Cancer of the head and neck is an uncommon disease accounting for 5 % of all cancers. In an anatomic area so readily visible and palpable for examination without special and expensive diagnositic tools, it is unfortunate that many patients still present with advanced diseases. Since the prognosis is so intimately related to stage of disease, it is very important to detect the earliest stage of cancer with a complete head and neck examination. In the evaluation of cancer at any anatomic site, the description of the extent of the lesion is important. Not only does proper staging of the tumor lead to make decision of the most appropriate treatment, it also serves as a guide for the results of treatment. Proper staging demands a careful clinical assesment of the extent of the cancer. The current staging system for head and neck cancer uses the TNM system devised by American Joint Committee for Cancer Staging and End Result Reporting. T represent the primary tumor, N, regional nodal metastases, and M, distant metastases. The detection, diagnosis, and appropriate treatment of eary cancer will result in improved survival.

Statistical reliability in the sensory evaluation measures the agreement of judgements for several observers. Kendall's coefficient of concordance for multiple rankings. and coefficient of consistence and coefficient of agreement for paired comparisons are frequently used as the standard reliability measures. The main idea and the computational formula of these coefficients in various situations are explained in detail with some real (cloth designing) examples. Moreover a user-friendly computer program called as MultPair is introduced. We expect that this expository paper and the computer program give a practical help to the researchers who use the sensory evaluation techniques.

Non-Darcy흐름에 따른 호안제체의 흐름과 배수갑문을 통한 유출입 특성을 고려한 체절구간의 수리특성분석 도형에 의한 해석결과는 실측자료와 비교적 잘 일치하여 개발된 모형의 적용성이 있음을 보여주었다. 실측치와 비교한 계산결과는 본간(1958) 식에 의한 계산이 나(1987)에 의한 방법보다 비교적 정확하게 계산할 수 있음을 보여주었다. 아울러 완전 또는 불완전 월류의 구분이 없이 잠수도에 의한 계산을 통해서 하나의 유량계수 관계곡선을 사용하여 간편하게 사용할 수 있는 나 식의 사용성을 보여 주었다. 본간 식과 나 식에 의한 계산 값이 실측치보다는 유출입 특성이 크게 나타나고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 현장에서의 체절구간의 불규칙적인 단면 양상을 감안한 유량계수의 조정이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 일반적으로 체절구간의 수리특성의 분석을 위해서 제체구간 유량의 고려는 Darcy 흐름에 기초하여 분석한 것이 지금까지의 분석이다. 제체를 통과는 유량과 개방구간을 통과하는 유량의 비가 체절구간이 좁을수록 크게 나타나 제체의 정확한 유출임 특성을 고려한 체절구간의 수리특성을 분석해야할 필요가 있음을 확인하였다.

일반적인 라만 분광 시스템은 회절 한계로 인해 공간 분해능이 떨어지며, 시료의 양이 적을 경우에 굉장히 미약하게 발생하는 라만 신호의 검출 감도가 떨어지는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS)를 구축하였다. 구축한 TERS 시스템은 뾰족한 금속 탐침을 시료 위에 근접시켜 금속 탐침 내에 존재하는 전자와 여기 광 간의 플라즈몬 공명 현상에 의한 광 안테나 효과를 유도하여 라만 분광 시스템의 공간 분해능을 수십 나노미터 정도로 향상시켰으며, 기존의 라만 분광 시스템에서는 검출되지 않는 미약한 라만 신호를 검출할 수 있었다. 구축한 TERS 시스템을 이용하여 탄소나노튜브를 비롯한 다양한 반도체 시료의 라만 스펙트럼 및 라만이미지를 측정하였고, 금속 탐침이 시료위에 근접되지 않은 경우의 측정 결과와 라만 신호의 세기 및 라만 이미지의 공간 분해능을 비교하여 제안하는 TERS 시스템의 효용성을 검증하였다.

The increasing risk of subsequent malignancy after treatment of malignant lymphoma is well known, which is mainly due to longer survival of these patients. Radiotherapy at an early stage of Hodgkin's disease or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is accepted to be associated with future occurrence of secondary thyroid cancer. Nevertheless, the synchronous presentation of these malignancies is extremely rare. Well differentiated thyroid cancer, a slow-growing tumor that responds to therapy with surgery and radioactive iodine, is associated with prolonged survival. therefore, it is important to make this diagnosis in patients who show evidence of malignant lymphoma. Furthermore, appropriate treatment must be considered for thyroid cancer to improve the prognosis of these patients. We herein reported 4 cases of synchronous thyroid cancer and malignant lymphoma in patients who had not previously recieved radiotherapy or chemotherapy.

A 66 years old female who had a huge desmoid tumor on her left neck was treated by partial excision and postoperative irradiation. Detailed summary of this rare tumor are included with a review of the literature about treatment modality including irradiation. We suggest that local irradiation is one of the effective treatment tools in the management of desmoid tumor, especially, in the case of unresectable or postoperative residual tumors on the neck.

Schwannoma is a benign tumor of Schwann cell origin and may occur on any nerve covered by Schwann cells. Although approximately 25% to 48% of all Schwannoma occur in the head and neck region, the lesions originating from the cervical vagus nerve are extremely rare. We have recently experienced a case of huge Schwannoma arising from the cervical vagus nerve which was initially misdiagnosed as a huge goiter. We report herein the case with review of the literatures.

It is reported that many users of the subways in Seoul are not currently satisfied with the subway services. The cause of the dissatisfaction is that the qualitative items and indexes are not considered properly, and also does not diversify the evaluation items to follow the change of subway environment. Therefore in this study the evaluation items and indexes that can reflect of the subway users' characteristics are examined and synthesized. Then the characteristics of service are analyzed for the senior subway system users and junior subway system users that are classified with the cluster analysis. The result of the study is that the majority of users on subway are not satisfied the qualitative items which are safety, kindness, comfortableness, convenience excepting for punctuality and accessibility. So, if the service of subway users improve, the qualitative items is needed to consider with quantitative items.

Seoul Metro Line 9 (SML9) is the first subway line that private capital invests in Korea. SML9 will cross Seoul, linking the Gimpo Airport to the Gangnam district (25.5km) opening in the first half of 2009. SML9 has a new model in Korea constructed by metropolitan government and private company and operated by specialized public transportation service provider. SML9 is confronted with tough environment of stagnated public transportation and strong competitor, Olympic city expressway. And SML9 is under pressure for showing high efficiency as non-governmental organization from both customers and government. Consequently SML9 must lead the maximum efficiency by using its material and human resource. It is necessary that SML9 raise a competitive power and display its ability in active collaboration with relative organization and company. Hereupon, I propose renovation plans from viewpoint of operation field of SML9, (1) efficient train scheduling regime focusing on the combination of express and local train (2) close connection of other mean of transportation and (3) effective connection convention with Airport Railroad (AREX) as the line connected directly.

본 고에서는 국제표준으로 권고되고 있거나 국제표준으로 작업중에 있는 멀티 미 디어 회의시스템을 위한 여러가지 프로토콜과 응용들을 기반으로하여 국제표준에 적합 한 멀티미디어 회의시스템을 위한 회의응용 서비스를 설계한다. 여기에서 설계 하는 회의용 서비스의 범위는 회의의 설정과 운영, 제어와 종료에 관련하는 회의제어 응용 서비스와 멀티미디어회의에서 사용되는 정지영상응용, 그리고 이를 다중점으로 연결하 여 다중점통신을 가능케하는 다중점통신서비스를 설계 한다. 본 설계에서는 동적이 MCU 의 설정이 가능한 회의 환경의 구성, 회의의 개최와 진행, 운영등의 설계에 중점을 두었다.
