The Improvement in Pumping Characteristics of Sputter Ion Pumps in the Ultra High Vacuum(UHV) Region (이온펌프의 초고진공영역에서의 배기특성개선)

  • 초고 진공영역에서 배기특성 개선을 위하여 재질 및 구조가 다른 세가지 형태의 60(l/s) 형이온 펌프를 제작하여 그 배기특성을 측정하였다. 그 결과 음극판에 Ta 선을 전기용접한 펌프와 양극 cell의 구조에 변화를 준 펌프의 배기속도가 상용으로 이용되고 있는 펌프에 비해 약 50% 이상 개선되었다.

A Filter Design for Reducing Altitude Measurement Errors Arising during Aircraft Landing (항공기 착륙 시에 발생하는 고도측정 오차 개선을 위한 필터설계)

  • Passive sensors such as Laser Range Finder(LRF) and Forward Looking Infrared(FLIR) camera frequently used for tracking aircraft landing produce the measurements of elevation angle contaminated by large noise due to the exhaust plume disturbance. This results in poor tracking performance if the extended Kalman filter is used for estimation of the range and elevation which are corrupted by the non-Gaussian noise such as plume disturbance. In this paper, an adaptive estimation filter and the extended Kalman filter is combined to produce a combination-type filter. In this approach the adaptive filter is used for the plume-type disturbance noise and the extended Kalman filter is utilized for the measurement of Gaussian type. The proposed combination filter is effective for the trajectory estimation of landing aircraft under the influence of unknown bias and numerical simulations illustrate the performance of the proposed filter.

  • This study is focused on the development of a new muffler. A control valve installed in the exhaust system is operated by torsion springs, and its open angle is controlled automatically corresponding to the engine operating conditions. A control valve and a control muffler sensing exhaust-gas pressure are made f3r developing a new muffler. The experiments were done using an exhaust system simulator having the same pulsation wave frequency and similar pulsation propagation characteristics of a real exhaust system. The purpose of this study is to develope a new muffler system which has improved noise reduction quality and less power loss than conventional mufflers and electronic-control mufflers. Finally the characteristic of noise compared with conventional muffler and muffler sensing exhuast-gas pressure.

An Experimental Study on the Pumping Performance of the Multi-stage Disk-type Drag Pump (다단 원판형 드래그펌프의 배기 성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Experimental investigations are performed for the rarefied gas flows in a multi-stage disk-type drag pump. The pump considered in the present study consists of grooved rotors and stators. The flow-meter method is adopted to calculate the pumping speed. Compression ratios and pumping speeds for the nitrogen gas are measured under the outlet pressure range of 0.13∼533 Pa. The present experimental data show the leak-limited value of the compression ratio in the molecular transition region. The rotational speed of the pump is 24,000rpm, and nitrogen is used as a test gas. The pumping characteristics of various drag pumps are performed. The inlet pressures are measured for various outlet pressures of the test pump. The ultimate pressures for zero throughput are measured for three-stage, two-stage and single-stage disk-type, respectively.

Pumping speed of a sputter ion pump with a honeycomb anode cell structure (벌집형 셀 구조를 가지는 스퍼터 이온펌프의 성능 분석)

  • We measured pumping speed of a sputter ion pump with a honeycomb anode cell structure and compared the result with that of another sputter ion pump with a typical cylindrical anode cell structure. A cell module with a honeycomb structure has no dead space which is about 10 % of the entire horizontal area of the cell module with a cylindrical structure. This dead space makes a little contribution to the ionization of the gas, so the pumping performance of the pump with dead space is expected to be lowered by the amount. From the experimental data we concluded that the honeycomb cell structure is superior to the cylindrical structure by $5{\sim}10%$ in performance.
