가공오차가 분무특성 및 연소성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

  • 액체로켓엔진은 인젝터, 추력실, 노즐 등으로 구성되어 있으며, 이들 구성요소 중에서 연소성능과 연소안정성에 가장 지배적인 요소는 인젝터이다. 본 연구에서는 액체로켓엔진에 사용될 인젝터의 F-O-O-F 충돌형 Uni-element 인젝터를 설계하였으며 특히, F-O-O-F 충돌형 인젝터는 두 단계의 충돌과정으로 구성되는데, 첫단계 충돌은 산화제와 연료 오리피스의 분무로 충돌이 이루어져 Liquid Sheet가 형성되며 다음 단계로는 이러한 양쪽의 Liquid Sheet가 서로 충돌하여 미립화가 진행되는 두단계 충돌과정으로 이루어지게 된다. 그러므로 인젝터의 가공 정밀도가 매우 높아야 하며 인젝터 오리피스 크기나 각도 등의 어느 하나라도 정밀도가 낮게 가공된다면 연소성능과 연소안정성에 심각한 영향을 주게 된다.

Spray Patterns and Atomization Characteristics of Viscoelastic Fluid with Impinging Jet (점탄성 유체에 따른 충돌분무의 분무패턴 및 미립화 특성)

  • Viscoelastic fluid is used in various industrial sites because its cost reduction and environmental benefits by preventing formation of fine droplets that scattered around. However, viscoelastic fluids, unlike newtonian fluids, contain a shear thinning characteristic that decrease in viscosity as shear rate increases and elastic characteristic, making it difficult to predict spray breakup process. In this study we made three test fluids. Boger fluid with viscoelastic characteristics, and two newtonian fluids, were prepared to exclude shear thinning characteristics and study the effects of elastic characteristic only. Flow visualization, spray angle, and SMD were measured for three test fluids using laboratory scale impinging jet test apparatus. As a result, it was confirmed that Boger fluid, unlike the newtonian fluid, was not formed fine droplets that scattered around and the breakup process appeared differently. In addition, SMD was found to be large in Boger fluid, and the SMD according to pressure was confirmed that there is no significant difference.

  • The effects of principal dimensions of internal mixing twin-fluid atomized and operating conditions on the atomizing characteristics are experimentally investigated. The tests are conducted over the wide range of air/liquid ratio to predict influences of the diameter and length of nozzle, contacting angle between air and liquid in the mixing chamber, and air orifice diameter on the mean drop size(SMD), spray angle, distribution of drop size, and spray dispersion, And also, initial distribution of liquid column by air stream within the mixing chamber are observed through the transparent nozzles. A He-Ne laser particle sizer(MALVERN Model 2604) was used to measure the Sauter.s mean diameter( $D_{321}$) and droplet sizes distribution. In this experiment the air/liquid ratio, mixing length and nozzle diameter have a great influence on SMD, spray angle, droplet sizes distribution and spray dispersion.

Design of Hydrogen Peroxide/Kerosene Ignitor and Ignition Characteristic according to Operation Condition (친환경 추진제를 사용하는 액체로켓엔진 점화기의 설계 및 운용 조건이 점화 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Ignition performance tests were performed to develop a catalytic ignitor which used hydrogen peroxide and kerosene. Ignition characteristics were investigated by exit area of the catalytic bed, shape of kerosene injector and lead time of purge gas. The results showed that exit area of catalytic bed must be enough for non chocking condition and kerosene must be sprayed with swirl in the middle of catalytic bed. Also in case without preheating of catalytic bed, hydrogen peroxide must be leaded by 3sec, and purge gas must be supplied simultaneously or lately with kerosene.

  • Dual-mode Phase Doppler Anemometry (DPDA) was used to scrutinize the spatial distribution characteristics of spray emanating from a small Liquid-Rocket Engine (LRE) injector. Droplet size and velocity were measured according to the variation of injection pressure along the plane normal to the spray stream and then the spray characteristic parameters such as Arithmetic Mean Diameter (AMD), Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD), number density, span of drop size distribution, and volume flux were deduced for an investigation of spray breakup characteristics. As the injection pressure increases, the number density, span, and volume flux of spray droplets become higher, whereas the AMD gets smaller.

  • Spray characteristics of an injector employed in liquid rocket engine is investigated by Particle Image Velocimetry and Dual-mode Phase Doppler Anemometry measurements. Instantaneous plane images captured by PIV technique are examined in order to judge a pass-fail criteria of spray injection performance. DPDA technique is also applied in order to measure the velocity and diameter of spray droplets. The eternal objective of this study is to evaluate an injector performance which may be utilized for the design of brand-new ones through the clear understanding of spray characteristics.

  • This work shows the result of numerical simulation on a reacting flow by varying atomization properties which can be obtained from a injector for a small and low power aircraft gas turbine engine. Because the atomization properties mainly affect on the performance of the engine, a lot of efficiency tests are needed when a new injector is developed. Nowadays researches has been actively performed using computational analysis. Using commercial package CFD-ACE+, basic studies on the reacting flow field have been conducted. Those results show that the reaction rate is increased when higher pressure and wider angle spray condition are used. More smaller parcels can also enhance the fuel-air reaction.

  • Spray characteristics of the impinging injectors in subsonic crossflows were experimentally studied and compared with the plain-orifice injectors. By changing the impingement angle (60, 90, 120) which is the same orifice length to diameter ratio (L/d = 5), spray characteristics were investigated. In the view of the top view from the impinging injectors, as the impingement angle increases, the liquid column breakup length in the y-direction was decreased. On the other hand, when the impinging injector is viewed from the side view, the breakup length in the x direction is smaller than the previous plain-orifice injectors, which mean that the atomizing performance of the impingement-type injector is better than that of the single-hole orifice.

  • Recently, application fields of non-metallic minerals by utilizing their structure properties are broadening. Especially, layered minerals have not only excellent shielding or covering ability but also absorbing and storing characteristics of chemical elements between a layers. We considered about the above mentioned characteristics and added functional substances onto their surfaces for the preparation of new environmentally friendly functional materials. In this study, natural graphite and sericite were mainly used to produce for the new environmentally friendly functional building materials. Graphite surfaces were modified with a surfactant (Alkyl Benzyle Demethyle Ammonium Chloride) for anti-bacillus and penicillium. Surface modification mechanism are that primary adsorption by differential zeta potential between graphite and ABDM and secondary adsorption by interaction between surfactant chains take place. Surfactant layers were fully formed and it was expected up to 99.7% up the efficiency of anti-bacillus and penicillium. Also the prepared functional samples have a effect to improve a various efficiency such as electromagnetic wave shield(up to 95%), deodorization(up to 80%), heat storage(5%) etc.

A Study on the Development of Marine Fuel Oil Homogenizer for Fuel Costs Saving (연료비 절감을 위한 선박용 연료유 균질기 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we have conducted a work on homogenizer development which is operated by high shearing force generated by stator and rotor inside it. To investigate the performance for homogenization and atomization of homogenizer, Bunker-C (IFO 380 cSt) was used as a fuel for experiment. Pre-treatment of bunker-C was carried out with homogenizer developed in this study. Oil purifier was used to investigate effect of oil sludge reduction after pre-treatment. Experimental result showed that the amount of sludge of fuel oil after pre-treatment with homogenizer has decreased by 13 %. To confirm combustion efficiency, Bunker-C which have pre-treatment with homogenizer and purified after are burned in boiler system. The result showed that CO concentration in exhaust gas was decreased. These results mean that if the homogenizer which is developed in this study for marine fuel oil is applied on real vessels, oil costs and operating costs can be reduced.
