Four different wedge angle absorptive tiles were designed and made, and the magnitudes of the reflected acoustic fields by the wedge shaped underwater sound absorptive tiles were measured. The minimum magnitude was found at the angle of 30$^{\circ}$ and the maximum of it was found at the wedge angle of 120$^{\circ}$ from measured the reflected acoustic fields at the front sides of the tiles. The fact that as wedge angle of the absorptive tile increases, the reflection coefficient is increasing is verified. The measured reflected acoustic fields were not dependent on the frequency in the range of 10kHz~30kHz used in this experiment for the same wedge angle tile. The measured reflected acoustic fields at the back sides of the tiles show that they are independent from both type of the absorptive tiles and the frequencies used in the experiments. The measured values and the computed values by the numerical model for the reflected acoustic fields of the wedge shaped absorptive tiles are fairly well comparable with one another.
The purpose of the present work is to derive the reflection and transmission coefficients of $S_0\;and\;A_0$ mode Lamb waves in relation to the geometry of a rectangular notch when the waves propagate across the notch in an elastic plate. Firstly, the excitable modes of the Lamb wave were analyzed with respect to the plate thickness. The scattering phenomena were divided into three independent processes according to the boundary shape of the notch and the direction of the wave propagation. Linear equations for each process were derived with corresponding free or continuous boundary conditions to analyze the scattered waves. By the rule of linear superposition, the waves scattered at each process were summed for each mode. Then the steady-state reflection and transmission coefficients of the scattered waves were determined so that the difference of energy flux between the incident and the scattered waves would remain within 4%.

Reflectors for reflective LCDs are required to be able to control the direction of the image and viewing angle range for optimal display. To achieve these required characteristics, we performed elementary experiments on conventional reflectors, and theoretical analyzed the reflective property of rough surfaces by using scattering theory. We also proposed a reflector structure by which we can control the direction of the image and viewing angle characteristics simultaneously. If we fabricate and apply this reflector to the reflective LCDs, we can realize high performance display.
Acoustic characteristics of the wedge-shaped anechoic tiles, used as absorbing lining materials for an anechoic water tank, were investigated for different wedge-apex angles. The anechoic tile base has the dimensions of 400mm x 385mm x 15.5mm. In order to investigate anechoic effect, the wedge-apex angles 30° and 60° were selected by using a ray-tracing method. The reflection loss of the anechoic tiles with and without wedges were experimentally studied at normal incident sound waves in water. In this experiment, the reflection loss of wedge-shaped anechoic tiles with the optimum wedge-apex angle 30° is larger than one with the angle 60° and one without wedges. The experimental results show that the wedge-shaped anechoic tiles with the wedge-apex angle 30°, optimized by using ray-tracing method, turn out better absorbing lining materials of an anechoic water tank.

In this paper, reflection and RCS characteristic of the EGS(Electromagnetic Gradient Surface) due to incident angle and polarization is analyzed. Incident angle, ${\theta}_i$, is rotated from $0^{\circ}$ to $50^{\circ}$ with $10^{\circ}$ steps and perpendicular and parallel polarization of incident wave are also considered each incident angle. Reflection and RCS characteristic is not much affected by variation of polarization for normal incidence(${\theta}_i=0^{\circ}$). Reflection pattern has different characteristic due to variation of incident angle and polarization but the EGS has about 2 dB of RCS difference due to polarization in RCS characteristic.
When we apply a propagation model to the ocean with boundaries, we can calculate reflected wave using reflection coefficient suggested by Rayleigh assuming the boundaries are flat. But boundaries in ocean such as sea surface and sea bottom have an irregular rough surface. To calculate the reflection loss for an irregular boundary, it is needed to compute the coherent reflection coefficient based on an experimental formula or scattering theory. In this article, we derive the coherent reflection coefficients for a fluid-fluid interface using perturbation theory, Kirchhoff approximation and small-slope approximation respectively. Based on each formula, we can calculate coherent reflection coefficients for a rough sea surface or sea bottom, and then compare them to the Rayleigh reflection coefficient to analyze the reflection loss for a random rough surface. In general, the coherent reflection coefficient based on small-slope approximation has a wide valid region. Comparing it with the coherent reflection coefficients derived from the Kirchhoff approximation and perturbation theory, we discuss a valid region of them.
The land surface parameters should be determined with sufficient accuracy, because these play an important role in climate change near the ground. As the surface reflectance presents strong anisotropy, off-nadir viewing results a strong dependency of observations on the Sun - target - sensor geometry. They contribute to the random noise which is produced by surface angular effects. The principal objective of the study is to provide a database of accurate surface reflectance eliminated the angular effects from MODIS 250m reflective channel data over Korea. The MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) sensor has provided visible and near infrared channel reflectance at 250m resolution on a daily basis. The successive analytic processing steps were firstly performed on a per-pixel basis to remove cloudy pixels. And for the geometric distortion, the correction process were performed by the nearest neighbor resampling using 2nd-order polynomial obtained from the geolocation information of MODIS Data set. In order to correct the surface anisotropy effects, this paper attempted the semiempirical kernel-driven Bi- directional Reflectance Distribution Function(BRDF) model. The algorithm yields an inversion of the kernel-driven model to the angular components, such as viewing zenith angle, solar zenith angle, viewing azimuth angle, solar azimuth angle from reflectance observed by satellite. First we consider sets of the model observations comprised with a 31-day period to perform the BRDF model. In the next step, Nadir view reflectance normalization is carried out through the modification of the angular components, separated by BRDF model for each spectral band and each pixel. Modeled reflectance values show a good agreement with measured reflectance values and their RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) was totally about 0.01(maximum=0.03). Finally, we provide a normalized surface reflectance database consisted of 36 images for 2001 over Korea.
