반추수 심장질병의 진단을 위한 혈액화학적 연구 (Blood chemical research for the diagnosis of cardiac disease in ruminant)

  • In order to clarify the significance of serum CPK for the diagnosis of the cardiac disease in ruminant, the fluctuation of serum total CPK activities and CPK isoenzyme fractions was examined before and after operation in Korean native goats with artificially induced cardiac injury. In the change of serum total CPK activities, those of experimental group were changed with higher values than those of control group and significant increase was found on 2-week after operation(P<0.05). In the fluctuation of serum CPK isoenzyme fractions, significant increase of both CK1 and CK3 fractions was observed on 2-week after operation in experimental group(P<0.05), but significant difference was not found in CK2 fraction between experimental and control groups. From these findings, it is considered that taking note of increase of not only serum total CPK activities but also CK1 and CK3 fractions is important for the diagnosis of traumatic cardiac disease in ruminant.

조사료의 종류와 사료 내 영양소 수준이 흑염소의 반추위 in vitro 발효성상과 메탄생성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Different Forage Source and Nutrient Levels in Diet on in vitro Goat Rumen Fermentation and Methane Production)

  • The present study investigated the effect of forage sources and their inclusion levels in diet on the rumen fermentation of Korea traditional goat. Timothy and alfalfa were used as forage sources. Forages were mixed with concentrate diet in different ratios. The ratios of forage to concentrate diets were varied to 1:9, 5:5 and 9:1. The rumen fluid of goat was gathered from slaughter house. Dry matter digestibility was decreased and methane production was increased as forage levels in diet was increased. When forage sources, timothy and alfalfa, were compared, groups with timothy showed greater methane production than the groups of alfalfa. Molar ratio of produced acetate and valerate were increased when forage level in diet was increased. In the case of propionate and butyrate, they were decreased as elevated forage levels in diet. The result of this study provided a basic information for rumen fermentation of Korean traditional goat and these information could be applied in the development of nutritional and feeding strategy.

목건초의 정량급여시 소 반추행동의 변이성 (Variability of the Rumination-Behaviour in Strrrs fed a Constant Amount of Hay)

  • The variation of rumination response in steers fed a same amount of orcharugrass hay was investigated. With three steers (6, 12, 24 months) of the Japanese Black Breed, rumination behaviour was measured continuously during a 5 days period by masseter EMG telemetry system. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The average daily rumination time of respective animals were 438,447 and 433 min. with small daily variation both within and among animal. But the rumination time per DM kg of hay consumed varied from 66 to 138 min., and calf spent longer than older calf. 2. Actural chewing time showed small variation, and percentage of actural chewing time spent in rumination time was from 88 to 93% on individual average. 3. The daily number of chewing in rumination was approximately 25,000 to 30,000 with large individual differences. The chews per DM kg intake varied from 3,800 to 9,600, and calf chewed more than older calf. 4. The average rate of chewing per 100 sec. (chewing speed), there was a large difference between animals i.e. 104, 114, 131 respectively, but very little variance between days in individual. 5. No relation between day to day variations in eating time and rumination behavior, but significantly positive correlation was observed in the relation among rumination time, chewing time, No. of boluses and No. of chews. 6. Active time of day in rumination altered considerably day to day, but variation in the amount of rumination per day as expressed by the rumination time was relatively small.

실험적으로 유발시킨 산양의 제4위질병에 있어서 혈액 및 제1위액의 전해질치 변화 (Electrolyte Changes of Blood and Rumen Juice in Experimental Abomasal Diseases of Goats)

  • 반추수의 제4위질병시 혈액 및 제1위액의 전해질치 변화에 관해 알아보기 위해 산 양을 대상으로 실험적으로 제식위좌측전위, 제4위우측전위 및 제4위염전을 유발시켰다. 혈청내 $Cl^{-}$치는 제실킨좌측전위, 제4위우측전위 및 제4위염전 모두에서 시간이 경과함에 따라 감소경향 을 나타내었으며 이러한 경향은 제4위우측전위 및 제4위염전에서 더욱 현저하였다. 혈청내 $K^{+}$ 룽도는 제4위좌측전위 및 제4위우측전위에서는 실험 120시간 이후부터 감소경향을 나타내었 으며, 제4위염전에서는 24시간 이후부터 심한 감소경향을 나타내었다. 혈청내 $Na^{+}$치는 제4위좌측전위 및 제4위우측전위에서는 각각 48시간 및 72시간 이후부터 감소경향을 나타내었으며, 제4위염전에서는 24시간 이후부터 유의한 감소경향을 나타내었다. 제1위내 $Cl^{-}$치는 제4위좌측전위 및 제4위우측전위에서는 48시간 이후부터, 제4위염전에서는 12시간 이후부터 시간이 경과함에 따라 증가경향을 나타내었으나 $K^{+}및Na^{+}$농도는 유의한 변화가 인정되지 않았다.

반추수(反芻獸)의 내부기생충(內部寄生蟲)에 대한 Albendazole과 Ivermectin의 구충효과(驅蟲效果) (Anthelmintic Efficacy of Albendazole and Ivermectin Against Gastrointestinal Nematodes, Trematodes and Cestode in Korean Native Goats)

  • The anthelmintic efficacy of Albendazo1e and Ivermectin against gastrointestinal nematodes, trematodes and cestode was tested in naturally infected Korean native goats. Albendazole was medicated at a dose rate of 10mg/kg of body weight orally and Ivermectin was injected at a dose rate of 0.2mg/kg of body weight subcutaneously. The efficacy was measured by faecal examinations on the day 7th and the day 14th :after treatment. The results obtained were summarized as follows : 1. The efficacy of Albendazole against trematodes and cestode was shown 91.7% in Fasciola hepatica, 68.8% in Paramphislomum spp., 66.7% in Eurytrema pancreaticum and 100% in Moniezia expansa(cestode). 2. The efficacy of Ivermectin against trematodes and cestode was shown 38.8% in Fasciola hepalica, 26.1% in Paramphistomum spp., 22,2% in Eurytrema pancreaticum and 100% in Moniezia expansa(cestode). 3. The anthelmintic efficacy of Albendazole against gastrointestinal nematodes was shown 97.7% in Haemonchus contorus and 100% in Oesophagostomum spp., Ostertagia spp., Bunostomum trigonocephalum, Trichostrongylus spp., Strongyloides papillosus and Cooperia spp. 4. The efficacy of Ivermectin against gastrointestinal nematodes was shown 96.6% in Haemonchus contortus, 94.1% in Trichostrongylus spp. and 100% in Oesophagostomum spp., Ostertagia spp., Bunostomum trigonocephalum, Strongyloides papillosus and Cooperia spp.

  • 동물실험을 통하여 새로이 밝혀진 항암제(anti-initiator/anti-ptomotor)인 CLA는 grilled ground beef에서 처음 분리되었다. CLA는 grilled ground beef 외에도, cheese 및 이들 관련식품에 많이 존재한다. CLA는 반추동물의 위에 서식하는 혐기성 bacteria에 의해 linoleic acid로부터 생성되며, 식품 가공 중에서도 생성된다. 이것은 또한 in vivo에서 linoleic acid의 carbon centered free radical 형태의 산화에 의해 생성되기도 한다. CLA는 아주 강력한 항산화제임이 밝혀져, 지금까지 알려지 있지 않았는 free radical에 대응하여 membrane을 보호하는 in situ defense mechanism 역할을 한다. 이는 또한 cytochrome P450 isozyme의 활성을 저해하는 반면, ODC 효소 활성 역시 저해한다. 그래서, 적어도 CLA의 이 세가지 biological activity가 CLA 항암기작에 관여하는 것으로 생각된다.

청소년의 학업 스트레스가 우울증상에 미치는 영향과 반응양식의 조절효과 (The Effects of Academic Stress on Depression in Adolescents : The Moderating Role of Response Styles)

  • This study examined the effects of academic stress and response styles on depression in adolescents, focusing on the moderating role of responses styles. The subjects of this study comprised 419 high school students (185 boys and 234 girls) in two high schools. In order to measure the level of depression, the CES-D Scale (Radloff, 1977) was used. Academic stress and response styles were assessed by the Academic Stress Scale for adolescents (Lee & Kim, 2000) and the Response Styles Questionnaire (Kim, 1991) respectively. The data were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, t-test, and multiple regressions. The results indicated that for both boys and girls, the levels of academic stress and rumination response style increased the level of depression, whereas the distraction response style decreased the level of depression. Second, both the rumination and distraction styles for girls moderated the effect of academic stress on their depression. On the contrary, there was no moderating effect of the response styles for boys.

지진 피해자의 외상 후 성장에 영향을 미치는 요인들 간의 구조모형 (A Structural Equation Model of Factors Influencing Posttraumatic Growth of Earthquake Victims)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to construct and test a structural equation model of posttraumatic growth (PTG) of earthquake victims based on Tedeschi and Calhoun's model (2004). Methods: Data were collected from 195 earthquake victims living in K. City. The exogenous variables include distress perception, resilience, and social support, and the endogenous variables include intrusive rumination, deliberate rumination, and posttraumatic growth. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and structural equation modeling were performed. Results: The modified model showed a good fitness to the data. Moreover, 6 of the 9 paths of the final model were statistically significant, which include PTG affected by deliberate rumination (${\beta}=.58$, p<.001), resilience (${\gamma}=.18$, p=.001), and distress perception (${\gamma}=.20$, p=.002). These predictors explain 51.8% of variance in posttraumatic growth. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and disseminate preventive intervention programs to increase the resilience of earthquake-prone communities. In addition, after exposure to a community-scale traumatic event such as earthquake, we should provide social supports to alleviate distress perception and transition from intrusive rumination to deliberate rumination so that we can seek new meaning from the earthquake and facilitate posttraumatic growth.

소방공무원의 외상 후 성장 구조모형: Calhoun과 Tedeschi의 외상 후 성장 모형을 중심으로 (The Structural Equation Model for Posttraumatic Growth of Firefighter: Based on the Calhoun and Tedeschi's model of posttraumatic growth)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to construct and validate a posttraumatic growth structural model for firefighters based on Calhoun and Tedeschi's model (2006). Methods: The research data was collected from 200 firefighters working in Gyeongsang-do, Jeolla-do, and Gyeonggi-do. The participants completed an anonymous survey asking about ego-resilience, active coping, family support, organizational support, self-exposure, deliberate rumination, posstraumatic stress and posttraumatic growth. Results: The model selected as a final model was the one that supports 10 hypotheses out of 13 hypotheses. In the final model, deliberate rumination (β=.59, p<.001) had a significant effect in the posttraumatic growth of firefighters. Active coping, organizational support, self-exposure, ego-resilience and posttraumatic stress had a significant indirect effect. The explanatory power of these variables was 36.0%. Conclusion: The results of the survey show that it is important to develop a strategy to strengthen deliberate rumination. In addition, encouraging deliberate rumination through organizational support and self-exposure can promote posttraumatic growth of firefighters.

반추가축에 있어서 옥수수 알곡의 가공이 영양소 이용에 미치는 영향에 관한 고찰 (Review : Effects of Corn Processing on Nutrient Utilization in Ruminants)

  • Through out the last few decades, processing methods for ingredients of feed grains, such as grinding, flaking, extrusion, soaking, cracking etc., have been adopted in order to improve the nutrient digestibility in ruminants. Among feed grains, processing methods for whole corns have been the most frequently studied since corns are utilized as the thumb ingredients in formulating feeds. In these days, flaking of whole corns is the most incessantly used in formulation feeds, resulting in enhancing the performance of ruminants. Recently formulating non-forage feed for beef cattle, especially Holsteins, without processing whole corns is carrying out through various feed companies with expectations of whole corns acting like forages. However, it can not be ruled out that whole corns might possibly result in decreasing the productivity due to the depression of nutrient utilizations. Therefore, one must reevaluate the non-forage feeds as well as makes an effort to develop the rational and effective methodology in processing whole corns with the consideration of rumen eco-system.
