An Experimental Study on the Pumping Performance of the Turbo-Type Disk-Type Drag Pump (터보형 원판형 드래그펌프의 배기특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this paper, the pumping performance of the disk-type drag pump which works in the outlet pressure range from 4 to 0.001 Torr is studied experimentally. The pumping characteristics of various drag pumps are performed. The inlet pressures are measured for various outlet pressures of the test pump. The flow-meter method is adopted to calculate the pumping speed. Compression ratios and pumping speeds for the nitrogen gas are measured. The present experimental data show the leak-limited value of the compression ratio in the molecular transition region. The rotational speed of the pump is 24,000rpm. The inlet pressures are measured for various outlet pressures of the test pump. The ultimate Pressures for zero throughput are measured for three-stage, two-stage and single-stage disk-type, respectively.

  • An experimental study on pumping characteristics of various turbo-type drag pumps is purformed. The inlet pressures are measured for various outlet pressures of the test pump. The maximum compression ratios for nitrogen are 100,000(Disk-type drag pump+ turbo molecular pump), 10000(Helical-type drag pump+turbo molecular pump), 850 (Helical-type drag pump), 100(disk-type drag pump).

A Novel Design of Frequency Multiplier Using Feedforward Technique and Defected Ground Structure (Feedforward와 Defected Ground Structure를 이용한 주파수 체배기 설계)

  • A novel design of frequency multiplier using a feedforward technique and a defected ground structure(DGS) is proposed. The feedforward loop in the proposed frequency multiplier suppresses the fundamental component $(f_0)$, the dumb-bell or spiral shaped DGS diminish unwanted harmonics such as second, third and fourth. Due to the combination of the feedforward structure and the DGS, only the multiplied frequency component$(2f_0,\;3f_0,\;4f_0)$ appears at the output port and the other unwanted components are suppressed excellently. The frequency multiplier is designed at 1 GHz $(f_0)$, by the proposed technique and measured. The measured output power of $2f_0,\;3f_0$ and $4f_0$ is -2.59 dBm, -5.36dBm and -4.57dBm, respectively, when the input power is 0dBm.

  • 반도체 생산 공정은 청정 환경을 요구하며, 이를 위해서는 고진공 환경이 필수적인 요소이다. 반도체 생산 라인의 고진공 환경 조성을 위해서는 주로 복합 분자 펌프와 크라이오 펌프가 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 상용 크라이오 펌프에 사용되던 GM 극저온 냉동기를 맥동관 냉동기로 대체하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 맥동관 냉동기는 저온부에 움직이는 부분이 없어 진동이 작고, 신뢰성이 높은 장점이 있어 이를 이용한 크라이오 펌프는 반도체 생산 공정의 공정 정밀도 향상에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 맥동관 냉동기는 크라이오 펌프에 사용하기 위하여 2단으로 구성되며, 저온부가 U자 형상으로 개발되었다. 상용화를 고려하여 로터리 밸브와 위상조절기구가 위치하는 상온부는 일체형으로 제작하였다. 제작된 맥동관 냉동기의 기초 냉각 성능 시험 결과 부하가 없는 조건에서 최저도달온도는 1단과 2단에서 각각 42.53 K과 8.68 K 이었으며, 부하 시험 결과 1단과 2단에서 각각 40 W at 82.97 K, 10 W at 20.51 K의 냉각 능력을 갖는 것으로 측정되었다. 개발된 맥동관 냉동기에 복사차폐막 및 1차, 2차 냉각판을 설치하여 크라이오 펌프를 구성하였고, 기체 질소에 대한 배기 속도 측정 시험을 수행하였다. 배기속도 측정 결과 배기속도는 2차 냉각판의 형상에 크게 영향을 받는 것이 확인되었으며, 약 650 L/의 배기속도를 갖는 것으로 측정되었다. 실험 결과를 바탕으로 크라이오 펌프로 작동시 맥동관 냉동기의 동작 특성 및 배기 속도 향상을 위한 방안을 논의하였다.

Combustion and Emissions Characteristics of a Diesel Engine with the Variation of the HP/LP EGR Proportion (고압/저압 EGR 공급 비율에 따른 디젤 엔진의 연소 및 배기 특성)

  • The effects of high pressure and low pressure exhaust gas recirculation (HP/LP EGR) portion on diesel engine combustion and emissions characteristics were investigated in a 2.2 L passenger-car diesel engine. The po3rtion of HP/LP EGR was varied from 0 to 1 while fixing the mass flow rate of fresh air. The intake manifold temperature was lowered with the increasing of the portion of LP EGR, which led to the retardation of heat release by pilot injection. The lowered intake manifold temperature also resulted in low nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions due to decreased in-cylinder temperature and prolonged ignition delay, however, the carbon monoxide (CO) emission showed opposite trend to NOx emissions. The brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) was decreased as the portion of LP EGR increased due to lowered exhaust manifold pressure by wider open of turbocharger vane. Consequently, the trade-off relationship between NOx and BSFC could be improved by increasing the LP EGR portion.

  • This paper presents on design factor considered in an altitude test cell facility to determine the best sizing to optimize exhaust diffuser pressure recovery and the exact cooling load required to be supplied under transient operation. Engine simulation was performed to analyse the exhaust gas temperature, exit mass flow rate, specific fuel consumption and exhaust velocity helpful in determining secondary mass air flow and the mixed air temperature entering the ejector. based on this, the amount of cooling load was deduced. It was found that improved pressure recovery reduces operational cost(air supply facility, cooling water).

  • Recently, automotive engineers have paid much attention to waste heat recovery technology as a possible means to improve the thermal efficiency of an automotive engine. A large displacement gasoline engine is generally a V-type engine. It is not cost effective to install two superheaters at each exhaust manifold for the heat recovery purposes. A single superheater could be installed as close to the exhaust manifold as possible for the higher recovery efficiency; however, only half of exhaust gas can be used for heat recovery. On the contrary, the exhaust temperature is decreased for the case where the superheater is installed at a junction of two exhaust tail pipes. With the fact in mind, the optimum position of a single superheater was investigated using simulation models developed from a commercial software package (i.e. AMESim). It was found that installing the superheater near the exhaust manifold could recover 3.8 kW more from the engine exhaust despite utilizing only half of the exhaust mass flow. Based on this result, the optimum layout of an automotive waste heat recovery system was developed and proposed in this paper.

Calibration of Discharge Coefficient of Sonic Nozzle Using CVFM (정적형 유량계를 이용한 소닉노즐 유출계수 교정 방법에 관한 연구)

  • Sonic nozzles have been a standard device for measurement of steady state gas flow, as recommended in ISO 9300. This paper introduces two sonic nozzles of diameter ${\Phi}$ 0.03 mm and ${\Phi}$ 0.2 mm precisely machined according to ISO 9300. The constant volume flow meter(CVFM), readily set up in the Vacuum center of KRISS. was used to calibrate the discharge coefficients of both nozzles. The calibration results were shown to determine them within the 3% expanded measurement uncertainty. Calibrated sonic nozzles were found to be applicable for precision measurement of steady state gas flow in the vacuum process in the ranges of 0.6~1,800 cc/min. Those flow conditions are equivalent to the fine gas flow with Reynolds numbers of 26~12,100. Those encouraging results confirm that calibrated sonic nozzles enable precision measurement of extremely low gas flow encountered very often in th vacuum processes. Both calibrated sonic nozzles are proven to provide the precision measurement of the volume flow rate of the dry vacuum pump within one percent difference in reference to CVFM. Calibrated sonic nozzles are applied to a new 'in-situ and in-field' equipment designed to measure the volume flow rate of vacuum pumps in the semiconductor and flat display processes. Furthermore, they can provide other applications to flow control devices in vacuum, such as MFC, etc.
