  • The spectral properties of the solvated electrons in tetrahydrofuran(THF)-water binary system have been investigated. In this study, the solvated electrons have been produced by applying nsec Q-switch Nd(YAG) laser photolysis technique. The experimental method photolysis were schematically described. The solvent and the temperature effects on the absorption spectrum of solvated electrons have also been studied. The observation of the spectrum with increasing THF content and temperatue showed a trend that the former shifted to longer wavelength and the other showed broadening effect. The half-life of solvated electrons were also increased with THF content. The absorption maxima of the mixtures were always observed in the middle of that of pure water and THF. The correlation between the volume and the absorption energy of solvated electrons were discussed from the results.

  • Nitric oxide (NO), which has been recognized as an integral molecule in maintaining homeostasis, plays an important role in host defense against microbes. NO has diverse antimicrobial mechanisms by directly and/or indirectly interacting with microbes. Under the circumstance that there is an urgent need for a new class of antimicrobial agents due to antibiotic resistance, much effort has been made to develop a NO-based antimicrobial agent. In order to make it possible, strategies to store and release NO in a controlled manner are required because NO has a gaseous property and a very short half-life. In this review, we described NO biochemistry and its mechanisms of antimicrobial activity. In additions, we introduced various NO-releasing systems that improve NO's antimicrobial activity.

노출평가를 위한 TLV 근거 - 2-BUTOXYETHANOL(8)

  • 2-부톡시에탄올(2-butoxyethanol)에 대한 생물학적 노출지수 설정에 필요한 자료는 상당수 존재한다. 다양한 실험실 및 직업적 현장연구는 2-butoxyethanol에 노출된 후 소변에서 butoxyacetic acid의 배설을 조사하여 생물학적 노출지수를 구축할 데이터베이스를 제공하였다. 실험실 연구는 작업시간 동안보다는 짧은 시간을 노출시킨다. 휴식 중에 실시한 실험 자료들을 20ppm에 8시간 노출로 외삽하면 작업시작 종료 시점의 소변 중 butoxyacetic acid의 농도가 각각 192, 272, 190 mg/g creatinine이었다. 작업부하 30 watts와 50 watts의 연구 결과를 외삽하면 각각 304 butoxyacetic acid/g creatinine과 313 butoxyacetic acid/g creatinine이었다. 작업현장 연구는 소변을 가수분해시킨 후 총 butoxyacetic acid의 검출 범위가 광범위할 것으로 예상된다. 이러한 외삽의 결과는 일반적으로 1ppm 미만의 노출에서 나온 것이라는 점에 유의해야 한다. 피부 흡수의 가능성과 2-butoxyethanol의 상대적으로 낮은 휘발성을 감안할 때 현장 연구에서는 피부 경로가 흡입 연구보다 더 중요할 수 있다. 따라서 현장 조사는 휴식을 취한 자원봉사자를 대상으로 실시한 흡입 연구와 비교하면 소변 중 butoxyacetic acid 농도를 과대평가하는 경향이 있다. 활용 가능한 시뮬레이션 연구에서 휴식 시 2-butoxyethanol의 TLV-TWA 20ppm에 8시간 전신(흡입과 피부) 노출되는 경우 가수분해된 총 butoxyacetic acid가 210 mg/g creatinine이 예상되고 작업부하 50 watts에서는 373 mg/g creatinine이 예측된다. 50 watts의 작업량으로 20ppm에서 8시간 노출되는 경우 생물학적 노출지수(BEI)는 약 400 mg/g creatinine일 것이다. 그러나 생물학적 노출지수는 외삽에 대한 불확실성, 심각한 피부 노출 및 작업장 노출평가 자료의 부족을 반영하여 200 mg butoxyacetic acid/g creatinine으로 설정하였다. 인용한 자료들의 한계에도 불구하고 자원 봉사자 연구와 시뮬레이션 연구의 자료들이 일치성이 있었다. 연구에 따르면 butoxyacetic acid는 측정 가능한 양으로 존재하며 작업 교대 중에 검출될 수 있는 충분한 시간의 반감기를 가지고 있다. Sakai 등의 연구 자료와 일부 모델링 자료에서 노출농도가 높은 경우 주중에 약간의 축적 가능성을 보고하였지만 작업장에서 일반적으로 노출되는 농도 범위에서는 누적이 예상되지 않으며 작업 종료 후에 소변시료를 채취하는 것이 바람직하다. 대다수의 연구에서 소변 중 butoxyacetic acid 농도 수준의 개인 간 다양성을 보고하였다. 또한 대부분의 작업현장 연구에서는 2-butoxyethanol의 주변 환경 농도수준과 소변 중 butoxyacetic acid 수준에 유의한 상관관계를 발견하지 못하였다. 상호 연관성이 결여된 원인은 대부분 피부 노출의 영향으로 추정하였다. 개인 보호 장갑을 착용한 근로자들에게서는 유의한 상관관계가 발견되었다.

Studies on Oxidation Modification of Polyethylene Wax (폴리에틸렌 왁스의 산화변성에 관한 연구)

  • In oxidized polyethylene wax preparation, the effects of main parameters such as the property of used wax, oxidation time, oxidation temperature, air feed rates on the change of acid-numbers were investigated. The change in polymer property was also investigated. The results showed under given reaction conditions, the acid numbers with oxidation temperature increased upto $160^{\circ}C$, but at higher temperature, it decreased. The base resin which was lower molecular weight had higher acid number. The result showed molecular weight as a experimental parameter was more effective than density in oxidation experiment. In milder condition, free radical initiator was used for catalyst to get higher acid-numbers, which was successful in comparison to the non-catalyst system. Also the catalyst with longer half-life was efficient, in order of DCPO, HOPO and BPO.

  • This research suggested a new patent index based on patent citation technique using cited information, For this purpose, comparison research on library and patent information related citation database providing citation index was done. The information quality and meaning on the impact factor of JCR and the technology factor of CHI were reinterpreted. The former emphasizes the quality of continuous publication using relative citation frequency. The latter only emphasizes the information itself because it assesses the quality of patent characteristics. To overcome these difficulties, the latter re-authorized a relative quality to the organization possessing the patent using technology impact factor. Three new patent index were proposed on the basis of cited information to complement this. However, the comparative object was limited to American patent information that presented cited information of patent applied cases, and the comparison and research of domestic patent information could not be done.

혈관내벽에 홀뮴-166 방사선 분할 조사시 흡수선량 분포

  • 경피적관상동맥성형술(CPTCA)이나 스텐트삽입술 후에 발생하는 재협착을 방지하기 위한 방사선을 조사하는 방법 중에 베타 입자를 방출하는 액체 선원을 catheter풍선 내에 넣어 일정 시간 방사선 조사 시키는 방법이 있다. 조사시킬 혈관의 길이가 길어 한번의 방사선 조사가 어려울 경우 영역을 분할하여 두 번에 나누어 조사할 경우가 있다. 조사영역의 겹치는 부근의 흡수선량이 고선량이나 저선량이 되는가를 알기 위하여 두 풍선간의 접근 거리에 따른 혈관내벽의 흡수선량 분포를 알아보았다. 풍선내의 액체 선원은 Ho-l66을 이용하였고 Ho-l66의 물리적 반감기는 26.8시간이고 최대에너지 1.85 MeV, 평균에너지 0.69 MeV와 최대에너지 1.77 MeV, 평균에너지 0.65 MeV를 갖는 베타 입자를 방출한다. Ho-l66 의 방사선 흡수선량을 측정하기 위하여 GafChromic 필름(Nuclear Associates, Carle Place, NY, USA)을 이용하였고, 방사선이 조사된 필름의 optical density는 videodensitometer(Wellhofer, Schwarzen-bruck, Germany)를 이용하여 값을 읽었다. Catheter 풍선은 직경이 3 mm 이고 길이가 20 mm인 것을 이용하였다. 혈관 내벽의 최대 흡수선량을 표준화하여 겹치는 부분의 흡수선량 분포를 접근 거리에 따라 구하였다. 또한 몬테카를로 시abf레이션으로 확인하였다. 두 풍선의 겹치는 부근의 선량 분포는 풍선 중앙에서 중앙사이의 거리가 21 mm 일 때 중앙에서 20% 증가하였고, 거리가 22 mm일 때와 23 mm일 때 각각 10%와 40%의 감소를 보였다. 풍선 도자의 풍선 안에 베타입자 방출 액체 선원을 넣어 혈관내벽에 방사선 조사하는 방법은 비정거리가 짧아 혈관 내벽 부근에만 방사선을 조사시키고 그 외 중요 장기에는 영향을 덜 미치는 장점이 있다. 그러나 혈관 내벽 표면으로 부터의 거리에 따라 흡수선량이 급격히 떨어지는 분포를 이루기 때문에 두 개의 풍선이 겹치는 부근의 흡수선량은 아주 작은 접근 거리에서도 급격한 변화를 보였다. 따라서 시술 중에 겹치는 부분을 아주 적게 분할하여 정확하게 차례차례로 조사시키기 위해서는 신중한 거리 조정을 하여야 한다.

Fate of the Herbicide Quizalofop-Ethyl in Soil. (제초제 Quizalofop-Ethyl의 토양중 행방)

  • This study was conducted to find out the residual aspect and the effect of quizalofop-ethyl on microorganisms used to control broad-leaf weeds at Yeongok soil series, the experiment field, Chonnam R.D.A. and Namwon soil series, the experiment field, Jeju R.D.A. More than 60 percent of quizalofop-ethyl treated in soil was degraded within 7 days. The degradation of quizalofop-ethyl in soil increased rapidly with incubation temperature. The half-life of quizalofop-ethyl in soil was 15 days(Yeongok series) and 16 days(Namwon series). The number of microorganisms in soil treated with quizalofop-ethyl decreased prominently with incubation time. But the number of Fusarium did not reduce in comparison with that of other soil microorganisms. Therefore, it was thought that the decomposition of quizalofop-ethyl in soil was affected by $Fusarium^2$.

Evaluation for Safety of Tricyclazole (I) (살균제 Tricyclazole에 대한 안전성 평가 (I))

  • Fate of tricyclazole in rice paddy system was studied. The effect on soil microorganism as well as the mutagenicity of the compound was also examined. The residues of tricyclazole in crops and soil with two times application before harvest were 0.37 in unpolished rice, 0.29 in polished rice, 0.14 in rice straw, and 0.15 ppm in paddy soil. With three times of application the residues were increased to 0.46, 0.39, and 0.19 ppm, respectively. Until $2{\sim}3$ weeks after treatment of pesticide the degradation of tricyclazole was progressed comparatively but very slowly afterward and the half life of that was about $140{\sim}180$ days. There was no effect for viable count of soil microorganisms and for mutagenic test by Salmonella and Saccharomyces systems.

Persistence of Cyanofenphos on Chinese Cabbage (배추중(中) Cyanofenphos의 잔류소장(殘留消長))

  • Persistence of cyanofenphos on Chinese cabbage under the different climate conditions was studied by spraying the insecticide at the rate of 0.5 and 0.75 ㎏ AI/ha at 22 and 36 days after transplanting and monitoring its residues upto 35 days after the final spray. At both spraying rates the degradation patterns of the insecticide, regardless of climate condition, showed similar trends; cyanofenphos residues on Chinese cabbage declined rapidly upto 14 days after the final spray but more slowly thereafter. Half-life for cyanofenphos on Chinese cabbage was $6{\sim}7$ days. The half-life was little affected by the spraying rate and time. Based on the FAO/WHO maximum residue limit of cyanofenphos on common cabbage (2 ppm), it is recommended that the pre-harvest intervels of the insecticide on Chinese cabbage could be 16 and 19 days for 0.5 and 0.75 ㎏ AI/ha, respectively.

  • This work has been conducted to investigate the behavior of pesticides in ginseng(Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) cultivation environment, with a fungicide procymidone as a model pesticide. Procymidone adsorption on ginseng cultivating soil was studied and persistency of procymidone in soil was monitored in indoor incubation experiments at 25$^{\circ}C$ and 10$^{\circ}C$. The soil adsorption coefficients($K_{oc}$) of procymidone were in the range of 513$\sim$743 suggesting the mobility of procymidone in soil is relatively low. Procymidone showed higher persistency in soil under indoor incubation condition than outdoor field condition. The half lives estimated from the first order reaction kinetics were 248 days and 330 days at 25$^{\circ}C$ and 10$^{\circ}C$, respectively.
