A Study on the Recycling of Radioactively Contaminated Metal Waste (방사성오염 금속폐기물의 재활용 연구)

  • Recycling of radioactively contaminated metal wasles is very attractive to reduce thc final disposal volumc of the radioactive wastes, thereby maximizing the usage of nahrral rzsuunts and minimizmg the detrimental effects of thz rzdioaclive wastes on the environment. In the recycling process, many complicated processes arc involved. Among those processes the 'surface contamination removal techniques such as physical, chemical and electrochern~calm ethods are the most critical and Ircquently applied in accordance with the contamination characteristics and the chemical compositions of the metal wastes. In this sludy, the sulfuric acid-cerium method and electmchemical methods were applied lu removc the conatiminated suhce. The results showed the surface contaminalion could he lowered to the background levcl by lhasc mclhods.

  • Phytoremediation, using plants to remediate toxic organic and inorganic pollutants in contaminated soils, is an emerging technology for environmental cleanup. Three strategies of this technology are applicable to the remediation of toxic heavy metals, radionuclides, and toxic organic pollutants: They are (1) phytoextraction, in which plants anumulate the contaminants and are harvested for the downstream processing; (2) phytodegradation, in which plant-released enzymes or plant-associated microorganisms convert toxic pollutants into non-toxic materials; and (3) phytostabilization, in which toxic pollutants are precipitated from solution or absorbed in either the plant tissue or the soil matrix. Phytoremediation is more effective and less expensive than other current treatment technologies.

  • This paper was development of surface contamination automatic smear sampling for measuring radioactive contamination in radiation controlled area of nuclear facility. In indirect method a smear paper are used manually. Activity on the smear paper is affected by varying the pressures applied, by the smearing time, by the difference of ares sampled during smearing. By means of these there are erroneous. In the future the apparatus will be developed as a portable apparatus measuring smear activity automatically by adding radiation detection instrument.

플라즈마트론을 이용한 금속 방사성 폐기물 제염처리연구

  • 원자력 발전소 고리 1호기의 해체가 결정됨에 따라 발전소를 구성한 금속기기의 제염처리가 대두되고 있다. 금속 방사성폐기물 중 상당수는 그 자체가 방사성 오염 물질이라기보다는 오염 핵종이 표면에 부착하고 있는 경우가 많아 제염 공정을 거쳐 폐기한다면 보관해야 하는 양을 획기적으로 줄일 수 있을 것이다. 이에 따라 본 연구실에서는 플라즈마트론을 이용한 방사성 폐기물 건식제염처리에 대하여 연구하였다. 본 실험에서는 방사성을 띄지 않는 동위원소 Co sheet와 DC 플라즈마트론을 사용하였다. Ar 1000 sccm을 고정으로 비율(10:0, 9:1, 8:2, 7:3, 6:4), 거리(20 mm, 30 mm 40 mm), 시간(60 sec, 120 sec, 180 sec)을 변수로 두어 실험하였다. 결과적으로 기체의 혼합비가 4:1일 때 최대 식각율 $9.24{\mu}m/min$을 확인했다.
