Brightness Degradation of Projection TV with Plastic Coupler (플라스틱 커플러를 채용한 프로젝션 TV의 휘도저감)

  • In general the cooling of projection TV is realized with aluminum coupler and coolant. A new type of projection TV with plastic coupler is discussed. Compared with an aluminum coupler, the plastic coupler has the advantage of cost, but is not as good as aluminum one in cooling performance. Therefore it is thought that there may be some problems such as brightness degradation induced by insufficient cooling andit is needed to investigate the relation between phosphor brightness and temperature variation. In this paper, a procedure is developed to predict the brightness degradation of CRT in projection TV with plastic coupler. Thermal analysis for CRT in projection TV is performed using FEM (finite element method).

Improvement of Color Reproduction Using Gamma and CCT Correction on Small LCD Display for Mobile Phone (휴대폰용 소형 LCD 디스플레이에서 감마 및 상관 색온도 보정을 이용한 색재현 성능 향상)

  • Color reproduction of small LCD display is quite different from that of standard CRT due to the difference of physical, electrical, and optical characteristics. In this paper, we propose a simple and practical method using gamma and CCT correction for improvement of color reproduction on a small LCD display. First, we investigate characteristics of a small LCD display such as brightness, uniformity, color temperature, white and black balance, and nonlinear gamma. And, we also analyze color reproduction region and CCT trajectory according to LCD's input levels. Finally, the optimum gamma and CCT compensation method using LUT is proposed, and our proposed method was realized at mobile phone without hardware modification. In the experimental results, the result image of proposed algorithm is more close to standard color.

Physicochemical Characteristics on Main and Fine root of Ginseng Dried by Various Temperature with Far-Infrared drier (원적외선 건조온도에 따른 백삼의 주근과 세근의 이화학적 특성)

  • To find up using of more efficient white ginseng, white ginseng was dried on various temperature (70, 80, 90,100, 110, 120, 130 and $140^{\circ}C$) with far-infrared drier and analyzed the composition of ginsenoside, carbohydrate, organic acid content and color. The type of ginseng shape was sliced and dried main and fine root, separately. As heating temperature increased, total ginsenoside content increased on main root, its content was the highest at $130^{\circ}C$, while decreased on fine root. Soluble carbohydrate content was the highest at $70^{\circ}C$ both on main and fine root. Increase of Re, Rc and Rb2 content was increased more high at $130^{\circ}C$, especially. But on fine root, content of Rg1, Rg3, Rf and Rb3 was increased and Re, Rc,Rb1 and Rb2 were decreased by the increased of temperature. As heating temperature increased, lightness of both main and fine root were decreased. Redness and yellowness of both main and fine root was increased to $120^{\circ}C$ and $100^{\circ}C$, respectively and decreased over this temperature.

Effects of Immersion Temperatures and Times on Chestnut Fruit and Mortality of the Chestnut Weevil, Curculio sikkimensis Heller (밤바구미 방제를 위한 온도 및 시간별 침지처리 효과와 종실 변화)

  • To control populations of the chestnut weevil, Curculio sikkimensis Heller, the effects of various immersion temperatures and times on the chestnut weevil were tested. The effects of immersion treatments on chestnut fruits were also analyzed. The mortality levels of C. sikkimensis larvae were evaluated at various temperatures ($30^{\circ}C$, $35^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, $45^{\circ}C$, and $50^{\circ}C$) and time intervals (1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 22, and 24 h). Changes in the chestnut fruit due to the immersion treatment were measured in terms of color (lightness, redness, and yellowness), physiological effects (germination rate and decay rate), hardness, and change in constituent properties (moisture content, free sugar content, and tannin content). Mortality levels of C. sikkimensis larvae after immersion treatment at $30^{\circ}C$ were over 70% and 100% after 2 h and 7 h, respectively. Color (lightness, redness, and yellowness) of the chestnut fruits was not significantly different at $30^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C;$ however, the color was affected at temperatures over $40^{\circ}C$. The germination rate of the fruit was not affected by the immersion treatments, but the decay rate at $40^{\circ}C$ increased with an increase in immersion time. The hardness of the fruits decreased with an increase in immersion times and temperatures. These results can be used in the future for developing methods for the control of chestnut weevil populations.

  • According to increase of preference to the large display device, demand of a three-tube projection TV increase in the display market. But luminance per unit area of a 3-tube projection TV is less bright than that of original one -tube TV The color gamut of phosphor used in the projection TV is different to standard gamut of phosphor in NTSC. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between coordinates of RGB phosphor and RGB beam currents according to the color temperature in projection HDTV. We also proposed the range of reference white which maximize the luminance that viewer feel based on both Helmholtz-Kohlrausch effect which is visual property and degradation of image according to the change of beam profile by current-ratio.

  • 외계행성 연구는 외계생명체 발견과 밀접한 관계가 있으므로 선진국에서는 국가중점연구로 지정하여 연구에 집중하고 있는 기초학문 연구분야다. 기초학문 연구분야이다. 외계행성 연구는 현재까지 발견을 위주로 행해져 왔고, 그 결과 수백 개의 외계행성이 발견되는 성과를 얻을 수 있었다. 최근에는 지구의 크기와 온도에 근접하는 외계행성이 발견이 언론에 소개 되기도 하였다. 외계행성의 분광 연구는 지금까지 그 밝기가 아주 어두운 관계로 Broad band 관측이 주로 행해졌다 (e.g., Swain et al. 2010). 그러나 최근 3-m급 망원경과 중분산 분광기를 사용한 연구에서 구체적인 적외선 분광구조가 드러나게 되었다 (e.g., Waldmann et al. 2012). 따라서 앞으로 GMT의 분광기를 사용하여 상당히 구체적인 분광구조 관측이 가능하리라고 예측 할 수 있게되었다. 이번 발표에서는 GMT분광기들을 사용한 외계행성 적외선 분광 연구를 원활히 수행하기 위한 준비 단계로 태양계 행성에 대한 국내외 적외선 분광 연구 현황을 논의 하고자 한다.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경의 중요한 이슈 중 하나인 상황인식은 컴퓨팅환경(예를 들어 가용 처리장치, 사용자 입력과 표시를 위한 장치, 네트워크 수용량, 다른 기기와의 접속용이성 및 컴퓨팅비용 등), 사용자 환경(위치, 주위 사람들과의 접촉, 사회적 입장 등) 및 물리적 환경(밝기, 소음, 온도 등)이 지속적으로 변화하는 수행 환경에서 인간으로 하여금 본연의 목적을 달성하는데 집중할 수 있도록 지원하는 인간 친화적인 시스템을 제공하기 위한 필수 기술이다. 이러한 상황인식을 이용하여, 사람이나 장소 및 사물의 입장이나 처지 혹은 관계 등을 특징 지을 수 있는 신원, 위치, 상태(혹은 활동) 및 시간의 4가지 상황정보를 고려한 학습이 이루어지도록 지원함으로써 학습에 있어서의 접근용이성과 적응성을 높이기 위한 컨텐츠 전승제어 시스템을 제안한다.

  • 본 논문은 LED 조명에 ICT 기술을 적용하여 인간 친화적이고 전력 소비를 절감하는 디밍 제어 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 조도 센서를 활용하여 밝기에 따른 LED 디밍 제어와 온도 센서 값에 따른 화재 위험 감지 기능 그리고 블루투스 통신을 사용하여 사용자의 스마트폰으로 화재 위험 정보를 전송하고 각종 센서의 통계치 그래프를 제공한다. 본 논문은 스마트폰 앱으로 실제 환경과 같은 구조물을 구현하고 앱 상에서 LED 조명을 직접 제어할 수 있도록 하며, 앱 상에서 제어된 디밍은 실제 환경의 조명에서도 동시에 적용되도록 구현한다.

  • 본 논문은 파충류 시장의 활성화와 파충류 사육 부담감을 해소하고자 사육자들에게 편리하고 접근성이 높은 서비스를 제공하는 파충류 사육을 위한 스마트 환경제어시스템을 제공한다. 본 논문이 제시하는 주요한 기능은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사육장 내 습도를 미스팅 시스템과 팬을 통해 제어를 한다. 둘째, 사육장 내 온도를 조광기를 활용한 스팟 램프의 밝기 조절을 통해 제어한다. 셋째, 파충류 먹이 공급 및 물 공급을 자동화하여 체계적인 식단을 관리한다. 넷째, 적외선 감지 센서를 통한 데이터를 활용해 파충류의 활동량과 탈피 및 질병의 가능성을 예상한다. 제안된 시스템은 IoT 기술을 접목함으로써 현대 사회에서 추구하는 편리함과 기존 파충류 사육의 번거로움을 해소하는 것을 목표로 한다.

Estimation of Total Precipitable Water from MODIS Infrared Measurements over East Asia (MODIS 적외 자료를 이용한 동아시아 지역의 총가강수량 산출)

  • In this study the retrieval algorithms have been developed to retrieve total precipitable water (TPW) from Terra/Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) infrared measurements using a physical iterative retrieval method and a split-window technique over East Asia. Retrieved results from these algorithms were validated against Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) over ocean and radiosonde observation over land and were analyzed for investigating the key factors affecting the accuracy of results and physical processes of retrieval methods. Atmospheric profiles from Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System (RDAPS), which produces analysis and prediction field of atmospheric variables over East Asia, were used as first-guess profiles for the physical retrieval algorithm. We used RTTOV-7 radiative transfer model to calculate the upwelling radiance at the top of the atmosphere. For the split-window technique, regression coefficients were obtained by relating the calculated brightness temperature to the paired radiosonde-estimated TPW. Physically retrieved TPWs were validated against SSM/I and radiosonde observations for 14 cases in August and December 2004 and results showed that the physical method improves the accuracy of TPW with smaller bias in comparison to TPWs of RDAPS data, MODIS products, and TPWs from split-window technique. Although physical iterative retrieval can reduce the bias of first-guess profiles and bring in more accurate TPWs, the retrieved results show the dependency upon initial guess fields. It is thought that the dependency is due to the fact that the water vapor absorption channels used in this study may not reflect moisture features in particular near surface.
