A Study about Detection of Defects in the Nuclear Piping Loop System Using Cooling Lock-in Infrared Thermography (원전 배관 루프시스템의 냉각 위상잠금 적외선열화상을 이용한 결함 검출에 관한 연구)

  • A study on the application of cooling defect detection was performed on the basis of a preceding study on the heated defect detection in nuclear piping loop system, using lock-in infrared thermography. A loop system with piping defects was made by varying the wall-thinning length, the circumference orientation angle, and the wall-thinning depth. The test was performed using an IR camera and a cooling device. Distance between the cooling device and the target loop system was fixed at 2 m. For analyzing experimental results, the temperature distribution data for cooling, and phase data were obtained. Through the analysis of this data, the defect length was measured. The reliability of the measurements for cooling defect conditions was shown to be higher in the lock-in infrared thermography data than the infrared thermography data.

  • A district heating system produces thermal energy and supplies it to a large region. District heating systems can provide higher efficiencies and better pollution control than localized boilers. The heat generated by a district heating system is distributed to the customer via a network of insulated pipes. For the optimal operation of a district heating system, it is important to predict the distributions of pressure, flow rate and temperature of heating fluid within the network of pipes at various operating conditions. In this work, a mathematical modeling was performed to predict the dynamic hydraulic-thermal behaviors of heating fluid in the network of pipes for a district heating system. The mathematical model accounts for the conservations of mass, momentum and energy. In order to verify the validity of modeling, the modeling results were compared with the monitoring data of Gang-nam Branch of District Heating.

  • Generally, the flow hunting is observed in almost all of the orifice meters but the intensity of the flow hunting is different at each metering system. In order to investigate the relations between pipe diameter and the flow instability or the flow hunting in a real metering system, a one-dimensional pipeline network model was built and analyzed for the examination of flow characteristics and relations to the flow hunting, changing diameters of the meter and the pipes before and after the meter. Finally, the effects of pressuredifference variation and flow hunting following to the variations of the diameters of the meter and the pipes before and after the meter were investigated and the relations were examined as well.

Safety Assessment of By-product Gas Piping after Design Change (부생가스 연료배관의 설계변경에 따른 안전성 평가)

  • Various process piping usually carries out high flammable and explosible gas under high pressure and high temperature. Due to frequent change of design and structure it becomes more complicated and compactly located. The safety management level is relatively low since it is considered as simply designed component. In this study a safety assessment procedure is proposed for complicated piping system around a mixing drum in which natural gas and by-product gases were mixed. According to ASME code, pipe stress analysis was conducted for determining design margin at some key locations of the piping. These high stress locations can be used as major inspection points for managing the pipe integrity. Sensitivity analysis with outside temperature of the pipe and support constraint condition. Possible effect of hydroen gas to the pipe steel during the previous use of the by-product gas was also discussed.

  • 배관에 생기는 구멍이나 틈은 대형 사고의 원인이 될 수 있다. 이러한 배관의 결함을 찾기 위해서는 먼저 센서를 부착한 배관 탐사 장비를 배관에 통과시키고, 배관을 통과하는 중에 센서가 읽은 정보들을 배관 탐사 장비의 하드 디스크에 저장한다. 배관 통과가 완료된 후, 분석가는 분석 프로그램을 사용하여 탐사 장비에서 얻은 데이터에서 결함을 수동적으로 찾는다. 분석가가 데이터를 분석할 때 일반적으로 두 가지 패턴이 존재한다. 첫 번째 패턴은 일정한 구간의 센서 데이터를 순차적으로 분석하는 패턴이고, 두 번째 패턴은 현재 구간에서 이전 구간으로 되돌아가서 다시 분석하는 반복적인 패턴이다. 현재까지 만족할 만 한 수준으로 자동적으로 분석이 되지 않으므로, 분석가는 수작업으로 분석을 하는 경우가 많은데 이로 인해 최근에 읽은 부분을 전후 반복해서 액세스하는 반복적인 패턴이 많이 사용된다. 반복적 패턴의 경우 시스템의 성능을 향상시키기 위해, 이전에 읽은 배관 센서 데이터를 캐싱 할 필요가 있다. 그러나 기존의 분석 소프트웨어에는 캐싱 기능이 없으므로 반복적 패턴일 경우 데이터베이스에서 동일한 데이터를 반복적으로 읽는 문제를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 배관 센서 데이터를 효율적으로 관리하는 캐쉬 관리자를 설계하고 구현하였다. 세부적으로는, 배관 센서 데이터를 시계열 데이터로 간주하고, 시계열 데이터에 대한 캐시 관리자를 제안하였다. 본 논문은 배관 탐사 장비에서 획득한 데이터들을 시계열 데이터로 간주하여 데이터베이스 측면에서 이러한 문제들을 접근하였다는 점에서 의미가 있으며, 향후 이 분야에 대한 많은 연구들이 나올 것으로 기대한다.

  • Propellant filling and holding test was carried out using liquid oxygen as a working fluid. The feeding line system has a filter at propellant tank outlet. Vaporization of liquid oxygen during holding after completion of filling and effect of vaporization to recirculation performance in this system was observed. Filling rate and pressure of tank ullage had the effect on state of liquid oxygen in feeding line. There was no geysering in feeding line during holding because of the position of filter.

  • 일반적으로 집이나 건물이 지어진 후 약 2~3년이 지나면 수도관 내부에는 물때, 미생물, 유기화합물질 등이 혼합되어 슬라임(slime)이 발생하며, 노후화되어 슬러지(sludge) 형태로 누적 되거나 스케일(scale)이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 이물질의 누적으로 인하여 수도관이 손상되거나, 여러 가지 원인으로 인하여 교체해야하는 상황이 발생할 수 있다. 이러한 이유로 저수조나 공용관의 경우에는 정기적으로 세척하고 있으며, 일반 가정 내의 수도관 역시 정기적인 관리가 필요하다고 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 적절한 배관청소기의 제어를 위하여 물과 압축공기의 배합을 적절하게 제어하도록 하여 배관내부의 이물질을 제거할 수 있는 배관청소시스템을 설계하고자 하며, 밸브조절 및 물의 공급시간과 압축공기의 유입시간에 대한 적절한 제어를 원격지에서 제어할 수 있도록 배관청소시스템을 개발하여 성능에 관한 평가와 사업화 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

Software Package for Pipe Hydraulics Calculation for Single and Two Phase Flow (배관 유동의 주요 변수계산을 위한 소프트웨어 시스템의 개발)

  • In various industrial processes, piping serves as a link between unit processes and is an essential installation for internal flow. Therefore, the optimum design of the piping system is very important in terms of safety and cost, which requires the estimation of the pressure drop, flow rate, pipe size, etc. in the piping system. In this study, we developed a software that determines pressure drop, flow rate, and pipe size when any two of these design variables are known. We categorized the flows into single phase, homogeneous two phase, and separated two phase flows, and applied suitable calculation models accordingly. We also constructed a system library for the calculation of the pipe material, relative roughness, fluid property, and friction coefficients to minimize user input. We further created a costing library according to the piping material for the calculation of the investment cost of the pipe per unit length. We implemented all these functions in an integrated environment using a graphical user interface for user convenience, and C # programming language. Finally, we verified the accuracy of the software using literature data and examples from an industrial process with obtained deviations of 1% and 8.8% for the single phase and two-phase models.

  • The revised U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC), Regulatory Guide(RG) 1.20, rev.3 requires the evaluation of the potential adverse effects from pressure fluctuations and vibrations on piping and components for the reactor coolant, steam, feedwater, and condensate systems. Detailed vibration analyses for the systems attached to the steam generator are very difficult, because these piping systems are very complicated. This paper suggests a screening method for the flow-induced vibration of acoustic resonances and pump-induced vibration of the piping systems attached to the steam generator in order to conduct the APR1400 comprehensive vibration assessment program. This paper seeks to address the areas such as potential vibration sources, and methods to prevent the occurrence of acoustic resonances and pump-induced vibration of piping systems attached to the steam generator, for conducting the APR1400 comprehensive vibration assessment program. The screening method in this paper will be used to estimate the flow-induced vibration of the piping systems attached to the steam generator for the APR1400.
