Media-Content Repertoire Development and Difference Analysis: Focus on the Entertainment Content (미디어-콘텐츠 레퍼토리 개발 및 유형별 특성 분석: 엔터테인먼트 콘텐츠를 중심으로)

  • This study introduced the concept of 'Media-content repertoire', which indicates the set of favorite media-content combinations of media users and extracted five media user types based on those combinations. We used the range of media(i.e., smartphone, tablet, PC, and TV) and entertainment content(i.e., movie, broadcasting, music, and game) for the analysis. Also, we investigated the differences between those types including demographic variables, individual characteristics, and content buying behavior and we found that statistically significant differences exist among them. Those include 'non-user'(i.e., lower level of media use), 'screen user'(i.e., 50s, TV-centered media use), 'variety seeker'(i.e., 20s. heavy public transport user), 'selective focus'(i.e., 20,30s, movie&broadcasting-centered media use), and 'heavy user'(i.e., high level of media use and consumption). The results provide both academic implications(e.g., extension of media repertoire concept) and practical implications(e.g., direction to the target marketing for each user type).

  • Recently media use is in the period of upheaval because of the advent of smart media. At this present, there are many discussions about the multiplexing or convergence of media use and these effects of everyday life, based on the theory of 'media repertoires'. But many researches just divide media repertoire categories and show media use hours by these categories. To have more mighty power of explanation, the study about media repertoires must execute both a static analysis of media use hours and a dynamic analysis of media use by media repertoire categories in everyday life.

Determinants Influencing Users' Genre Repertoires in Personal Web-Casting: A Case of (인터넷 개인 방송 장르 레퍼토리 형성 영향 요인: <아프리카 TV> 사례를 중심으로)

  • An increasing number of people in their lifes have used personal web-casting services as a new type of broadcasting, whose power has grown in the broadcasting market and industry. Nevertheless, limited research concerning personal web-casting has been conducted so far. This research explored consumption structures of personal web-casting users in terms of their genre usage based on the theoretical concept of genre repertoire. And it also examined what determinants have influences on these structures by focusing on as an representative case in South Korea. The findings showed that sensation seeking, motivation for getting information and social presence affect genre repertoire of personal web-casting users. They also indicated that there is a moderating effect of social presence in the relationship between motivation for joy and genre repertoire.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of factors related to consumer lifestyle and media usage on the adoption of Nscreen service, which is fundamentally changing both the competitive landscape for business and the daily lives of consumers. The data of 8,524 consumers used in this study were drawn from the first Korea Media Panel Study in 2012 of Korea Information Society Development Institute and the characteristics of adopters and non-adopters were compared. The study also aims to explore the usage pattern of Nscreen as well as antecedent variables that affect the innovative service usage. Logistic regression analysis shows various factors affects the acceptance of this innovation. This is only a first step in the important process of understanding the nature of relationship between consumer lifestyle and the adoption of Nscreen service. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the drivers of Nscreen usage will help engineers and marketers to develop effective strategies that meet consumer needs for innovative services.

An Exploratory Study on the Recognition of Experience of Passing Down Education of the Korean Traditional Dance -Focusing on the National Intangible Cultural Assets: Seungmu, Salpurichum and Taepyeongmu- (한국 전통춤 전수교육의 경험인식에 대한 탐색적 연구 -국가무형문화재 승무, 살풀이춤, 태평무를 중심으로-)

  • This study aims to conceptualize characteristics of the Korean traditional dance, and to categorize and analyze the recognition of experience of passing down education of Seungmu(Buddhist Dance), Salpurichum(Exorcism Dance) and Taepyeongmu(Dance of Peace). Dividing into groups of two: an experienced person twenty years or more in the Korean dance and a person who completed the traditional dance three years or more, three groups were selected. We connected the characteristics of the traditional dance experienced in passing down education with the recognition experience in the training courses. Categorizing thematically the process and the recognition of experience in the passing down education program, we attempted mutual group discussion and inductive area analysis on the basis of in-depth interview, tutorial discussion and analysis contents. As a result of this study, first, the characteristics of the Korean traditional dance that graduates of the program by repertory empathize were the experience of the sinmyung(the excess of mirth) and improvisation, the supreme self-controlling beauty and the best beauty of expression. Second, the recognition of experience in the passing down education program runs as follows: Interacting in the centre of the process, new education system for transmission, and formation of social discourse for appreciation. Conclusionally, the experience and the new vision for transmission of passing down education of the traditional dance are required to be based on the appreciation of the rationality of mutual communication and recognition of experience.
