This presentation firstly is discussed the characteristics of estrus, the time of first postpartum estrus, and the relative accurate of various estrus detection aids and secondly discussed the abnormalities of estrus and ovarian function and its control by treatment of exogenous hormones in cattle and pig. Longer estrus cycles as well as the shorter than 18 day cycles showed the lowered conception rates as compared to the normal cycles of 18 to 25 days. Other characteristics of est겨s such as duration of estrus, intensity of estrus and time of estrus are reviewed to affect fertility. The first postpartum ovulation and estrus in cows usually occurs about 20 to 30 days and 40 to 50 days after parturition, respectively. Irregularities in estrus cycle length have been conducted during early postpartum period. In sows, weaning is followed by ovulation and estrus although there is some individual variation. The most common method of estrus detection is direct visual observation on standing estrus behavior, but various aids of estrus detection have been empolyed with varying degree of effectiveness. The results from heat detector devices are about as accurate as twice-daily observation(about 90%). The abnormal estrus can be classified into three types; irregular or continuous estrus, silent estrus and anestrus. Cystic ovarian disease, follicular cysts and luteal cysts, is a serious cause of reproductive failure in cattle and pig. The follicular cysts are much more common than luteal cysts and the incidence of ovarian cysts in dairy cattle is higher than beef cattle and pig. The occurrences of ovarian cysts have been closely associated with levels of milk production, stages of postpartum period, nutritional levels and seasons. The luteal cysts and persistent corpora lutea are responsive to the luteolytic effects of the recently synthetic analogues of PGF2$\alpha$ in cows and sows and recently GnRH or LH-RH has been successfully used as a treatment for cows and sows with ovarian follicular cysts.

Early detection of oestrus in Korean cows is one of the important issues in maximizing the economic benefit. Although various methods have been proposed, we still need to improve the performance of the oestrus detection system. In this paper, we propose a video surveillance system which can detect unusual behavior of multiple cows including the mounting activity. The unusual behavior detection is to detect the dangerous or abnormal situations of cows in video coming in real time from a surveillance camera promptly and correctly. The prototype system for unusual behavior detection gets an input video from a fixed location camera, and uses the motion vector to represent the motion information of cows in video, and finally selects a SVDD (one of the most well-known types of one-class SVM) as a detector by reinterpreting the unusual behavior into an one class decision problem from the practical points of view. The experimental results with the videos obtained from a farm located in Jinju illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

This study determined the effects of several reproductive factors at prostaglandin $F_{2{\alpha}}\;(PGF_{2{\alpha}})$ administration on the subsequent estrous exhibition and conception. Three hundreds and twenty six dairy cows in seven dairy herds received a 25 mg $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ after confirming the presence of corpus luteum (CL) by ultrasonography, and the cows exhibited estrus within 7 days following $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ administration were artificially inseminated (AI). Two hundreds cows among the 326 cows received additional ultrasonography at $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ administration to measure the diameters of the largest follicle and CL on ovaries, and blood samples collected from the cows were analyzed for serum progesterone (P4) level. Cow parity, days open, body condition score (BCS), season and herd variables were recorded. Of the treated 326 cows, 171 cows (52.5%) showed estrus within 7 days after treatment, and the conception rate following AI was 37.4% (64/171). There were significant differences on the estrous exhibition ($31.3{\sim}65.8%$, p<0.01) and conception rates ($23.1{\sim}66.7%$, p<0.05) among the herds, while cow parity, days open, BCS and season did not affect the subsequent estrous exhibition and conception rates. The diameters of the largest follicle and CL on ovaries, and serum P4 level at the $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ administration were not related to the subsequent estrous exhibition and conception. The results indicate that the improved outcomes of synchronization of estrus using a single $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ administration may be related to the appropriate management of the herd.
To establish the method of estrus induction using the injection of PGF$_2$$\alpha$ㆍ the 60 dairy cows treated by PGF$_2$$\alpha$ㆍ at 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 day of estrous cycle, recpectively. The plasma progesterone concentrations at day of injection of PGF$_2$$\alpha$ㆍ were $1.5\pm$1.3 (mean$\pm$SD) ng/ml at 6 days of estrous cycle, 3.7$\pm$1.4 ng/ml at 8 days, 6.5$\pm$1.8 ng/ml at 10 days, 7.9$\pm$2.0 ng/ml at 12 days, 6.5$\pm$2.5 ng/ml at 14 days, and 2.5$\pm$1.2 ng/m] at 16 days, respectively. The percentages of induction of estrus after PGF$_2$$\alpha$ㆍ treatment were 52.8% at 3th day after treatment, 21.7% at 4th day, 8.3% within 2th day, and ] 7.2% after 5th day, respectively. The percentages of cows conceived at first service after induction of estrus were 73.3% on 16 days of estrous cycle at treatment, 66.7% on 10 and 14 days, 63.3% on 8 and 12 days, and 53.3% on 6 day, respectively. The percentages of cows conceived on first service were 70.5% at 3th day after induction, 66.7% at 4th day and 65% at 5th day, respectively. These results suggest that the PGF$_2$$\alpha$ㆍ treatment at regressing stage of corpus luteum showed high induction of estrus and pregnancy rate, and there were high induction of estrus and pregnancy rate at 3th and 4th day after PGF$_2$$\alpha$ㆍ treatment.

Cattle behavior detection system based on Internet of Things is designed and implemented by using gyroscope and acceleration sensor, Arduino pro-mini and bluetooth module. The implemented system measures cattle's moving and the measured data are transmitted to smart phone by bluetooth module. They are displayed by 2-dimensional graph on the smart phone and the number of cattle's step are calculated from the graph. The detected and gathered data from the system are analyzed by the proposed algorithm to decide which cows are in the estrus or not, and the proposed system can be used to increase the success rate of artificial insemination in normal estrus by detecting cow's behaviors such as the number of steps and jumping. In this paper, the implemented cattle behavior detecting system are strapped on cattle's leg and it measures cattle behaviors for determining that a cattle is estrus or not by the proposed algorithm. In the future research, the system which lengthens communication distance and increases the number of cattle under the test will be considered and also the measured data will be database for cattle research.

In this paper, by using the cattle feed intake, rumination, and in heat monitoring technology, RFI (Residual Feed Intake) monitoring and wearable devices and PCs for predicting abnormalities in budding target web and smart A monitoring system using a phone application was designed and implemented. With the development of this system, the farmer is expected to increase economic efficiency. By analyzing the feed intake, it is possible to identify the difference between the recommended feed amount based on the cow's weight and the feed amount consumed by the cow, and it is expected that early detection of metabolic disorders (abnormality of metabolism) is possible. Farmers using the results of this thesis can distinguish the cows with the most efficient performance, and the 6-axis motion sensor signals input from the wearable device attached to the cow's skin (neck) and the microphone attached to the wearable device. It is possible to measure the cow's rumination and feed intake through the sound of the cow's throat. In the future, improvements will be made to measure additional vital signs such as heart rate and respiration.

Implementation of livestock smart-farm can be done more effectively with IoT technology developing. An build of useful stock management system can be possibile if push messages of these judgement are notified on smart-phone after cattle's illness and estrus are judged using IoT technology. These judgement method of cattle's illness and estrus can be done with gathering living stock data using temperature sensor and 3 axis acceleration sensor and sending these data using IoT and internet network into server, and studying AI machine learning using these data. In this paper, to build this cattle management system based on IoT, effective system of the whole architecture is showed. Also an effective analysis and design method to develop this system software will be presented by showing user requirement analysis using object-oriented method, flowchart and screen design.
This study was conducted to determine the effects of progestagen (Synchromate-B, Veramix, CIDR) and hormone (PMSG, FSH, hCG) treatments on superovulation and estrous synchronization in Korean native goats. Goats were initially superovulated by using progestagens (Synchromate-B, Veramix, CIDR) and hormones (FSH, PMSG, hCG). The progestagens were removed after 15 days of insertion and 0.88 mg of FSH was injected intramuscularly twice a day from day 12 to day 15. In addition, 150 IU of PMSG and 200 IU hCG were injected intramuscularly in the morning of day 12 and in the afternoon of day 15, respectively. Estrous synchronization was induced by the progestagen releasing devices for 13 days and intramuscular injection of 400 IU PMSG in the morning of day 11. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The responses of superovulation treated with three types (Synchromate-B, Veramix, CIDR) of progestagen were 98.6, 99.4 and 98.8%, respectively. The average ovulation rates with Synchromate-B, Veramix and CIDR were 12.58 $\pm$ 6.52, 12.91 $\pm$ 7.27 and 11.28 $\pm$ 6.33, respectively. The average ovulation rates of Synchromate-B and Veramix treatments were significantly higher than that of the CIDR treatment (P<0.05). 2. The responses of estrus synchronization treated with Synchromate-B, Veramix and CIDR were 52.9, 72.9 and 75.7%, respectively. Veramix and CIDR treatments on estrous synchronization were significantly higher than the Synchromate-B treatment (P<0.05). Among the estrous synchronized goats, the estrous ovulation rates with Synchromate-B, Veramix and CIDR were 2.11 $\pm$ 1.89, 1.35 $\pm$ 0.87 and 1.43 $\pm$ 0.96, respectively. The estrous ovulation rates of the Synchromate-B treatment were significantly higher than those of the other treatments (P<0.05). 3. The average superovulation rates were 11.76 $\pm$ 6.00 and 11.07 $\pm$ 6.46 for the PMSG treatment and control groups, showing that there was no PMSG effects for the superovulation treated with CIDR.
Numerous hormones are involved in the regulation of reproduction. Among them, estrogen and progesterone are the most important ovarian steroid hormones regulating female fertility. On the other hand, diverse stressors impede female receptivity and fertility. Since norepinephrine(NE) and epinephrine(E) are released from the adrenal during stress, it might play a role in stress-induced disruptions of fEmale reproductive parameters. The present study was performed to analyze the changes in adrenal catecholaminergic activities in cycling rats. The tissue content and secretion level of catecholamines were determined by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrochemical detector(HPLC-ECD). Adrenomedullary content of norepinephrine(NE) was increased on proestrus stage (59.47 $\pm$ 6.86 ug/gland), peaked on diestrus I stage(65.22 $\pm$ 5.99 ug/gland), and was nadir on diestrus II stage(41.63 $\pm$ 1.33 ug/gland). The highest E content was observed on proestrus stage(361.86 $\pm$ 15.58 ug/gland) while the lowest level was on diestrus II stage(285.58 $\pm$ 12.25 ug/gland). In addition to these observations, a significant reduction of the NE : E ratio was observed (1 : 4.81 on diestrus I vs 1 : 6.13~7.02 on other stages). In vitro secretion of adrenal NE and E was increased on proestrus stage, peaked on estrus stage, and decreased on diestrus II stage. Interestingly, the NE : E ratio in conditioned media was significantly increased on estrus stage (1 : 3.32 vs 1 : 2.34~2.65 on other stages. The biosynthesis of NE and E is mediated by tyrosine hydroxylase(TH) and phenylethanolamine-N-methyltransferase(PNMT) which acts conversion of tyrosine into DOPA and NE into E, respectively. These finding demonstrated that sex steroids, during setrous cycle, seem to be able to modify the adrenal catecholamines biosynthesis and secretion with stage-specific manner by modulation of the enzyme activities.
