  • In this study, we proceed if there are any changes in binding ability of receptor-ligand in some degree of SA and in radioactive uptake from the corpus striatum based on small animal experiment in vivo based on the S.A values. By dividing 18F-Fallypride into 3 S.A values(high S.A : 43.29~74 GBq/umol, ordinary S.A : 20.72~29.23 GBq/umol, low S.A : 6.29~8.51 GBq/umol), we injected directly into the veins and performed 90 minutes of dynamic scan using Micro PET. After scanning, we compared and analyzed with Binding Potential (Binding Potential) from the bilateral striatum. high SA and low SA, ordinary SA and low SA showed significant differences. Also, in the image comparison using 18F-Fallypride show high radioactive uptake in the striatum at high SA and ordinary SA, but the radioactive uptake at low SA is lower than other two SA. Since 18F-Fallypride has affinity to dopamine D2/3 pharmacokinetic, the difference of Binding Potentials at decreased level of SA values was not that significant. However, further PET research of the corpus striatum using 18F-Fallypride is necessary because the differences in images and Binding Potentials at 6.5 times smaller SA values compared to high SA value showed were significant.

  • In this paper, using statistical theory the basic concepts and the formulars of lower limit of detection were deasribed. Assuming that risks of 5% are acceptable (95% confidence level), lower limits of detection were calculated on the measuring apparatus for alpha, beta and gamma nuclides. Also, on the basis concepts of lower limit of detection, the MDA values were calculated for the radionuclides detected easily in the environment. These results make it possible to evaluate confidence limits on the radioanalytical results in the environmental sample.

  • Obviously, the administration of the prescribed amount of activity to the patient requires proper operation of the dose calibrator, which shall be verified by implementing the required quality control on the instrument. This investigation examined the accuracy and precision of dose calibrator activity measurement of the radiopharmaceutical F-18 FDG. To investigate the status of the nuclear medicine centers in Korea for the performance of dose calibrators, 10 centers providing PET/CT system services in Korea were inspected in 2008. We measured accuracy and precision in 10 equipments in consideration of PET/CT model, installation area, and installation time. According to the results of comparative analysis of 10 dose calibrators used to measure radioactivity of F-18 FDG, accuracy was -5.00~4.50% and precision was 0.05~0.45%, satisfying the international standards, which are accuracy ${\pm}$10% and precision ${\pm}$5%. This study demonstrated that, for accurate measurements, no adjustment is necessary for a dose calibrator setting when measuring different dose calibrators of F-18 FDG activity prescriptions.

  • In this paper, we propose a measurement system for measuring radioactivity detected in an indoor environment. This is to measure and prevent radiation generated in various spaces such as general house, workplace, and research institutes. Multi-radioactivity sensors are used to measure multiple spaces simultaneously. The measured radioactivity data is transmitted to the PC in real time through ZigBee and monitored. Even with a small amount of radioactivity, it is considered that it must be installed in a place where radiation exposure is expected, such as a laboratory or workplace, for prevention from chronic radiation syndrome.

  • Although the national radiological emergency response system has been improved by incorporating lessons from the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident and recent domestic natural disasters, it has not fully incorporated these lessons. In addition, it cannot deal with a variety of aftermath of the radiological disaster. Even for the same disaster, the national emergency response system should comply with multiple domestic laws in our country. Furthermore, there are a few discrepancies between the articles of the domestic laws that the national radiological emergency response system should address. Therefore, this study investigates the characteristics of radiological disasters, examines articles on the domestic laws related to the national radiological emergency response system, and analyses the Japanese government's responses to the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident. Based on the results of the review, suggestions for the improvement of the national radiological emergency response system in terms of response organization and framework have been proposed in this study.

  • Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups have tried to obtain the radioactive material which could be used to make a dirty bomb. Their documents relating to the dirty bomb were found in the January 2003. International communities especially, the United States has made efforts to improve regulation and security of radioactive material for protecting the public from radiological attacks. This study examines the possibility of radiological terrorism and the radiological dispersal devices which could be used by determined terrorists, and international status and prospects to respond radiological terror.
