This paper presents new heuristic search algorithms for searching rectilinear r(L1), link metric, and combined shortest paths in the presence of orthogonal obstacles. The GMD(GuidedMinimum Detour) algorithm combines the best features of maze-running algorithms and line-search algorithms. The SGMD(Line-by-Line GuidedMinimum Detour)algorithm is a modiffication of the GMD algorithm that improves efficiency using line-by-line extensions. Our GMD and LGMD algorithms always find a rectilinear shortest path using the guided A search method without constructing a connection graph that contains a shortest path. The GMD and the LGMD algorithms can be implemented in O(m+eloge+NlogN) and O(eloge+NlogN) time, respectively, and O(e+N) space, where m is the total number of searched nodes, is the number of boundary sides of obstacles, and N is the total number of searched line segment. Based on the LGMD algorithm, we consider not only the problems of finding a link metric shortest path in terms of the number of bends, but also the combined L1 metric and Link Metric shortest path in terms of the length and the number of bands.

We fabricated thermally-evaporated 10 nm-Ni/30 nm and 70 nm Poly-Si/200 nm-$SiO_2/Si$ structures to investigate the thermal stability of nickel silicides formed by rapid thermal annealing(RTA) of the temperature of $300{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$ for 40 seconds. We employed for a four-point tester, field emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM), transmission electron microscope(TEM), high resolution X-ray diffraction(HRIXRD), and scanning probe microscope(SPM) in order to examine the sheet resistance, in-plane microstructure, cross-sectional microstructure evolution, phase transformation, and surface roughness, respectively. The silicide on 30 nm polysilicon substrate was stable at temperature up to $900^{\circ}C$, while the one on 70 nm substrate showed the conventional $NiSi_2$ transformation temperature of $700^{\circ}C$. The HRXRD result also supported the existence of NiSi-phase up to $900^{\circ}C$ for the Ni silicide on the 30 nm polysilicon substrate. FE-SEM and TEM confirmed that 40 nm thick uniform silicide layer and island-like agglomerated silicide phase of $1{\mu}m$ pitch without residual polysilicon were formed on 30 nm polysilicon substrate at $700^{\circ}C\;and\;1000^{\circ}C$, respectively. All silicides were nonuniform and formed on top of the residual polysilicon for 70 nm polysilicon substrates. Through SPM analysis, we confirmed the surface roughness was below 17 nm, which implied the advantage on FUSI gate of CMOS process. Our results imply that we may tune the thermal stability of nickel monosilicide by reducing the height of polysilicon gate.
To evaluate the antimutagenic activity of the specialty rices, a giant embryonic rice and a pigmented rice, we measured the inhibitory effect on the chemically induced mutagenesis in E. coli and V79 cultured cell system, as well as on DNA strand scission induced by oxidative damages in vitro. When the inhibitory activity to mitomycin C-induced mutagenesis using SOS chromotest in E. coli cell was measured, the activities decreased in the following order: germinated pigmented rice (40.4%) > germinated giant embryonic rice (37.1%) > pigmented rice (35.5%) > germinated brown rice (15.7%) > giant embryonic rice (14.0%) > brown rice (0.8%). The activities for inhibiting mitomycin C-induced DNA strand scission decreased in the order of pigmented rice > giant embryonic rice > germinated pigmented rice > germinated brown rice > brown rice > germinated giant embryonic rice. We also determined antimutagenic activities of the specialty rices using the suppressing effect on 6-TG resistant colony formation by 4-NQO in V79 cells as a mutagenicity index. The order of antimutagenicity was germinated giant embryonic rice (53.2%) > pigmented rice (40.0%) > brown rice (21.2%) > germinated brown rice (14.4%) > giant embryonic rice (0.23%); in contrast, germinated pigmented rice showed promoting effect on 4-NQO-induced mutagenesis.
Starches from 4 rice cultivars, including Whachungchalbyeo and Whachungbyeo, together with two correspondiug conversion mutants with giant embryonic phenotype, Whachungchal-giant embryonic rice and Whachung-giant embryonic rice, were isolated to compare its physico-chemical properties. The amylose content and the length of glucose chains in the fractionated amylose was reduced in response to conversion of the rice cultivars for developing giant embryonic phenotype. For the fine structure of amylopectin, conversion to giant embyonic rice cultivars accompanied with slight increase in the length of B chain plus decrease in the amount of A chain, and also a slight increase in average glucose chains length of amylopectin fractions could be observed. X-ray diffractogram revealed 4 cultivars to be the representative A types. We could also obtain the results that the hydrolysis rate by glucoamylase in the waxy rice cultivars decreased in response to conversion to the giant embryonic rice cultivars, while the rate increased in the non-waxy rice cultivas. Termination temperature for gelatinization was observed to decrease in response to conversion into the giant embryonic rice cultivars, however, the enthalpy for gelatinization was found to increase with the same conversion process.

This study was conducted to examine the mesh selecivity and optimum mesh size of spring frame trap for conger eel. Conger myriaster. It was carried out on 25th Sep. 2002 at the coastal sea of Nung-po, Geojedo. The experimental fishing gear was used in five kinds of different mesh size spring frame trap that were 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm and 35mm, and one plastic pot as control fishing gear that was 6.7mm hole diameter. The mesh size 15mm, 20mm are the current gears, 25mm, 30mm are used in experiment, and 35mm is the legal mesh. These were made 50 traps, respectively. The mesh selectivity curve was analysed by the Kitahara's method(1968) and the optimum mesh size was estimated by relationship between the total length and diameter of conger eel and by the mesh selectivity master curve. The results obtained are summarized follows : 1. The total number of catch by the trap for conger eel was 835, it was consisted of 537 conger eel(64.4), 225 crabs(2639%) and 73 others(8.7%). 2. The value of maximum 1/m on the mesh selectivity curve was estimated at about 23.9. 3. The optimum mesh size of spring frame trap for conger eel was estimated 34.0mm in 50% selection range of the mesh selectivity master curve.
This experiment was to find out the exact amount of iron component in filature water affecting or the coloring and iron component content in the raw silk after the quantitative analysis of iron component in the filature water, cocoon bave and raw silk. 1. In Korea the extent of iron component in filature water is 0.01-0.77 PPM, and the average amount is 0.23 PPM. 2. The sample water from wells contains more than twice as much iron component as the river water. 3. The iron component content in the cocoon bave (Fe$_2$O$_3$ 0.0096%) and that in the raw silk (Fe$_2$O$_3$ 0.0084%) are similar. But it should be noticed that while the ash content in cocoon bave is twice as much as raw silk, the same amount of ash in raw silk has twice as much iron component as the cocoon bave. 4. The amount of iron component in filature water has great effect on the resolution and absorption of iron component contained in the raw silk during cooking and reeling. That is, when the amount of iron component is small, the rate of iron component resolution from the cocoon bave increases and finally the raw silk comes to contain much less iron component than the cocoon bave, but when the iron component amount is over 0.40 PPM, the raw silk happens to contain more iron component than the cocoon bave. 5. The iron component in filature water makes the raw silk grayish and the more the iron component, the grayer the raw silk. 6. While even very small amount of iron component can affect the depth of raw silk, relatively large amount of Mn component does not have so much influence on the coloring.

The Janggun mine (Longitude $E129^{\circ}$ 03' 40", Latitude $N36^{\circ}$ 51' 19") was once operated as an underground mine and recently significant amount of mine and leachate water has been discharged from the mine adits and tailing dumps. Mine and leachate waters are characterized by neutral to weakly basic pH values (6.81-9.59). Major cations and anions have concentrations between 6.70-129.80 mg/L of Mg, 289.29-661.02 mg/L of Ca, 4.74-14.38 mg/L of Mn and 1205.00-2448.69 mg/L of $SO{_4}^{2-}$. Brownish yellow precipitates that found in the stream bottom consist of poorly crystallized 2-line ferrihydrite ($Fe_2O_3{\cdot}0.5H_2O$. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) photographs show that brownish yellow precipitates consisted of micro-sized granular particles of about $0.1{\mu}m$ in diameter. Semi-quantitative energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) analyses show that these samples contained mainly Fe with minor Mn, Ca, Si and As.
A study on the acid leaching and precipitation has been conducted to remove arsenic from the closed-mine tailings. HCI and H$_2$SO$_4$were used as the leach liquor of arsenic and the tailing obtained from the Da-Duck Mine, which was already closed several decades ago, was also used as the source of arsenic. The effect of the concentration of acid, leaching time and the slurry density on the leaching efficiency of arsenic has been examined. In addition, pH controls and the addition of sodium sulfide were also attempted to remove the arsenic compound as the precipitation from the leachate. After 1 hr leaching by HCI, 40 to 86% of arsenic was leached out depending on the concentration of acid or the slurry density while 47 to 77% of it was leached out by $H_2$$SO_4$. The leaching of arsenic by both acids was almost accomplished within 10 min. and after that only a slight increase in leaching efficiency was observed with leaching time. When the leach liquor was used repeatedly for the leaching of arsenic, the concentration of arsenic in the leach liquor was found to increase continuously although the leaching efficiency was diminished. As far as the precipitation of arsenic in the leachate was concerned, more than 99% of arsenic could be precipitated through the addition of sodium sulfide as the precipitator while the pH controls resulted in the precipitation of up to 84%.
Objectives : Phencyclidine(PCP) or PCP-like substances such as ketamine have been known to rekindle the cognitive dysfunction in schizophrenia. The aims of this study were to identify whether PCP-like substances can produce cognitive deficit in schizophrenia, to discuss relation with aging process, and finally to speculate underlying neurochemical mecha-nisms by various drug responses. Methods : In experiment I, radial maze tests were done in 24 Sprague-Dawley rats for 3 days to get baseline data. Being divided into 4 groups(6 rats respectively) of normal aged, normal adult controls, atropine-treated and ketamine-treated, the radial maze tests were repeated on every week for 6 weeks, and then the rats were sacrificed by intracardiac perfusion with phosphate-buffered 10% formaldehyde solution for histology. The brain specimen was stained with hematoxylin-eosin to count cells in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus. In experiment II, radial maze tests were done for 48 rats before any drug treatment and only after ketamine administration. Thereafter, haloperidol, bromocriptine, clonidine, nimodipine, tacrine, valproic acid, naloxone and fluoxetine were intramuscularly injected on every other day in addition to ketamine. Radial maze tests were repeated on every week for 6 weeks, and then rats were prepared by the same procedure for histology. Results : 1) Reaction times of radial maze tests of atropine-treated rats were significantly prolonged than those of normal aged(p<0.05) or normal adult controls(p<0.05). Cell numbers of prefrontal cortex & hippocampus in ketamine-treated rats were significantly reduced than those in normal aged (p<0.05) or normal adult controls(p<0.005). 2) Reduced cell numbers by ketamine became significantly raised by tacrine administration in prefrontal cortex & hippocampus(p<0.05), while there were no significant changes on radial maze tests. Cell numbers also tended to be raised by nimodipine, fluoxetine and haloperidol administration. Conclusions : In conclusion, the visuospatial memory disorders in ketamine-induced psychotic rats might be partly asso-ciated with aging process. Furthermore, the responses to the various drugs suggested cholinergic system might have an important role in the neurochemical mechanism of the cognitive dysfunction in ketamine-induced psychosis. Otherwise, calcium metabolism as well as serotonergic and dopaminergic systems seemed to be possibly related.

To utilize effectively fish skin wasted from fish processing, a yellowfin sole skin gelatin was prepared by alkaline extraction method and the physico-chemical properties were examined. Conditions for the suitable extraction and decolorization for gelatin preparation from yellowfin sole skin are as follows: the skin is limed with 1.5% calcium hydroxide solution at $5^{\circ}C$ for 5 days, washed throughly with tap water, extracted with 6 volumes of water ($pH5.0{\sim}7.0$) to dehydrated skin for 3 hours at $50^{\circ}C$, and then bleached with 3% activated carbon. Though yellowfin sole skin gelatin was prepared under above condition, the physico-chemical property values such the melting point and gelling point of that were lower than those of pork skin gelatin. Therefore, the purified yellowfin sole skin gelatin requires a suitable modification operation for more a good quality gelatin manufacture.
