and attempts to understand the mysteries of the world. His trajectory, which the film shows closely, inevitably intersects the social and historical dimension of confusion and frustration of a young man graduated from the Department of Creative Writing, the reality of family dissolution and the individual psychological dimension of the sudden disappearance of his lover Hae-mi. Burning is a magistrate film that depicts Jong-su as an ethical subject oriented toward 'communal togetherness' while confronting the world and exploring its mysteries despite all his unfavorable conditions, such as his social position of the precariat youth and the epistemological uncertainty of reality perception. It is read as a story of his painful growth, in which Jong-su is becoming a 'writer', who once was a helpless non-regular delivery worker.
