This study analyzed the mediator effect of fear and helping responses on relationship between familiarity and discrimination based on the contact theory. We presented typical vignettes of schizophrenia, depression and alcoholism to 922 adults randomly. All respondents were asked for direct and indirect contact experiences with mental illness, fear and helping responses and discrimination against persons with mental illness. Our findings suggest that contact theory was not supported in every types of mental disorders. In schizophrenia, fear and help were the full mediator between familiarity and discrimination. In depression, only helping response was the mediator between familiarity and discrimination. But in alcoholism, familiarity did not predict discrimination. Based on theses findings, we suggest various anti-stigma strategies depending on the types of mental disorders.

On the construction of new roads, the cut slope is inevitable and thus has been widely applied in the mountainous area. Particularly, the retaining wall with the precast concrete panel is often selected for its higher stability and mostly constructed in bottom-up method. However, the bottom-up method results in steeper slope as 1:0.05 before constructiong retaining wall and thus causes poor compaction at backfill which may induce instability during or after the construction. To overcome this problem, precast concrete panel retaining wall was attached in-situ ground (so called top-down). This paper presents the evaluation of drainage capacity of top-down method which has impermeable layer between panel and mortar being used to increase the ability of attachment of the precast concrete panel.

Man-made slope is inevitable to make a new road, which may result in environmental problems as well as collapse of slope. To prevent these problems, various methods such as geogrid reinforced retaining wall, precast concrete-panel retaining wall, and so on, have been introduced and developed. Among these methods, this paper presents the evaluation of field application of precast concrete-panel retaining wall attached to in-situ ground (so called top-down) compared to the conventional construction method of precast concrete-panel retaining wall (so called bottom-up) through the field test and numerical analysis. As a result, the safety factor of both methods in final stage is similar, however, top-down method guarantees the slope stability during the construction compared to bottom-up method.

본 논문에서는 임베디드 리눅스와 uCOS-2 간 소스코드 변환에 대한 연구를 위해 API 정변환/역변환기(API 변환기)를 이용하여 두 RTOS 간 소스코드 변환을 실험한다. API 변환기는 임베디드 소프트웨어의 개발을 돕기 위해 개발된 프로그램으로서, 정변환과 역변환 기능을 이용하여 이종 RTOS 간 소스코드를 자동으로 상호 변환한다. 정변환이란 중간형태의 C-코드인 CIC 파일에서 특정 RTOS를 위한 C-코드로 변환하는 것을 의미한다. 반대로 역변환은 특정 RTOS를 위한 C-코드로부터 CIC 파일로 변환하는 것을 가리킨다. 본 논문의 실험에서는 임베디드 리눅스와 uCOS-2의 동기화 소스코드 예제를 API 변환기를 이용하여 상호 변환해본다. 그리고 변환된 소스코드의 정상동작 여부를 확인하기 위해 각각의 타깃보드 위에 소스코드를 포팅한다.

In this study, integration control of air-cell seat and semi-active suspension is proposed to minimize the road-tyre force which can cause uncomfortable feeling to rider. The proposed integration control with sliding perturbation observer is consisted of air-cell seat control which uses the force generated by air-cell and the sky-hook control. The air-cell seat itself has been modeled as a 1 degree of freedom spring-damper system. The actual characteristics of the air-cell have been analyzed through experiments. In this paper, we introduces a new robust motion control algorithm using partial state feedback for a nonlinear system with modelling uncertainties and external disturbances. The major contribution of this work is the development and design of robust observer for the state and the perturbation. The combination skyhook controller and air-cell controller using the observer improves control performance, because of the robust routine called Sliding Observer Design for Integration Control of Air-Cell Seat and Semi-active Suspension. The simulation results show a high accuracy and a good performance.

Under the knowledge-based economy in 21C, the convergence and complexity in science and technology are being more active. Therefore, we have science and technology are classified properly, make not easy to construct the system to new next generation area. Thus we suggest the systematic solution method to flexibly extend classification scheme in order for content management and service organizations. In this way, we expect that the difficult of classification scheme management is minimized and the expense of it is spared.

Hirsutella subulata (Hyphomycetes) was observed for the first time on diseased larvae of Chilo suppressalis in Korea. This fungus formed slender and slightly attenuated synnemata consisting of closely bound, longitudinal hyphae on the insect larvae. Typical characteristics of this species are ellipsoid or broadly obovoid phialides with slender, needle-like necks and asymmetric conidia. It is very similar to H. barberi but can be distinguished by its asymmetrical conidia.

We investigated the brain activity in perceiving the emotional stimuli between a science invention group(n=13) and a general group(n=13). The science invention group, which mostly consisted of recipients of creativity prizes, scored 96% on creative personality tests(WKOPAY, SAM), whereas the general group performed at an average level on these tests. Analyzing the brain activity in perceiving the emotional stimuli(IAPS pictures), the science invention group than the general group showed higher activity in certain areas, such as MTG, STG, and so on. When correlation analysis was performed on the creative personality score and brain activity, MTG, STG, and so on areas showed significant correlations. There were more correlation areas in valence than in arousal. These results show that scientific creativity is related to emotional susceptibility. Thus, we insist that emotion be considered in the assessment and education programs for the gifted in science.

In the course of this study aimed at the development of functional food ingredients from seaweeds, the in vitro antimicrobial activities of methanol extracts prepared from 35 different seaweeds (17 phaeophyta, 11 rhodophyta and 7 chlorophyta) were determined against food-borne diseases and pathogenic microorganisms including multi-drug resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas sp. and Candida sp. Based on disc-diffusion assays at 500 g/disc concentration of the methanol extracts, Ishige okamurai, I. foliacea, Sargassum confusum, and S. yamade exhibited strong antibacterial activities in a broad-spectrum, except against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition to the latter four seaweeds, Ecklonia stolonifera, E. cava and Eisenia bicyclis also demonstrated antifungal activity against C. albicans. Among these 8 selected seaweeds, I. okamurai, I. foliacea, and S. yamade exhibited strong hemolytic activity (55-93%) at 500 g/ml against human RBC. Organic solvent sequential fractions using hexane, ethylacetate and butanol, and water residues were prepared from the 8 selected seaweeds and their anti-Candida sp. activities were further determined. The ethylacetate and butanol fraction of I. okamurai, and the hexane fraction of I. foliacea demonstrated antifungal activity against MDR-pathogenic Candida sp. Although the solvent fractions had no activity against MDR-Pseudomonas sp., our results suggest that seaweeds, especially Ishige okamurai, I. foliacea, S. confusum, and S. yamade could be developed as broad-spectrum antimicrobial ingredients.

The study examined acculturation patterns of Korean-Americans living in Portland, USA and their relationship to the consumption of media contents. Under the academic guidance of Berry's acculturation model, the four strategies of acculturation model were extensively inquired that immigrants and sojourner would adopt in host culture: Integration, Assimilation, Separation and Marginalization. Furthermore, how differently the four acculturation modes are related to media contents was examined. For this study, the survey questionnaires were administered among Korean Americans in Portland, USA. The total 371 data were collected and analyzed. The result indicated that 1) they preferred integration(M=4.57) and separation modes(M=4.49) over assimilation (M=2.92); 2) as separation tendency increased, the preference of Korean contents over American contents increased while as assimilation tendency increased, the preference of American contents over Korean contents; 3) high assimilation persons consumed more news than entertainments in American media contents. Compared to it, high separation persons used more entertainments than news in American media contents and more news than entertainments in Korean media contents.
