The purpose of this study is to propose the expansion of headings for digital trends of Korean Decimal Classification. In order to achieve the purpose, this study first analyzed the change process of classification items related to digital resources in DDC and KDC. Second, subject names related to digital in LCSH and Korean National Library Subject Heading were analyzed. Third, comparisons between the items related to digital of DDC 23rd with LCSH and KDC with Korean National Library Subject Heading were conducted. The result of comparative analysis was identified that KDC 6th edition faces with difficulties in reasonable classification because item names related to digital of KDC 6th edition have 11 items. Therefore, the item related to digital has to be expanded to new classification item name and has to add include notes and class here notes in KDC.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the historical process and characteristics of subject headings related to Korea, China, Japan in the LCSH, from the first edition to 31th ed. The analytic results show that the headings in the 31th edition include in Korea 713, China 1,742, Japan 2,647, compared to Korea headings 4, China headings 49, Japan headings 24 in the first edition. Some subject headings considered important and essential are left out. We can also recognize the some headings are relatively too subdivided. The omitted and insufficient Korean, Chinese, Japanese subject headings are considered to be tied up with library policies of LC. Therefore our active support such as donation are being called for collecting more detailed analysis of Korea, China, Japan-related publications in LC.

LCSH is now used as a major subject access tool in library catalogs and national bibliographies. Internationally, LCSH has also gained wide acceptance. Over the years, many libraries in other countries have adopted or adapted LCSH. The purpose of this study is to analyze the historical process and characteristics of subject headings related to Korea in the LCSH, from the first edition to 30th ed. The analytic results show that the section of Korean history and related subject headings are different from the terms used in Korean academic world : Some subject headings considered important and essential are left out. We can also recognize the some headings are relatively too subdivided. The omitted and insufficient Korean subject headings are considered to be tied up with library policies of LC. Therefore our active support such as donation are being called for collecting more detailed analysis of Korea-related publications in LC.

This study was conducted to analyze the characteristics of records related to Korea shown in the cataloging records of major 10 Asia-Pacific university libraries. The results are as follows. To begin with, Korea-related records in most university libraries are very poor except for some libraries and are generally 2 times less than Japan related records. There are even 6 times less in 2 libraries. Second, most libraries organize records in MARC 21 format rather than UNIMARC, and apply subject headings of the national library, or go together with LCSH. Third, Korean materials usually write Korean in Roman characters, but 5 libraries are marked with the original Korean language and available Hangeul search. Forth, on investigation of the subject distribution in sub criteria of Korea-related records, subject related to 'history', 'economy', and 'politics' is largely shown in the highest rate. Fifth, Among the Korea-related subject heading, the terms such as 'Taekwondo', 'Kimchi', 'Dokdo', 'Donghae', 'Duman-gang', 'Baekdu-san' have different meanings in different libraries. However, these terms agree to LCSH in most libraries except for neighboring countries's libraries.
