  • Agricultural products produced in the agricultural area around the nuclear power plant are radioactive contamination, which can cause radioactive contamination to the human body. The purpose of this study was to investigate the limit of the radioactivity concentration $^{90}Sr$ for the internal exposure dose evaluation by ingesting the agricultural products collected around the nuclear power plant. The results of the gamma-isotope element analysis were freshly <0.0166-0.0336 Bq / kg for all samples and for artificial radionuclides not detected, and fresh <0.00586-0.0421 Bq / kg for Chinese cabbage, The freshness was 0.106 Bq / kg, and the freshness was 0.0114-0.0901 Bq / kg. 0.0177%, 0.0222%, 0.0376% and 0.00243%, respectively, for Chinese cabbages and large roots, which is lower than the legal standard value of $1mSv/yr{\cdot}man%$.   • The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident of Japan in 2011 on kindergarten parents' perception about irradiated foods and radioactive-contaminated foods. This study analysed the 178 questionnaire forms out of 205 parents of 'K' and 'M' kindergarten in the region of 'J' city. The findings of the study indicated that the Japanese nuclear power plant accident exerted an influence on anxious of kindergarten parents about irradiated foods and radioactive-contaminated foods. In conclusion, The full-fledged publicity and parent education are required to improve the perception and understanding of kindergarten parents about irradiated foods and the differences between it and radioactive-contaminated foods.

  • PERALS(Photon Electron Rejecting Alpha Liquid Scintillation) spectrometry coupled with solvent extraction method has been set up for the analysis of $^{222}Rn\;and\;^{226}Ra$ in the groundwater. This analytical method offers low background, better energy resolution and lower quenching problem than the other techniques. By the analysis of NIST SRM 4966 $^{226}Ra$ standard, the analytical accuracy and precision were found to be 3% and 1%, respectively, and the relative standard deviation of the recovery of Rn extraction between pH2 and pH10 was 7%. Detection limits of $^{222}Rn$ and $^{226}Ra$ for 10 hours counting were counted to be $0.42 pCi/{\iota}\;and\;0.016 pCi/{\iota}$, respectively. For the test analysis of $^{222}Rn\;and\;^{226}Ra$ in the graundwater, hot spring water samples of 17 regions were analyzed. The concentration of $^{222}Rn$ were in the range of $90{\sim}5200pCi/{\iota}$ and average value was $1470pCi/{\iota}\;^{226}Ra$ concentration showed a peak value of $97.9pCi/{\iota}$ in a Kangwon region, but the average value was $1.14pCi/{\iota}$ except that region.

Evaluation of Artificial Radionuclides in Berries (장과류의 방사능 안전성 평가)

  • To ensure food safety of berries from radioactive contamination, radioactivity monitoring was conducted with a total 258 samples of the berries and processed berry products distributed in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, from 2016 to 2018. The concentration of artificial radionuclides, 131I, 134Cs and 137Cs, was analyzed using gamma-ray spectrometry. 131I and 134Cs were not detected above the MDA (Minimum Detectable Activity) value from any of the samples. However, the range of radioactivity concentration of 137Cs was 0.69-808.90 Bq/kg in 39 cases of berries. 137Cs was detected at 0.70-3.29 Bq/kg from 6 cases of domestic berries, which were manufactured from imported raw materials. Among 33 cases of imported berries, 137Cs was detected at 0.69-808.90 Bq/kg. The concentrations of 137Cs in 1 case of blueberry powder product (808.90 Bq/kg) and 2 cases of lingonberry powder products (103.93, 188.46 Bq/kg) exceed domestic maximum radioactivity limits, and these were detected in the berries from Poland. These results suggest that monitoring system for imported berries and processed berry products should be continuously intensified to secure food safety.

  • 고리, 월성, 울진, 영광 등4개 원전부지와 하나로 연구용 원자로 부지에 대해 방사성물질의 대기 중 누출사고 발생 시 대축척 전자지도와 연계한 사고정보 파악, 예상피해분석, 방재시설 및 소개정보 활용 등을 통해 중앙정부 및 지방자치단체가 방사능 물질 피해지역관리 및 신속하고 효율적인 주민대응조치 수립을 위한 의사 결정 지원할 수 있는 방사능방재 지리정보시스템 구축이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 고리, 월성, 울진, 영광, 대전지역의 원자력 발전소 및 연구용 원자로 반경 40km이내 지역의 행정경계, 도로, 등고, 수계, 건물 등의 일반지형지물정보와, 비상계획구역 내 마을의 상세정보, 집결지, 대피소, 교통통제소, 환경방사능감시기, TLD등의 방재시설물 위치 및 관련 상세정보, 관공서, 경찰서, 소방서, 보건소, 학교, 병원 등의 방재관련 지형지물 위치 및 관련 상세정보, 원전부지 내 인구분포, 보유 차량 분포, 농작물 재배 현황, 축산물 재배현황 등의 방재관련 사회통계정보를 포함하는 공간 및 속성 데이터베이스는 구축하였다. 이를 기반으로 방사선 피폭영향 평가시스템(FADAS)의 예상평가결과를 전자지도 상에 표출하고, 이에 근거한 예상피해를 분석하며, 소개단계 대상 마을 검색 및 바람장 분석을 활용한 소개경로 제시 등을 통해 주민보호조치 의사결정을 지원하며, 사고대응 및 소개현황 정보를 관리하는 웹 기반의 원자력방재 지리정보시스템을 확대 개발하였다. 방재시설물 및 방재관련 지형지물, 방재관련 사회통계자료의 검색기능 및 실시간 원전 바람장 정보조회, 실시간 ERMS 수집정보 조회, 수치예보 정보 조회, 온라인DB관리 등의 확대 구현을 통해 사고대응조치 및 피해분석업무를 지원하였다. 본 연구를 통한 원자력방재 지리정보시스템 완성을 통해 방사능 비상시 중앙본부와 지역본부 및 유관기관 간에 지리정보와 연계한 정확한 사고정보 및 방재정보의 신속한 공유를 제공하고, 적절한 비상대응조치 의사결정 및 주민보조조치 수행을 지원하여 효율적인 사고지역 관리 및 인적 물적 자원의 피해를 최소화하는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on Distribution of Cs-137 and Sr-90 in Soils around Taejon Region (대전지역 토양에 대한 Cs-137 및 Sr-90 방사능농도 분포 조사)

  • The concentration of Cs-137 and Sr-90 has been analyzed in soils around Taejon region. A correalation was found between the concentration of Cs-137 and the organic matter content. The mean value of Cs-137 was 14.37Bq/kg-dry and that of Sr-90 was 7.95Bq/kg-dry in undisturbed soils around Taejon region. The concentration ratio of Cs-137/Sr-90 was 1.99. The distribution of Cs-137 and Sr-90 was similar to cumulative fallout level and had been more affected by nuclear weapons test than by the chernobyl accident.

  • 99mTcO4- is used to measure thyroid uptake. When measuring background radioactivity of the thigh, the distance between the detector and the thigh was 20 cm at a position 10 cm above the knee from the knee to the pelvis. At 25 cm, many hospitals are measuring at different distances. The purpose of this study was to study the difference in effectiveness in obtaining the thyroid uptake rate by quantitatively analyzing the uptake rate measurement at two distances. As a result, the average thyroid uptake rate measured at 20 cm in the thigh of 50 patients was 3.532±4.312%, and the average thyroid uptake rate measured at 25 cm was 3.680±4.304%. As a result of the thyroid uptake rate test result, the femoral background radioactivity value measured at a distance of 20 cm was relatively higher than the background radioactivity value measured at a distance of 25 cm, and as a result, the thyroid uptake rate was 0.148% lower.
