  • The purpose of study was to analysis on the effects of radiation-counseling convergence education on radiation awareness. The survey objects were students of radiation-counseling convergence education from 12th May to 22th June in 2016. The questionnaires were education satisfactions and radiation awareness (risk, benefit, control) by Likert-type 5 scales. The analysis results revealed that education satisfactions of men students showed a significant higher female students and correlation coefficient of education satisfactions were the best high in the benefit and control of radiation. Finally radiation-counseling convergence education had a significant effect on radiation benefit. This convergence education influenced positive recognition on radiation benefit and it was indicated that radiation-counselors could treat clients on the basis of radiation benefit.

  • In informational confusion of complicated society, self-esteem is considered as important psychological and temperamental factors for self-recognition and self-realization of youths. In this study, we found factors that affect self-esteem by investigating general characteristics and emotional intelligence of college student majoring in Radiological Science. The results showed that, in terms of general characteristics, age affects overall self-esteem, sex and school record affect a social self-esteem, and health affects self-esteem within the family as well as overall and social self-esteem.

  • The purpose of this study would like to investigate the effect of major satisfaction on the career decision commitment for students in department of radiological science. Using the structured questionnaire we perform the self-report survey for 218 students. As a result, the degree of major satisfaction for students is found to be mid-range, and the degree of career decision commitment for ones is lowest in the first graders and the highest in the fourth graders. A notable point is that the degree of major satisfaction seems to have a significant influence on career decision commitment. Especially, it was found that major of pride is the most influential factor in career decision commitment. From this study, finally, it seems that a method to improve the career decision commitment is needed because the degree of career decision commitment of students is assessed to be fairly lowered at a level of non-commitment.

  • In this paper, we make silicon photodiodes for the detection of pulsed radiation that affects electronics devices and study the output characteristics of photodiodes using circuit design. We conducted the simulation for pulse sensing circuit and experimented the photodiode output characteristics using a high luminance light emitting diode. The results can be used for the design of the input sensor that is trigger of additional module for protecting a electoronics circuit from high energy pulse radiation.

  • Kori unit 1, the oldest commercial nuclear power plant in South Korea, was permanently shut down in June 2017. There are a lot of things to consider in decommissioning nuclear power plants, and one of them is the radiological environmental impact assessment. Performed to promote the health and safety of residents around the nuclear power plant, radiological environmental impact assessment aims to confirm that off-site radiological dose from radioactive material released from the facility does not exceed the regulatory criteria. There are three main parts of environmental impact assessment: pre-decommissioning environmental monitoring, environmental monitoring during decommissioning, and impact on nearby residents. At present, although the Korea Nuclear Safety Act stipulates that radiological environmental impact assessment resulting from decommissioning should be carried out, the details have not been specified. Therefore, this paper compares and analyzes guidelines for evaluation of radiological environmental impacts of nuclear power plants overseas, and presents a draft on the assessment of radiological dose resulting from decommissioning according to the Korean situation.

• The purpose of this study was to analyze the knowledge, attitudes, safety management behavior, and radiation anxiety of dental hygienists and to analyze affecting factors in order to improve the level of radiation safety management and reduce anxiety. The study period consisted of 280 dental hygienists working in Jeollabuk-do from September 10 to October 31, 2017 using the SPSS 12.0 program, frequency, descriptive statistics, and multiple regression analysis. The average knowledge level of radiation quality control was 8.07, and the correct answer rate was 75.3%. The attitude level was 96.1%, and the radiation safety management behavior was 4.11 for the photographer and 4.58 for the 'always wear a TLD (personal dosimeter) during radiography'. Patient radiation safety management behavior was 3.86, and the highest was '4.69' to confirm pregnancy of the woman before radiography. Radiation-covered lining was 3.86, and was the highest at 4.13 for 'I am concerned about fetal health when I am pregnant'. Factors affecting radiation exposure anxiety were lower radiation safety management behaviors, lower age, lower radiographic experience, higher educational background, higher monthly income, and higher job title (p<0.05). Based on the above results, dental hygienists had strong knowledge, attitudes, and safety management practices for radiation quality control. However, since anxiety related to radiation exposure was high, it is possible to improve radiation safety management level and reduce radiation exposure anxiety.
